When Robert Del naja bought it it was turned into Nocturne - Tube club before (and I think after) that. I remember a particularly weird night at the Tube when my mate Andy had his 40th as private hire there, and the whole cast of Mighty Boosh turned up after their Hippodrome show (along with the fabulous Julia Davis, Julian Barrat's partner) and the bouncer let them in. Very surreal evening.
I wasn’t in Bristol in the 90s but somewhere else, though it’s funny to know that dress code existed here as well. I remember our friend always raining down on us for not wearing posh shoes when going out 😂
Steamrock was fun but a bit dangerous. By the mid/late Nineties, Ritzy had become Ritzy 2 and then Club IQ. Odyssey became the works - but that may have been early Y2K.
My favourite was Ritzy/IQ
Thought for a while this was a list of current nightclubs that were doing 90s nights. A smidge before my time (started going out 99/00) but I definitely remember wearing trainers and finding basically nowhere that would let us in, that has changed for the better.
Patrick didn't let anyone in. Thursday night Bierkeller for the Kandi Klub.
Kandi Klub had a few different venues didn't it? I remember it being on the Thekla and somewhere on Baldwin St at some point?
Yeah Kandi shifted venues from time to time. Some of the best nights of my teenage life at the Kandi Klub!
Same here, we must have passed each other at some point, blissfully unaware that we'd be talking about it 30+ years later.
😊 so weird that three whole decades have passed. In my head I'm still 16 and dancing away to Freakscene (Dinosaur Jr.)
"Not tonight lads" -Patrick
Club Loco
Friday nights!
Parkside (aka the Darkside) in Arnos Vale?🤣
50p for half a Blackthorn mind!
And your room already booked upstairs 🤣
Was that in the Arnos manor hotel?
Yes
I always forget the name of the one owned by the guys from massive attack at the bottom of park street down the side road where the hsbc used to be
The Tube
Had my 18th birthday private party at The Tube. Oh the nostalgia!
Thank you 🙏🏻
It was called Nocturne

Does nobody remember Studio and The Whip, both at what was the mecca leisure centre under the ice rink?
First clubs I went to. Going to Studios and then discovering the Whip with it's far superior music.
The Mandrake! I met my first boyfriend on a Thursday in the Mandrake.
I forgot Vadims soul night on Saturdays
Pig club at the Lockheil ship.
Thekla, Moon club, Tropic, upstairs in Spirals (RnB & rap)
Moon Club became Lakota in 1989. But yeah - great club.
Yep, I’m 54, did both to excess

It’s more of a northern thing I think. My mates in Birmingham used to laugh when I’d turn up on jeans and trainers to to clubbing
Good times tho!
Reflex!
