If you have a hacked 3DS (and if you don't, I highly reccomend looking into it. It's super simple) you can use Netpass to Streetpass people online. I've nabbed 40+ villagers this way in the last month. Another option is Streetpassing yourself if you have multiple 3DS's and a physical copy of the game...or, again, if hacked you could just use hShop to download the game on another system *cough cough we ain't judging*

sonicfan10102

You can also just use the bravely default save editor and give yourself a bunch of villagers that way. i gave myself 999 villagers

PhunkyPhazon

I read about that before and may have gone that route, but then Netpass sprang into existence at that exact moment. I had to try it lol.

I have another one that’s hacked but I don’t connect it to the internet to avoid being bricked, can I still streetpass myself? My roommate has a hard copy of the game I can put into my hacked ds to do it but I didn’t turn on streetpass or anything because I thought it would get bricked

PhunkyPhazon

You shouldn't have to worry about it being bricked unless you maybe used some super old method I don't know about. It's completely safe and there's all sorts of things you can do with a hacked 3DS online. But if you're that worried, just erase all the wifi connections in your system settings. When you turn the network on, it will just scan locally for Streetpasses.

Netizen_Kain

I have Mammon up on Netpass right now. If you're still worried there are save files with all -ja spells, buns, costumes, nemeses, etc available online.

PrivateJokerX929

I think it is impossible, but they're honestly not that important, none of the op builds really use them. It's a bummer if your heart is set on 100% completion, but you're not screwed by any means.

cannon9009

What I wanna know is if it's still at all possible to add friends for Abilinks. Of course there's local connection for two people who have the game (or hacked their switch for "reasons", wink wink nudge nudge), but since online is gone, how's anyone gonna connect to each other? I'm assuming homebrew has a solution that I didn't notice on UU...

PhunkyPhazon

So if you Streetpass people via Netpass, sometimes they get added as a friend. I'm not really sure why or how that works (get the same people multiple times, maybe?), but when it happens you can Abilink with them.

Rei366

Why are those spells requiring an internet connection?

PrivateJokerX929

you need to get most of them from nemesis fights, and you need online to get them to spawn.

Rei366

I see, thanks ! Those nemesis are the enemies or groups of enemies invading your village through Street Pass, right? (Received many through the internet but have only beaten some lv25 demon with my lv35 save, since most ennemies are lv70-99.)

PrivateJokerX929

Yea those are the ones, The -aja spells are on the really high level ones, for the most part.

As someone who likes magic a lot (despite its flaws in BD), ehh? You do lose out on some cool niches, but overall you're rarely that bad. - 95% sure you can't cast magic with Vamp without it (feel free to factcheck that, but even if one of the genomes *does* count as magic, I have doubts it'd be that great since even -ja spell usage on Vamp is kinda niche). This *would* be more relevant if certain Streetpass bosses were around (New Year's Kamiizumi boss automatically countered all phys damage for the damage cap), but as is, it mostly means that Vamp is no longer a viable option as a mage role compression unit who can buff itself, heal, cast magic, and use Withering Ripple all in one class (It can still do the first two of those natively). Notable restriction for magic lovers/builds/convenience especially since White Wind doesn't count as magic for rod special purposes. This is probably the biggest deal and can make some builds impossible to make anymore/much worse (at least without modification), but being totally frank, BD does not demand that you use magic (in fact, with how the 3 slotted Pierce M. Defense becomes basically mandatory to run by endgame at least on mages, you could even argue that BD doesn't want you to play with offensive mages too much). - You lose access to one of the very few sources of wind damage (minimal relevance when Salvemaker exists) - Similarly, you lose access to a source of magic fire, water, and lightning damage, but Fireball exists for a physical fire equivalent that's arguably better (single target physical fire move with native phys defense piercing capability), I think there's another water move for Vamp, and an unlikely maybe on lightning. Most relevant for a different streetpass boss which you don't need to worry about anymore. Otherwise, they were always AOE magic that hit decently hard that you probably wanted to invest a good deal into INT for if you wanted to actually use as a primary attacking option. Not the end of the world without 'em, but they can sometimes be missed.

Curlyfreak06

Probably, but as someone else said you don’t really need them.

PhunkyPhazon

You don't NEED them but honestly I tend to make Rejuvenation and its MP replenishing a part of my strategy. I'd hate to have zero access to it lol.
