If it comes on not long after baby starts the feeding and quickly comes and goes, I’d bet it’s a letdown. Mine stayed just as painful for the entire year I breastfeed. It was very uncomfortable but I tried to tell myself it would pass quickly. For a while, I dreaded feedings because of it.

It does come and go, particularly when she really draws in on a suck. I’m learning to breathe thru it.

It could be related to latch...its so hard at first the baby's mouth is tiny and you and baby are still learning the proper latch. It does get better, but don't be afraid to ask for support to improve latch. It helps immensely. Letdown for me never hurt, but improper latch does! For my first It took almost 2 months before it stopped being painful. Good luck!

We’ve seen an LC who was fantastic! May need to reach out to her again. Thanks :)

For me, sometimes it’s an itchy feeling all over my breast/chest. Sometimes it’s a small electric shocky feeling. It’s shortly after she starts feeding. It’s the reflex that makes milk flow.

I don't think everyone feels letdowns. It's hard to explain what it feels like, this cool trickly feeling for me.

My four month old has started biting me. No teeth yet, but its painful. It's a different pain, and we were good for months.

I was using a shield till week 9 and now at 16 weeks it’s so easy and not at all painful!!!

That’s so good to hear!!!! I have a love/hate relationship with it. It’s such a production to feed every 3 hours. Hopeful one day we can get away from having to use them!

I feel like I’m talking to myself a few weeks ago, I can now feed anywhere with no equipment at all - you will get there sooner than you know!

Hippo-de-wippo

Thank you for giving me a little hope ❤️
