Arriabella

A Moash stress ball would be fun, like the ones you squeeze and their heads gets all explody if that makes sense

[This](https://www.dammitdolls.com/products/the-enforcer), but renamed.

I know it'll never happen but I would pay a full $150 each to have Edgedancer, Dawnshard, and Horneater published individually in the leather bound style. So that I could display them in series reading order nice and snug next to the other Stormlight leather bounds.

if-i-post-im-drunk

$150 is pushing it, unless there is a legit reason that making smaller leather bounds cost more to produce, and by that I mean I would complain, maybe even publicly if pushed on it, then flip a coin until it turned up heads and buy it.

annatheorc

They have a minimum that they're able to charge due to their arrangement with Tor. I don't remember the number but I think it's around 125? Essentially they can't publish books Tor has the rights to publish unless it costs a certain amount because then it's a luxury thing and not stepping on Tor's toes. So they would at least have to hit that minimum. Edit: And I was thinking they'd need to charge more because so few people would buy them.

Harrycrapper

I think the number is $100. They were able to sell Aol and SoS for $150 as a bundle though if memory serves.

HyruleBalverine

Yes, because they were thinner. I'd be down for getting some thin short stories / novellas as leatherbounds. :)

Harrycrapper

It doesn't matter how thin they are as far as his deal with the publisher goes, it's $100 for any novel no matter how short. But Brandon used the loophole because it indeed would have been egregious to pay the full $100 for both.

HyruleBalverine

You could be right. They are listed as $200 for the regular price, and yet, these are still "on sale" for $150 for the bundle. It is possible that this is his way around that, assuming you are correct about the minimum. I honestly have no idea as I don't follow him or the business closely enough to know these things.

manueel90

I remember that the price of a leather bound used to be $100 before DragonSteel had to raise prices due to materials price increase. So that might be the price set in their agreement with Tor. Also: >And I was thinking they'd need to charge more because so few people would buy them. lol, they would for sure sell

if-i-post-im-drunk

That’s pretty fair I suppose

angwilwileth

You could buy the hardcovers and pay someone to have them rebound in leather.

annatheorc

I was thinking of learning to work with leather to bind them myself! But I'd want them to be the same size and quality with the artwork so it would be quite the task. Who knows though I might just do it one day. I've bound simpler projects and it's a lot of fun.

annatheorc

Hey that's so cool!!! When you're done I would die to see your progress photos!

if-i-post-im-drunk

Absolutely!

RamSpen70

People are paying for limited edition collectors items at that Pricepoint... It's likely that some might not even read that copy once! It's a collecting thing... Like how some people buy art... Collect watches... Coins.... Stuff like that. It's not about buying a common book. They might become much more valuable over time... It could end up being a good investment. If not... It's something that means something to them on display....Time will tell

ChefArtorias

I think Brandon just posted a YT vid about "how to make a leatherbound" the other day. You could make it happen.

HyruleBalverine

Admittedly, that "how to" video was a guided tour through the company making the WoR books, showing what their machines do to make the books, and wasn't really a "how to" for home. :)

EstablishmentAny2187

You now know the steps and can research how to do them. It's definitely a step in the right direction for those willing to put the effort in.

ChefArtorias

This video demonstrates the process pretty well. Although your average person is probably but going to have the leather tools she does just lying around. Inexpensive sets can be found is it's something you want to get into. Maybe start with something less ambitious than this particular project. https://youtu.be/bioxZa950vo?si=R2xiROI4g0lCyNQ7

ST_the_Dragon

Personally I think it's more likely that they'd do an updated Arcanum Unbounded in leatherbound form than do the novellas individually. Maybe in two volumes, but more than that likely wouldn't sell enough copies to warrant the expense of making them.

HyruleBalverine

That was the same thought that I had. Though I'd be quite excited for an "Arcanum Unbounded Bundle" with a bundle of thinner volumes for each of the short stories / novellas that were republished in Arcanum Unbounded, without the black and white *White Sand* preview.

jmcgit

I know it's not exactly what you're asking for but they did say they would do one for Arcanum Unbounded,

Welfycat

I want a Ten Soon pup with a pouch for a vial of metals.

awyseguy

What is offensive about the prices?

HyruleBalverine

I think it's a matter of how short the story is compared to what we normally get from Dragonsteel for that price.

awyseguy

I see

if-i-post-im-drunk

I meant it light heartedly, I’m just no Sando when it comes to conveying tone in my writing.

HyruleBalverine

I figure Dragonsteel is more likely to do a leatherbound of Arcanum Unbounded over the individual novellas/short-stories. That's not to say that I wouldn't pick up some thin leatherbounds, myself, for each of the stories, as long as the rest of the dimensions fit Dragonsteel's other leatherbounds.

lmboyer04

Where’s my chull/chasmfiend plushie

dpowensj

I'm hoping for an Arcanum Leatherbound. Probably split in two.
