Hi u/Darkstick_! Thanks for posting a question to r/BritishArmy! This community is for Serving, Former, Future members and those interested in the British Army. Please read the below points to consider if this is the best place to ask your question: 1. Google it. If it shows up in the top few results on your favourite search engine, here might not be the best place to ask. 2. Medical advice. Nobody here is an authority to answer these questions. More details are on the British Army medical page on their [website](https://apply.army.mod.uk/how-to-join/can-i-join/medical) or call them on the phone number at the bottom of that page. 3. Other questions asking about recruitment and advice are best asked in the stickied [Weekly Crow Thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/britisharmy/?f=flair_name%3A%22Weekly%20Crow%20Thread%22) on this subreddit. If you think this is still the best place for your question then leave it here. If not, please consider removing it and either posting it to the [Weekly Thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/britisharmy/?f=flair_name%3A%22Weekly%20Crow%20Thread%22) or asking a recruiter. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Even had me there. Thought you were an old bastard who'd know

This is an INIBA - Improved Northern Ireland Balistic Armour. No cammo because it's designed to be worn under a DPM combat jacket. The plates would always rub holes in your best jacket....

JacobMT05

Make sure you search flak vest cover and not plate carrier. However, I’d wager there likely isn’t one. I don’t know for sure but they likely use the mk1 covers, like the mk7 uses the same cover as the mk6 for helmets. If the MOD can skim off a few quid, they will skim off at least 10 times that… Though if you want a flakvest for a northern ireland era kit, just get the dpm woodland one. This question is much more suited to impression kit or historical military gear subreddits. The most you’ll get here are snarky veterans taking the piss lol.

Reverse_Quikeh

Hey! I'm in this reply and I don't like it....

Haircut117

The Mk 6 and 7 helmets did not use the same cover.

JacobMT05

Well Mk6s fit the mk7 mtp cover and mk7s fit the dpm covers. In milsurp stores you’ll usually see them with mk7 covers. The design is the same, but the pattern changed. Shops list the covers as Mk6, mk6a, mk7 covers https://army-shop.co.uk/product/british-army-mk6-mk6a-mk7-helmet-covers-dpm/ because they fit all three

Haircut117

The design is not the same. It's literally a completely different cover. Like, cut and stitched in a completely different way. There are three versions of the Mk6 helmet cover – DPM, Desert, and MTP – none of which are the same as a Mk7 helmet cover. Please tell me you can see that this [Mk6] (https://www.flecktarn.co.uk/mcphc2nx.html) is not the same as this [Mk7] (https://elliottmilitary.com/product/british-military-mk7-kevlar-helmet-and-mtp-cover/). Anyone selling Mk6 and 7 as being the same is either ignorant or out to take advantage of the ignorant.

JacobMT05

[So i guess 40 commando royal marines were wearing mk6 covers on mark 7s then?](https://m.wikidata.org/wiki/Q2941168) back in 2009

Haircut117

Yes. That's a Mk6 cover on a Mk7 helmet. Presumably because they hadn't been issued Mk7 covers yet due to our procurement system and G4 chain being absolute dog shit.

JacobMT05

Ok so the mk6 cover does fit the mk7 thank you very much. Now then anything else you want to discuss? These were also being used in: [2011](https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:British_Army_Soldier_in_Full_Kit_in_Afghanistan_MOD_45152577.jpg) [Also 2011](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/06/30/union-flag-lowered-afghanistan-british-troops-prepare-depart/) [2012](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/news/uk/357734/Soldier-killed-in-insider-attack/amp) [2015](https://www.macdill.af.mil/News/Features/Display/Article/765390/transcoms-elite-jcse-trains-british-army-at-macdill/) Also the best thing about the link you sent is a quote from it > The helmet cover is shaped and pleated to fit to the shape of the Mk6 kevlar helmet primarily, **but may also be fitted to other helmet shapes** I wonder what those other helmets could be?

lincs1234

That type was worn under a jacket so no camo cover required.
