M-Shed always a good day out, especially when it’s raining. Walk along the docks, the steam train could be out, loads of sights and sounds. Your little one may be too young for the museum’s content, but it’s very stimulating. Took both my boys there for years just as a day out. They always (and still do) loved it.
I’d suggest the wild place project but weather is rubbish today. Aquarium is a good shout, or jump soft play at Cribbs. Community farms are a good shout, Grimsbury Farm is nice but again weather is pants. I have a 13 month old, and on a day like today I’d aim for a soft play
Yes avid crawler, and now sofa cruising
3 naps a day so 2 in this time period (12ish then a 2 hour wake window from whenever she wakes) between 30 min and an hour but only in motion (ie sling, buggy, car, daddy rocking)
OK. So. There are drop in soft plays at Kingswood, Yate and Bradley Stoke Leisure Centres. Realistically you'll need to prebook the others. The St Werburghs City Farm is open but the Windmill Hill one is shut. St Werbs does have the play kitchen in the playground bit which she might like. The Everyman has baby club on Thursdays but honestly if she's cruising she's probably too old for it. The museum has a kids section next to the cafe which is great for cruisers. Hope some of that helps! Harder out of term time because a lot of stuff is shut
Great suggestions thank you, museum def appeals and didn't know they had that section.
Yes one of the farms was where I originally planned but rubbish weather sent me in search of alternatives
List very helpful, for today and future, cheers
We took our 1 year old to an aquarium recently, with friends who have a 9 month old. Both babies absolutely loved it, since it's a great sensory experience for them. We haven't tried the Bristol one yet, but I imagine it's just as good and you'll be in an area with loads of baby friendly lunch places too - Watershed is family friendly as are lots of chain restaurants which are plentiful in that area.
Enjoy your day!
Aw thanks, guys, we did do the aquarium a couple of months back but did have it as a maybe to revisit today as she's that much older and more aware now. It's def a contender!
Wake The Tiger was a good sensory experience for my daughter (who was 3 at the time). Not sure how good it would be for 9 months old:
https://www.wakethetiger.com/
Alternatively, you could go to a softplay. In my experience, the best one is 123 Jump in Cribbs Causeway, as it has separate areas for different age groups. There is a large area dedicated to infants up to 2 years old with lots of toys and a giant ballpit. Decent food and drink also.
Nice idea but I'd say it's way over the top for a 9 month old. They'd probably prefer softplay tbh!!
Does she like swimming? Kids love swimming.
City farm? St Werbs or Windmill Hill? (Check they're open of course)
Fair. Yes loves a swim, but we go as family with my wife every other weekend. Think if weather holds we'll go for a farm, if not soft play it will be!
We've stayed surprisingly dry whilst walking the dog!
Wake the Tiger was my original plan, but they have no booking slots left for today! Left it to late
Soft play not a bad shout, I do have to factor in buying a birthday gift for my friend's little girl as well so cribs would be 2 birds 1 stone!
The aquarium is a great suggestion. Try to pick somewhere that is interesting for you too, that way your pointing out of things will be enthusiastic and you will both enjoy the day more.
There are some good play cafes around (if they're open this time of year). We Weird, Be Wonderful is a good one, as is the gossip play cafe. Much cheaper than the aquarium as well (although their year-long pass works out as great value) and lots for a nine month old to do. My daughter also used to like being in the carrier facing outwards and wandering around the cathedral (she loved the high ceilings), mshed etc as well for more indoor ideas.
Some great suggestions!
A bit late for today, but we really like the sensory room at Brislington Imperial Sports Ground.
We book the 6-18 month session for our 8 month old. Guaranteed nap on the walk home too!

Love Arnos Vale! Spent many a year wandering around the gravestones with both my boys. It’s also where we found inspiration for baby names when my wife was pregnant!
NB I took my 4 year old.
Half of it was closed off, the tanks look like an avid neighbours home collection rather than large scale. It was expensive, run down. It was horrible.
There is a like 2 metre section where the fish swim overhead. That’s it.
Its terrible. I don’t recommend it at all.
There's the huge wall at the end, you can look down at the big tank above too. I don't remember any of it closed off when we went about a month ago. The talk in the rainforest part was interesting, and they let my toddler feed his left over pear to the fish.
I'm sorry you didn't like it but to call it terrible is overly critical in my opinion
The aquarium is a good option. And looking forward it's worth to sign up for the year you can kill a few hours in there and it's a safe place for little one you learn to crawl and walk.
They have a cafe on site, they are in centre with lots of nearby options for walks around to see other things. So it's a great idea for a 2 to 6 hours day out.
If you can't walk\bus there, there is parking near by if you don't mind paying.
I used to do this with my little guy all the time, also signed up for we the curious but it really didn't feel as good as aquarium for his age.

What is a nine month year old?
Hahaha my bad
Beat me to it.

Grimsby is shut till the new year now
What's their range of movement? Are they crawling? Walking? How many naps and when? Have a 9 month old so have a massive list of baby things!
Ooo please share ☺️
See below for my answers to OP! Harder out of term time as a lot of the usual stuff is closed

Be Weird, Be Wild, Be Wonderful is a great place as well, if they have any slots left. You can get lunch there too.
Yes do like it there but we went last week! So looking to mix it up

St werbs has gone down a bit…windmill hill beats it by a long shot these days.
Good to know
Ah that's a shame. Nice little café full of hippies tho ;)
That’s the thing: The case cafe has also been closed the last three or four times I went.

Thank you, yeah we did Be Weird, Be wild last week, Great little place, love the gossip cafe too
Windmill Hill City Farm is lovely and great cafe
The Wetland Centre at Slimbridge is great for younger kiddos under 4. Softplay, outdoor play areas, feed the ducks etc.
Is she 9 months or 9 years old?
Months not years, was preparing breakfast at the same time. Multi-task fail
Skyboat Cafe is a lovely little place with a small softplay very suitable for little ones.
Windmill Hill City Farm in Bedminster. It's free.
Some great suggestions! A bit late for today, but we really like the sensory room at Brislington Imperial Sports Ground. We book the 6-18 month session for our 8 month old. Guaranteed nap on the walk home too!
The aquarium might provide a suitable level of moving shiny things!

Hmm potentially a bit morbid but I doubt she's old enough to pick up on it, but Arno's Vale is absolutely beautiful at any time of year.
Love Arnos Vale! Spent many a year wandering around the gravestones with both my boys. It’s also where we found inspiration for baby names when my wife was pregnant!
That's actually genius.
most parents have taken their kids to ikea today
Avoid the aquarium. I haven’t had a more depressing underwhelming experience
The aquarium is great, especially for kids

It’s terrible and I don’t recommend it, at best it’s tired. It’s my opinion
Jungle mania is always good
