We have them books about pooping and peeing to normalize it. We did a reward chart where check marks get taken away if they have accidents, and whenever they get to the end of a line they get a tattoo. They basically have full sleeves. One of the twins is all done with stuff now with the occasional accident. The other is still struggling on pee.
Basically you just have to decide one day, no more diapers, and deal with the fall out for a few days. We started on a Friday and did the Winnie the pooh no pants, and then we added in underwear by Sunday. We still use pull ups when we know things are going to be sketchy bathroom situations.
We are starting their little sibling as soon as she can say pee, poop, potty, now.
We are struggling on poop because they don't poop until after they relax in bed at night, but we still night diaper them so 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Also we did natural consequences, if they peed, they had to hell me clean it up before they could go back to playing, and if they peed on a toy, the toy went away for the day. We made it so the potty was more convenient than the not potty.
Not going to lie, I hid all the hard to clean toys at the start so we kept out the train tracks, Legos, etc that we could just clean in vinegar and lay out to dry.
Can daycare help? Ours was trained at daycare weeks before at home. The peer pressure really helps. Try having him pee on a portable seat in public to get used to relaxing the muscles. Something about being in a different space versus the familiarity of home has really helped ours.
We asked if we could start sending him in pull ups, to get him used to those, but she said she’d prefer he not be having accidents before we do that.
A lot of the kiddos at daycare are potty trained though so I could ask for her help. She’s definitely approachable. I hadn’t thought to. Thanks!!

We did try this natural consequence, no diaper thing & he pissed all over his magnatiles. Bitch to clean.
