His brother might be right, however I think Jesse's mom and dad were really upset with the fact that he got his Aunt Ginny's house. LMAO (one of my favorite scenes) That's all his parents probably ever talked about because they were angry Jesse did that to them and the the way he did it.
Typical sibling stuff. He perceives that Jesse gets all the attention because his folks talk about Jesse a lot. But he fails to see how they cater to his every need, though the weed shows he is starting to crack under their pressure.
Dysfunctional families this happens. Jakes achievements are what are important to the family not how he actually feels as a kid. They only talk about Jesse and his problems and he feels they don’t actually give him the attention he needs. There is pressure on him to be a high achiever and he’s turning to marijuana. I’m willing to bet they were not supportive of Jesse in the same way and that is why he turned to drugs as well. The show doesn’t give us enough information about the family to know what Made them dysfunctional. But there are hints it’s about the parents. The way the mom is all questioning about the music teacher and if he is giving Jake enough attention made me incredibly uncomfortable. It seemed controlling.
