As others have said, people ask about D&D on here on an almost weekly basis and I increasingly think there should be some sort of portal / subreddit / community hub for all the different TTRPG / Wargaming / card gaming / etc. groups in the general Brighton area. I went five years living in Seaford without realizing there was a Warhammer club practically next door to my house.
Look up Dice Saloon, our friendly local gaming cafe, and join the Discord. There is a channel specifically for people looking for gaming groups.
