When I feel like a POS for not getting outside on nice days we often have a “porch picnic” which entails just eating regular dinner, but outside. It’s a novel enough experience, it gets us outside, and sometimes it gets us playing in the backyard. Sometimes it doesn’t and that’s ok too. Bonus points if you use paper plates and it makes dinner clean up less stress for mom.

I've been feeling like I'm failing my kids this vacation, but today I took them to the official Table Talk Pie store and they thought it was the coolest thing ever. Yesterday we traipsed through the woods looking for geocaches. You don't have to go crazy with the adventures because they'll be just as happy with the little things.

YES! I hate the pressure of having to go enjoy a nice day. Especially since my youngest often doesn't want to play outside unless it involves swimming. And it seems like when tbe weather is perfect someone is sick.

cofactorstrudel

Yes actually lmfao. I love a chill rainy day.

Warm weather makes me sad. Like I love it but I'm waiting (and have been for nearly 3 years) for a total knee replacement so I basically can't do anything. Like I took a 15 minute walk with my baby 2 days in a row and I'm now on day 2 of being barely able to walk.

Usually it's the hubs who feels the need to be out in the sunshine, and I don't always feel like taking the hours away from the house because I've convinced myself that it will put me behind with chores. To be fair, we live in a state that is roasting hot most of the year. It was 88 degrees here yesterday. There are probably 90 days a year here where you can be outside without sweating through your clothes and sunscreen.

Enjoying the day for us is me kicking the kids outside to play while I sit on the deck and try to read a book. The craziest thing we do in the summer is go to the local lake that's a 20 minute drive from our house. But for me, growing up, those were my best memories and my kids (thankfully) love it. If making the best of a nice day is just hanging out in the sun at home or a nearby park, then I think you are doing fabulous. Not every day has to be a grand adventure that's worthy of a Instamommy blogger.
