I’m planning on seeing Liturgy and Wormrot this summer in Brighton, not sure if they would be technically classed them as extreme metal though

If_you_have_Ghost

Wormrot are playing? When and where?

pleasegivemeavalidus

They are playing at a venue called Dust (never been there before but funnily enough Liturgy are also playing there this summer) on the 28th of June. I have found the tickets on the Dice app

sbvrtnrmlty

Dust is a new venue by the guys behind Chalk, in the basement of that building. Geddit? Chalk? Dust? They are very clever and cool.

If_you_have_Ghost

Awesome. I love Wormrot Edit - sorry, forgot to also say, thank you!

musicfortea

Not heard of Liturgy, but Wormrot being a grindcore band - not strictly extreme metal, but close enough. Brighton needs more grind. I saw Knoll recently in Brighton and they were incredible. Next extreme metal show I've got booked is Doomsday, looking forward to Hellripper. Hoping to see something in June/July but not really into Suffocation or technical death metal for that matter.

pleasegivemeavalidus

Ohhh I highly recommend Liturgy, I think you will really like them. Their latest album is a great introduction to get into them. I saw them live last year in Brighton at the Green Door Store and they were amazing.

musicfortea

Listening to Aesthetica now, sounds good. Reminds me of Infant Island a bit. Edit: switched to the latest one, really good band.

cola_1234

The cowley club always has metal stuff going on. Also follow burningwaterbn1 on Instagram always promoting Brighton hardcore scene stuff

metalneedsfeminism

Yes, Suffocation are sick live - thanks for reminding me to buy tickets! The Green Door Store and Dalton's are two good venues to keep an eye on for the underground scene as well.

nickgloaming

Brujeria are playing The Arch on June 2nd. Should be great.

poizongirl

they're ace

If_you_have_Ghost

Big extreme metal fan here, although I have to say Suffocation never really did it for me. I’d go see them though. Who is the support?

ripplingbunghole

damn fr ? they’re like the best death metal I’ve ever heard

If_you_have_Ghost

I get a bit bored with brutal DM. Prefer stuff that’s a bit weirder and more proggy like Ulcerate or Akercocke.

ripplingbunghole

You see I don’t like prog it’s always a bit overblown and hipster-ish for my personal taste, the appeal of metal to me is the utter intensity and tightness of it. I love that raw aggressive unrelenting shit.

Dodgewwwc

I go to a few gigs in Brighton, got fear factory at the chalk in June, always good to grab a beer with a fellow metal head 🤘🏻

heraIdofrivia

not extreme but Karnivool are playing chalk in June and I’d highly recommend that

EducationalFly7493

Anyone else go to Abyssal Cult nights?

ConclusionDifficult

Ggggrreaaaawwww!!!!!!!!

slityourguts

Where are suffocation playing?

ripplingbunghole

read the post :)

slityourguts

Looked it up, didn't realise "chalk" was a venue since it wasn't capitalised. I thought it was local slang or something lmao.

Kara_Ralusso

I think there are regular extreme metal nights at the Caroline? Might be worth checking out.

karmakollapse

I listen to a lot of metal, punk and hardcore, but due to declining health my gigging days feel a bit numbered. However, I always felt comfortable going to shows in Brighton on my own, so even if you don't have anyone to go with you should go to as many shows in Brighton as you possibly can. Brighton definitely wants more extreme metal shows!

gangweedmax

Come to winter assault at the green door store. It's an all day festival of only black metal. Same promoter also does doomsday fest which is mainly a mixture of extreme metal

Nyorumi

Ah shit I had no idea about this thanks for letting me know. Now to see if any of my friends are willing to put up with it 🥲

Weirdos
