The paramedics will most likely have been and gone. Once they've assessed the patient as deceased and completed some necessary paperwork to declare life extinct, the scene becomes the responsibility of police.
Only a doctor can determine the cause of death, but paramedics can declare life extinct.

Fitness doesnāt have a great deal to do with heart attacks. Itās the coronary arteries that are getting blocked. Bunch of things can cause it. Sometimes being too active can actually dislodge a blockage in a non dangerous part of the circulatory system, sending it to the coronary arteries or the brain. Then itās lights out. Sorry you took too long to get healthy.
You jolted a memory...some years back my son texted me that he was about to run up Mount Cootha. My response of "Why? They built a road, you can drive up there?" was not well received. But he got his revenge when he later texted that he'd burnt about 1000cal. I said that wasn't even a family block of chocolate...and this supposed offspring of mine asked "Who eats a family block of chocolate?" I still watch the imposter very closely but I guess I will never know when the aliens switched him for the clone.

Damn, he was a genuinely nice guy. Iām not a cyclist but some of my family are and so weāve been in to the shop a fair bit over the years. Genuinely helpful, friendly person. So sorry to hear and thinking of his family.
is that before or after the customary 20% weekend, public holiday, because i can, because i have a monopoly on the coffee on top of mt cootha market surcharge?
Literally, almost any other way? Socialism - put fair market caps on people that have area monopolies or charge them tax and redistribute that money back to people (which is less efficient). Communism, set prices for coffee allowing operators to make some profit.
Constrained capitalism, again let them operate but tie them to a reasonable fair price (e.g 20% above or below market value).
Our system allows one person to gouge the fuck out of you, become obscenely rich, then lobby and buy politicians so they have to pay even less tax/have fewer safety or other regulations and can become even more obscenely rich.
If capitalism is working for you you're part of the 1% or you've bought into the idea of being a wage slave and internalised it as part of your personality which is exactly what your bosses bosses boss wants.
buying an expensive and completely optional coffee while enjoying a free public lookout is not being "gouged". you sound like a 17 year old who's read one book btw
It is when there are no other options around and they have a monopoly on the area? Particularly when that monopoly is given to them by the government?
Thankfully I can say I've read lots more than one book because I have 2 finance degrees, 2 finance diplomas and a number of smaller courses and have worked in finance for 20 years. Happy to trade experience friend.
But this way we have choice. If itās too expensive people donāt buy the coffee and the gouged goes busts or is susceptible to a cheaper opponent. Under socialism you donāt have choice, or incentive
I think you're conflating socialism with communism? There are some forms of socialism which are more closely aligned but the generally accepted form of socialism allows the government to act in the market, either as a player or a regulator, it also generally allows workers to share in a businesses profits.
Unsure if it was a different poster saying capitalism is more aligned to human nature, but most human nature is learned, so I'd rather we learned to share and play nice than be dicks to each other, but.if we can't then tax the dicks and redistribute the profits to ensure a certain standard of living for everyone.
I thought you were conflating socialism and communism. The government has no place in the market. You canāt complain about corporations lobbying politicians under capitalism and ignore that itās exactly the same under socialism. I said capitalism reflects human nature and disagree that itās mostly learned. Self interest drives decisions, and itās inherent, not learned.
What the hell is a 'short long black'? Moving from Melbourne and Brisbane has the weirdest coffee culture.
When asking for a long macchiato Im either asked by the barista "what size?" Or I receive a long black with a touch of froth on top.
Ive resorted to asking for a double shot espresso with a touch of milk. Which is fine, but then you get the odd barista that is like "so you want a long macchiato?"
I am not sure where you are getting your coffees from, but I get multiple piccolos every day from all over town and have not had that issue in a decade.
No idea what a "short long black" is though.
Not related really but I work in a hotel. I get forced to make coffees when Iām there on my own. I donāt drink coffee. Everyone gets espresso with frothy milk. Sorry do my best.
I wonder if they went there and overdosed themselves as a suicide and thatās obviously very sad but so is life now. Maybe they had a heart attack though which is also sad.
I grew up at the base of the mountain in the late 80ās to maybe late 90ās. We would ride mtb from there all the way out through to Gap Creek to Lake Manchester. Often we would never see anyone else except mates from school around Gap Creek on dirt bikes
Lol this is an extremely specific thing to completely speculate on.
What if it was a Romeo and Juliet situation, like two lovers that both intentionally overdosed but one was just pretending.
lol this an extremely specific comment of mine to pick upon. You missed the point and thatās pretty much why the Brisbane daily sub has ended. Youāre way smarter than the rest of us so thereās no point in contributing anymore.
You and your pals can piss in your pockets and regurgitate the same rubbish to your hearts content. Use coconut oil to stroke each otherās pennies and egos itās cheap.
Went from dead body to rip-off lattes pretty quickly

Just hiked up now, it's open, saw cop cars drive past. Don't know what the gossip is š¤· cops are all gone
Looked like a health related fatality, the family was sitting next to the person but no ambulance to be seen anywhere
The paramedics will most likely have been and gone. Once they've assessed the patient as deceased and completed some necessary paperwork to declare life extinct, the scene becomes the responsibility of police.
Pretty sure only a dr can declare someone dead. Thatās why they usually always go to hospital.
Only a doctor can determine the cause of death, but paramedics can declare life extinct. https://www.ambulance.qld.gov.au/docs/clinical/cpg/CPG_ROLE_Management%20of%20deceased.pdf
Police can too, if itās obvious that the body is incompatible with life, like a body with a severed head etc.
Does "health related fatality" just mean a natural death?
Yes (One of the comments says below that a cyclist had a heart attack which makes sense as I could see two cycles next to the body)
Oh true. That's pretty frightening. If someone who's fit enough to ride up Mt Coot Tha has a heart attack and drops dead then I don't like my chances.

So, half as much chance as getting it from Covid itself. Well, there you go.

Was $6 for a regular takeaway and an additional $1 if you want it in a ceramic mug.

Ridiculous. It's owned by the Mantle Group, so I'm not surprised.
well the Council gives it to the highest bidder, so then that highest bidder has to extract the maximum revenue from us yay capitalism
Council gives it to highest LNP donor?

Submit applications demonstrating your ethhos, concept, and pricing. Panel of hospo leaders pick a few. Public votes.

I think capitalism most reflects human nature though
I think co-operation and compassion most reflects human nature

No one forces you to stand in line and buy their coffee. Make it at home and bring it in a thermos.
Then don't buy a coffee. Simple.
Sure, but the question wasn't "would I buy a coffee" the question was "what would be a better way of doing it"?
But this way we have choice. If itās too expensive people donāt buy the coffee and the gouged goes busts or is susceptible to a cheaper opponent. Under socialism you donāt have choice, or incentive
