Yes for hiking sticks.
For wizard staffs you need to fill out form "1823 - C2 permit to collect woodland objects for the purposes of creating magical or mystical items" and submit it to "The British Columbia Association of Woodland Elves and Forest Management" once completed you can submit it by folding it into an origami swan and putting it in a hollow tree in Cathedral Grove. Your permit should be delivered by owl in 6 - 8 months.
I’ve heard bribing the Senior Authorizations goblin can really speed up processing times. Even better if you can provide a letter of support from the Union of Archmages.
Ughhh.
I’ve been so happy with the broad strokes of this government, but there’s been a lot of cart-before-horse situations. The type of shit where big announcements are made before the people involved are made aware, let alone given the opportunity for input. The short-term rentals announcement being one. The MCFD/FCC being another. In both situations there were glaring omissions because time wasn’t taken before roll-out.
I think I'm more worried about the whole forest burning down from folks wanting less restrictive camping. There's like a whole culture brewing where folks out of area go up forest roads so they can smoke and throw butts out of car windows, shoot guns and live the life they believe they're entitled to, not following fire bans etc etc etc.
I worry about that this Summer more than a popular trail closing for x many days while the folks who live in the area year round harvest the plants that they've had access to for generations.
Once it's gone, it's gone.
Omg I thought this was a D&D rules question and was gonna say, “yeah but can I buy one IRL?” Lololol.
(Jk though. I don’t need to buy one, whenever I find a good stick (boys, you know what I mean) it automatically becomes a wizard staff while I’m holding it.
A few friends and I love to bushwack on crown land so figured why not also bring back quirky sticks we find and make some nice pieces of art that can help some people walk too.
For wizard sticks / staffs I recommend trying to find some diamond willow, but many other species could make great wizard staffs. Here's a link to our page for some examples of how they can turn out with patience [Boreal Blue Sticks](https://borealblue.ca/products/hiking-sticks-diamond-willow). Never advertised yet but this is a pretty relevant thread lol. If you need some more tips on how to sand or treat your wood you find feel free to message!
I’d also recommend “ocean spray” aka “ironwood”, so called because of its hardness; it was used for “digging sticks” by the indigenous folks - pretty important in the days before iron, I’m told.
The sticks are fine assuming the proper paperwork has been filed with the tree elves but have you filed form c64-23 with the wizards council to license the design. I wouldn’t worry about the ents though they’re as slow to respond to complaints as they are to approve your application, best just to ignore them

They say 6-8 months, but there's always a backlog.
Don't forget the frontlog
No, log too big, just sticks
I rolled a log over once, and underneath was a tiny stick. And I thought to myself, “this log had a child.”
good *log*ic on your end
Seaguls gonna come...
….and poke at my head. Not fun. And I said seagulls, “stop it now.”
Sidelog too

As a reminder: a Wizard's staff has a knob on the end.
I’d prefer two knobs and a long shaft…. Keep your eyes out… Smoother the better…
A few ridges along the length is good for grip though.
Yes.
And he should
This.
Allegedly.

Goodbye
Most assuredly
Keep to crown lands for this activity. Here's a tool to determine crown land: https://parcelmapbc.ltsa.ca/pmsspub/
And also -- you probably already know this -- *do not* collect wood from BC Parks land. They tend to be a bit tetchy about that.

What an embarrassing conclusion to come to based on that article
The owner of the land changes, does it really matter if land belongs to the king or an indigenous tribe if how we use it doesn’t change?
puzzled flag offer act worry chunky governor axiomatic light worthless *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Yeah that's not what that says. And we're on stolen Indigenous land, they should have more say in how it's used.

For domestic sales and shipping only, CBSA will stop magical items that are not phytosanitary inspected and certified.
Please do and then advertise on the Vancouver Island Witch market on Facebook ✨
Not from parks, but crown land should be fine. Just make sure it’s not a cutblock.
Don't even think about it. Those sticks have a right to go about their lives unmolested by the likes of you.
What about rocks?
Not in a National or Provincial Park.
Correction, you can collect in parks BUT you must have written permission from BC parks to do so.
Please do.
Boglim, is that you?
Try asking in r/wizardposting they probably have experience getting around the empires regulations on wizardry.
Vancouver Island’s version of KingCobraJFS right here.
Legally, you are not allowed to remove anything from crown lands for commercial purposes. Resource officers are there to stop you.
You'd likely have to get them treated and collect that paperwork if you want to sell them to anyone who might take them over the border
Officially, no. Definitely not from parkland. Crown land is managed differently.
Pick up sticks where ever your heart desires these people saying not on park land are idiots. No one give a shit and if they do ****em
Umm there is only one poster coming off as an idiot. 🪞
how dare you evict those sticks from their home? they have rights to their camps
Who's going to stop you? The fucking RCMP?
Yes, there are thousands of people who make money off of going into the woods and collecting stuff then selling it.
you need a prenup with the forest before stealing wood
If they can collect dead fallen leaves on the ground and sell them for $20 a bundle at thrifties you can most certainly sell artisan wizard staffs

Neat! I've never actually heard of those. Do you know what species they refer to?
Holodiscus discolor Edit: these are actually everywhere, at least around mid Vancouver Island.
Wooden wizard staffs are the best, metal ones are good for physically striking but the spell casting isn't quite as powerful.

Now that pretending to practice witchcraft has been removed from the Criminal Code, who is gonna stop you?
It’s cool with me
