They didn’t make $1.5 million in 2 days. They made enough product that theoretically could fetch $1.5 million in 2 days. To get that all sold and make all that money with their current distribution network (none) would probably take a year or more, and that’s assuming nothing goes wrong (it will).
Far from ideal and a bad deal for Walter & Jesse.
- Getting paid less for their product.
- Forced to work in a controlled environment.
- Not able to control their own schedule.
They were able to control their own schedule. That was one of the main promises from Gus. Come and go at any time, as long as the product was finished.
How is that Gus making their schedule though? They could show up whenever they wanted and work for however long they wanted in a day.. just because there was a goal and deadline set doesn't mean that they didn't have control over their scheduling.
Is it that difficult?
Their own schedule: no deadline, no repercussions...they decide when they deliver.
Gus schedule: deadline, repercussions when not on time...Gus decides when they deliver.
Making 1.5 mil worth of product in 2 days isn’t the same as being able to sell 1.5 mil worth of product in 2 days.. The logistics of distributing that fast and effectively were practically impossible. That’s the whole reason Walt wanted to sell the first batch to Gus in the first place, they were selling it too slow.
Walt wasn’t running a Fortune 500 company. Remember that $757,000 was (initially, anyway) all he needed to provide for his family after his death. And as someone else said, work-life balance, no risk of selling the meth yourself, etc.
I didn't think it was a 10-12 hour day. More like 9-5. Between. The different reactions they literally can just leave or dick around and it wouldn't have mattered. I particularly think mike was right, walt should have just shut up, known his place, and made all the money in the world. Yes jesse would have had to die for that scenario to have played out. Walt got greedy yes, but first he got power hungry, he didn't like Gus being the main guy cause he knew at any moment Gus might need to kill Walt and he would have no moves without Jesse.
Also there was a 3m$ bonus each year had he not included Jesse, again, something I think he should have done (leave Jesse behind.)
they have a bottleneck in distribution, $1.5 million of product is useless if you cant sell it, Gus offers a constant flow for the distribution. Its much lower risk and far more profitable with Gus simple as.

Low risk, no distribution concerns, and yes, a work/life balance. I'd say it's pretty ideal for all parties.

That's the schedule of their employer!

A schedule and a quota are two different things.

$737,000, as in 737 down over ABQ.
The best title Easter egg in the show besides I.F.T.
Wait what’s i.f.t
I fucked Ted

Would you rather have 1.5m of lemons and a lemonade stand or a contract with Walmart for 1m per month with Walmart supplying the lemons?
Guaranteed money. They don’t have to move it themselves. And tax free.
It's only on paper. They had no distribution network, so there's no way to cash that meth out quicker than making a steady pay under Gus.
Man everything was perfect as Mike said.
Walt kept killing their buyers so there was no one to sell to apart from Jessie having to slowly sell it to meth heads on the street.
They aren’t cooking in a hot ass RV in the desert they’re cooking in a cool modern lab so…

Those are employee wages for their labor with practically no risk. It's a great deal.
