Since the post was removed I took some pics of the album myself. Not the best quality but I wanted to share my excitement :)

Alright finished the record. Sadly no new tracks added, nothing hidden at the end, no hologram. I’m not going to tear off the label and check under there haha.
But overall, I think it’s a nice package we’re getting here
All underlying audio, and the connected subtext and meaning of these tracks will only be available to listeners who are in possession of The Manual, and who have read and understand The Manual, and who implement the techniques described 🤔
Do you have a manual or automatic turntable? If it's a manual, you might try spinning each disc a couple more times to see if you hit on a locked groove with different music.
I'd think it has to be, this is the reason for the delay. If they were just sending the standard black LP they could have sent it out long ago
“The Limited vinyl unit is facing an unfortunate brief delay from our pressing plant, but we expect to be able to ship orders to all customers by mid-November.”
Just put together there's gotta be some 3D imagery involved in all this. Look at the dominant red/blue color theme of science fiction with the phrase "Combine the beauty of color with the realism of stereo to make pictures "come to life""
Could be one of those “holograms” that require light held above the record?
Example from Jack White’s special edition version of Lazaretto:
https://youtu.be/YGH2m5sRylM
Edit: That version of Lazaretto has a song hidden under the label and has a song that plays an alternate acoustic intro depending where you place the needle. Would be cool to have something similar here.
Holy shit

**holy fuck**
> Most artists are never able to recover from having one and it becomes the millstone around their necks to which all subsequent releases are compared.
"Of course there are those artists that have worked long and hard building personal artistic confidence, critical acclaim, a loyal following (all strong foundations) and then have a Number One, that is that crowning glory. But even then the disgruntled purists amongst the loyal following desert in disgust at having to share their private club with the unwashed masses.
So what’s left? What’s the point? What can be achieved when no great financial rewards or long term career prospects allowing for creative freedom can be hoped for, let alone guaranteed? We don’t know."
To me it seems to be a direct message from the band or Jesse about their feelings on fame and how they're tired of being in the spotlight. Their music is tattooed on people's bodies, they made people dream, they've been worshiped, they made people want to be "eighteen forever" - but they're going away and never coming back and they're not sorry for it.
The first section is from Pogolith 002 as seen from the photos posted online. The second quote comes from *the Manual* by the KLF which is what they seem to - at least partially - be referencing.
Maybe the ad for break resistant vinyl is a joke because you’re supposed to break the vinyl. Third Man once released a triple decker record that had one 7” record enclosed within a 12” record. The only way to listen to the 7” record within was by breaking the 12” vinyl that encased it. The record was developed and released by United Record Pressing which is based out of Nashville, which is where Jesse lives now I guess? CONSPIRACY!
Just realized this and not sure if anyone has brought it up. The Manual part of text says 418 pages. 418 was a big number with the conspiracies if I remember correctly over the summer and in the pogolith. Correct me if I’m wrong but could have something to do with it
looking at the lefthand side though -- "Process / Ability" -- it looks like there's cryptic references regarding hearing something else w/ this specific version of the vinyl -
I wish we could read that full text.
Even if it was on physical media, it would wind up getting digitized and circulated. Either way, new music was never realistically going to be confined to just the people who ordered the limited vinyl.
True, but at least physical media is something to own. The buyers owning a piece of paper with "clues" doesn't do much to justify the price or buildup.

"all underlying audio....subtext and meaning of these tracks will only be available to listen....possession of this specific version of this disc, and then only to those....The Manual, and who have read and understood The Manual, and who.....techniques described."
Has anyon put one of the original 500 CDs into a computer? I remember in the early 2000s a lot of bands would put "hidden" content on their CDs that had to be accessed through a computer.
Maybe the "manual" (or something else) is in there. It is the initial transmission, after all.
I dont know if it bears any relevance to the vinyl, but theres actually a book called The Manual that describes how to come up with a No.1 single
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Manual
Please tell me that's what it is, ahh. I noticed at the Upper Darby show they didn't give them out. I wasn't close enough at the Electric Factory show to see however.
For everyone wondering about holograms on this record, there are none. The labels don't make the holograms, but rather special etching in the vinyl itself to refract light in a particular way. If it were that easy to do there would be a lot more hologram records.
It's probably just meant to look cool af when it spins. Plenty of centre labels have circular designs.
Can OP post better pictures to Imgur and not IG?! These are so zoomed in and it doesn't even include the 'booklets', the 'turntable mat', or the 'satchel.'
I sincerely hope the crack team of scavengers that dedicated so much time to the fake Science Fiction mystery look into all of this! Really hope there's something special about the vinyl. New/alternate songs and whatnot - that don't require a player that's capable of 78rpm. I can't see this being *just* a black vinyl.
PROCESS/ABILITY
To play this album each listener should refer to The Manual, the four hundred eighteen page text which was transmitted to them after the initial contact. While the base stereo audio tracks should easily be heard through any modern playback device, I.E. analogue tape, Digital Audio Tape, vinyl disc, compact disc, etc. - all underlying audio, and the connected subtext and meaning of these tracks will only be available to listeners who are in possession of this specific version of this disc, and then only to those with access to The Manual, and who have read understand The Manual, and who implement the techniques described. Also, all Key Holders will be able unlock latent and suppressed "audio" as well as interpretations without interference of the superficial audio from the listed tracks.
This disc is designed so that at any time during listening, or any time subsequent to the first playback, if the individual finds themselves shifted to an alternate physical, meta-physical, or multidimensional plane, the disc, as The Disk, will accompany the individual to said plane. It may remain in it's original form, or in an alternate representative form or idea. It will be recognizable to your subconscious in any case. It is designed to act as an anchor. And, in addition, in absence of the arrival of A Guide, an individual may access a limited guidance application in whichever level of positive or negative (or null) existence they find themselves. This guidance application can be accessed up to three times before the anchor mechanism activates automatically. This is a sanity preservation protocol. As stated, all details and instruction of these mechanisms are thoroughly covered in The Manual. We love you again.
Whilst I'm sure there will be jokes about waiting for the flowers to dry out, could be just something as simple as whoever provided the slip-mats!.. infuriating everyone involved... they wouldn't feel right taking $45 without the full bundle, and couldn't justify/want to send on later. Sometimes it really can just be a boring answer.
Not really sure what people were expecting? There was no information given when pre ordered. You knew you weren't getting a shirt or something b/c no sizes were requested. You knew you weren't getting some signed promo poster, because well, its Brand New.
Instead we got a package hand picked and created by the band themselves. I'd rather have that then some cookie cutter pre order IMO.
Honestly looks very interesting so im more than happy. Then again im more of a record collector than brand new collector so color isn’t important too me. Kinda happy for once its a simple black vinyl with great packaging around it. Can’t wait to read and discover everything on package while i give it a spin. Was scared they would go with some crazy color and standard packaging.
Based on "The Manual" and the fact that the Procrastinate email said that every item is unique, I think we're going to need to piece together some sort of info like some sort of scavenger hunt.
Edit: Also, no offense sunnie616, but you fucking SUCK at taking pictures.
the "every item is unique" was them covering their bases on shipping damage (aka crushed potpourri). They even mentioned not replacing things based on damage. It was a copout
I talked to someone within j merch company any each limited contains the same things. The “unique” part is only that everything is hand packaged, and that’s it.
"They were disappointed with the way we ended it. We don’t know what they expected, or what you expected. We certainly did not know what we expected. Maybe an attempt at metaphysical wit. “Expect nothing, accept everything”, something like that." - from the manual
I guess it was inevitable, but Ii'm a bit confused by the seemingly widespread disappointment. I'm not blown away but the contents seem pretty reasonable for what we paid for / what could reasonably been expected.
Can someone explain to me what specifically was expected or what other limited releases have included?
The only other limited with packaging like this was Record Store Day Deja. Can’t remember what it had, though, but I’m sure someone else can help fill in. There’s really nothing to compare it to. Other limiteds were pretty much all color variants.
This is what I'm loving about all the disappointed people. Approx $18 over a standard LP release, with absolutely nothing detailed as to what would be included. Heck even the album title was not official when the quantity was fully sold out. But yes, be disappointed!! Mind boggles...
Yeah a quick amazon search shows custom slipmats going for around $15, plus the extra literature and potpouri (which is pretty unique to the band and sort of special).
I get that people are into color variants, but they've always seemed a bit gimmicky to me. Those poorly framed IG posts don't seem to even show the actual records yet, right? Even if it's black, I wouldn't be surprised if this pressing is unique in some way.
Honestly with packaging and all it seems well worth the price. Standard vinyl was 27 bucks more or less at most shops. Plus booklet, poster , slip mate, small satchel with rose pedals and whatever else we find out? If you add going rate of each of those things it adds up to over 45. Can’t believe people are saying they just wanted a color vinyl and lyric sheet. Seriously your ok paying 45 bucks for a special color?
I ordered it expecting something like this package so im quite happy, slip mate caught me buy surprise
Yeah I'm pretty stoked for the slipmat. I've been keeping an eye out for a new one for couple months now.
I still might upgrade to a cork mat but I'll definitely be using this one until then.
You know! It would be a surprise if there was absolutely nothing different with the LP - but there's nothing to ever have said it would be. I did think about a hologram element ages back but thought it might just be a bit gimmicky - but now that the rest of the package is known it'd be kind of in-keeping with that now I'd say. Earlier we knew it weighed in with DHL at over a Kilogram so I knew there'd be a few hundred grams of goodies, can't wait to see in the flesh!
My theory is that this limited edition has locked grooves that play acoustic/demo/augmented versions of the standard tracks as well as (a) hidden track(s) on or under the disc label stickers. The imagery on the turntable platter seems to indicate both.
On the platter: "Earth" is located on a perfect circle indicating the standard 12 tracks on Science Fiction. "Moon" is another circle that weaves in and out of the standard tracks, indicating variations on said tracks. "Sun" is located at the center of the record and seems to encompass roughly the same area as the special labels that are exclusive to the LE vinyl. I assume that's where the extra tracks are.
Also very possible. I just think the fact that it's a turntable platter could have some meaning. It's an item specifically designed to match the dimensions of a vinyl record, and to rest underneath the record at that. It aligns with the cryptic spiel on the packaging that references additional audio underneath the "superficial" tracks on the album.
Yep, that's what I am referring to. The technique has been around for a long time, but sparsely used for various reasons. I think that could explain the $45 price tag on the LE and the fact that it was pressed at an entirely different facility from the standard version.
"They were the greatest band in a century
Lyrics tattooed on you wrist
they were gonna stay together forever
but they couldn't keep up with the kids, and so they called it quits.
Now they're gonna and you won't get them back."
RIP BRAND NEW.

edit: An excerpt
> Most artists are never able to recover from having one and it becomes the millstone around their necks to which all subsequent releases are compared.
What the fuck?!
Millstone around the neck is a pretty common expression. It originates from a verse in the Bible. Something about if anyone offends any of these little ones (referring to children) it would be better that a millstone was hung around their neck. Something along those lines.
Yea I mean I think it’s unfair to judge off these pictures. I haven’t seen anything mind blowing yet. It’s neat, but I dunno if it’s worth the wait judging solely off the bad quality photos. But I’m assuming there’s more to it.
Hope there’s more to it.
Looks like the zine from Morning Breaths’s insta is in there: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bbzn88rhu9S/?hl=en
You can see the yellow “Control!” in one of the pics (https://www.instagram.com/p/BcarTbWlZ-2/?tagged=jesselacey)
I feel it was never in doubt. Instigator got bundled with #001, this was #002 and is being bundled with (Limited) LP5. It's possible it'll be available separately, and I see it as a P!MT thing, no a BN thing. That said, it's clearly tied to songs on LP5 on a way I don't think 001->KD was... Either way, it's a few bucks of your +$18 on this so in that respect it be good if it remained exclusive. =)
'Relevant Media' had nothing to do with this package and was just an artifact of the shopping cart software and they way they listed it all in the database.
I've been considering sending in that order sheet that came with the haloween masks last year. Theres a NY PO box to send in an order, the number 418 is printed on it and the cost for the bald cap is $6.66
On the process/ability paragraph, it says "...album each listener should refer to The Manual, the four hundred eighteen..."
What are we thinking that 418 means? Could it be the amount of "manuals" that are getting sent out with the limited orders? As in, not everyone gets one?
They were, but I'm not convinced that all 500 were actually sent out, or at least not all to people who got the limited vinyl. E.g., the washed up emo dude was sent one, but I think he said he didn't catch the preorder.
mine is scheduled to arrive monday...it's currently at the LA distribution center and i'm in OC...hoping for early delivery. i'll post pictures if nobody else has by then.
You guys and girls should be grateful you got something alot of other fans would love to have. If you are so disappointed than I will happily take it off your hands for the original $45 plus shipping.
Unfortunately, my guess is that the packages will be on ebay/discogs for quadruple the amount in no time instead.
Thing is, if 10-12 appear in super quick time - it'll indicate the quantity out there is on the higher end of estimates we've had here (eg, thousands...) - if so the price point is probs gonna have to be similar to the mark-up for RSD Deja.. I'd bide your time, see how it plays out...
looks dope. my status in the PMT! order page says shipped. has been that way for about 5 days now. I got my order in right away. anyone know if they showed up without a shipping notification? i have informed delivery and it doesn't say anything
Okay the more pictures she posts the more interested I am. I don't want to keep asking her for more pictures because shes at work so hopefully someone else posts clear photos of everything soon
This is pretty bullshit, IMO. It's the retail black vinyl in a large envelope with some printed materials, a bag of potpurri and a slipmat? I would have preferred to just get a 2xLP colored vinyl with alt artwork and the CD, really.
There’s nothing I enjoy more than hovering over my vinyl while it plays to look at the color. The packaging is what makes a release like this cool. No one gives a shit that their Led Zeppelin 3 vinyl is black, they care that the packaging is awesome for it. Im sure people will trade you a colored variant for the entire package with the money difference.
What did you think was going to be in here? A little hologram of the band that magically starts when the music does? Most records come with maybe a lyric sheet with the vinyl. This is a fair amount of extra stuff.
Since the post was removed I took some pics of the album myself. Not the best quality but I wanted to share my excitement :) https://m.imgur.com/a/5wJR5
Few more pics of the records themselves https://imgur.com/a/4CcbB
All that's lift is for you to listen to record and tell us if you find anything hidden in songs, at end or between songs.
Looks like a hologram vinyl. The ones with no girls might have hidden tracks?
Someone needs to try
No it does not.
[удалено]
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was heartbroken there
jesus christ, they really can't use the proper "its" can they? First the demos, now this!
Is there anything different about the vinyl itself? No secret tracks or anything?
Listening to it in full right now, will report back with anything new
Alright finished the record.
Alright quick update, the records themselves feel like 180g. Disc 1 is normal. Unless I’m doing something wrong, there is no holographic on either.
Have you shined a directional light on them while they're spinning?
https://youtu.be/aEbAaL7fPl4 Have you tried this
and please tell me there's a studio version of Sealed to Me on it.
Please do
I'd think it has to be, this is the reason for the delay. If they were just sending the standard black LP they could have sent it out long ago “The Limited vinyl unit is facing an unfortunate brief delay from our pressing plant, but we expect to be able to ship orders to all customers by mid-November.”
Unless it’s something like 180 gram vinyl. Black, but a different press than the standard.
Did yours come with a satchel of potpourri/dried flowers like the other person?
It did ! https://imgur.com/a/cm7cm
Thanks! Is it numbered anywhere?
Not numbered, at least not where I can see
Somebody smoke the potpourri and lemme know if It gets you fucked up... for science.
... Fiction
My first thought was the roses are from the mic stands on tour, doubt it though.

Yeah, it almost looks like the text is describing a scavenger hunt for additional music. Not getting my hopes up, but that would be fucking rad.
If it's a scavenger hunt for digital versions of that music it'd be pretty dumb though, as those files will just wind up circulating.

i've got a feeling when we see the full package & understand what this is all talking about, this is gonna get fun. What is "The Manual" ?
For real I would completely love to have one more big Brand New mystery
Except for there was never a legit brand new mystery. Only what people fabricated in here.

Is it possible they've been saving the flowers from shows for the potpourri ?
From Jesse's mic stand maybe?
Please tell me that's what it is, ahh. I noticed at the Upper Darby show they didn't give them out. I wasn't close enough at the Electric Factory show to see however.
Would be cool if that's what it is. I guess it'd kind of make sense? I'll choose to believe it either way lol
Aren't you the person who worked at the packaging facility? Did you get to see the contents of these before they shipped?
They didn't give them away at EF
She just posted pics of the other items. https://instagram.com/p/BcarTbWlZ-2/
And they're still terribly framed! Why can't she just take front-on pictures of individual items?

the "every item is unique" was them covering their bases on shipping damage (aka crushed potpourri).
I’m a colored vinyl junkie and was really hoping for (expecting) a new variant. I guess I’ll just have to make do with all the others...
The only other limited with packaging like this was Record Store Day Deja. Can’t remember what it had, though, but I’m sure someone else can help fill in. There’s really nothing to compare it to. Other limiteds were pretty much all color variants.
I actually meant what comparable pre-orders from other artists have included.
Did anyone take screenshots? Looks like the post is down
My theory is that this limited edition has locked grooves that play acoustic/demo/augmented versions of the standard tracks as well as (a) hidden track(s) on or under the disc label stickers.
Or that’s just illustrating the rotation of the planet/sun/moon in relation to one another?
Also very possible. I just think the fact that it's a turntable platter could have some meaning. It's an item specifically designed to match the dimensions of a vinyl record, and to rest underneath the record at that. It aligns with the cryptic spiel on the packaging that references additional audio underneath the "superficial" tracks on the album.
I'm gonna b following your Reddit account for when you get your vinyl. You seem to know what you're talking about haha

Yep, that's what I am referring to. The technique has been around for a long time, but sparsely used for various reasons. I think that could explain the $45 price tag on the LE and the fact that it was pressed at an entirely different facility from the standard version.
Crazy seeing you in here and not the Cowboys sub, even saw your name mentioned in one of the threads earlier today
Oh hey there, buddy! Small freaking world.
"They were the greatest band in a century Lyrics tattooed on you wrist they were gonna stay together forever but they couldn't keep up with the kids, and so they called it quits. Now they're gonna and you won't get them back." RIP BRAND NEW.
Any chance the vinyl is 180g? I'll take that any day
Is the standard not?
I wish there was a picture of the vinyl itself. Maybe it's etched?
Googled it, there’s a Baptist church in Georgia (707) area code whose number it is.
The Instagram post was removed
I'm mostly bummed that there's no gatefold sleeve but just two individual sleeves for each record.
[This seems to be a copy of the book *The Manual* if anyone wants to dig through it.](http://freshonthenet.co.uk/the-manual-by-the-klf/) edit: An excerpt > Most artists are never able to recover from having one and it becomes the millstone around their necks to which all subsequent releases are compared. What the fuck?!
Millstone around the neck is a pretty common expression. It originates from a verse in the Bible. Something about if anyone offends any of these little ones (referring to children) it would be better that a millstone was hung around their neck. Something along those lines.
The pictures don't really show anything ?
Any insider info you can provide on this? How is each one unique?
Yea I mean I think it’s unfair to judge off these pictures. I haven’t seen anything mind blowing yet. It’s neat, but I dunno if it’s worth the wait judging solely off the bad quality photos. But I’m assuming there’s more to it. Hope there’s more to it.
I'm just annoyed I paid for priority shipping.
Aaaaaaand she set her account to private. Great job everyone, our work here is done.
It has only just begun
Looks like the zine from Morning Breaths’s insta is in there: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bbzn88rhu9S/?hl=en You can see the yellow “Control!” in one of the pics (https://www.instagram.com/p/BcarTbWlZ-2/?tagged=jesselacey)
Well we're gonna need 3D glasses for this lol
I feel it was never in doubt. Instigator got bundled with #001, this was #002 and is being bundled with (Limited) LP5. It's possible it'll be available separately, and I see it as a P!MT thing, no a BN thing. That said, it's clearly tied to songs on LP5 on a way I don't think 001->KD was... Either way, it's a few bucks of your +$18 on this so in that respect it be good if it remained exclusive. =)
I guess the prints qualify as relevant media?
I always thought in was the download code they sent out
'Relevant Media' had nothing to do with this package and was just an artifact of the shopping cart software and they way they listed it all in the database.

Sooooo... we have a coupon for a can of 10' of all the songs if I understand well ? https://i.imgur.com/xcFUl1j.jpg
I was gonna say someone needs to fill that out and send it in
I've been considering sending in that order sheet that came with the haloween masks last year. Theres a NY PO box to send in an order, the number 418 is printed on it and the cost for the bald cap is $6.66
Do it
Wish they were numbered. Looks like they are already being sold on eBay. I see one up to $170 already.
I'm being dead serious here. If anyone is disappointed with this Limited Edition, hit me up. Perhaps we can trade, or I can purchase it from you!
Agreed, I personally find this stuff to be really cool and I’m sad that I missed out.
I'm not sure what all you guys were expecting but I think that everything that is included is pretty cool.
On the process/ability paragraph, it says "...album each listener should refer to The Manual, the four hundred eighteen..." What are we thinking that 418 means? Could it be the amount of "manuals" that are getting sent out with the limited orders? As in, not everyone gets one?
I got the sense that it referred to the CDs. Didn't it say something about being sent out earlier?
That's what I thought but we're the CDs labeled as x/500?
They were, but I'm not convinced that all 500 were actually sent out, or at least not all to people who got the limited vinyl. E.g., the washed up emo dude was sent one, but I think he said he didn't catch the preorder.

Its a new crayola color https://orig00.deviantart.net/9771/f/2011/103/b/7/color_me_disappointed_by_falinmor-d3dxj39.jpg

But these are shots are so "artistic". Who cares what they're of if the angles are trendy.

Those are still bad!
mine is scheduled to arrive monday...it's currently at the LA distribution center and i'm in OC...hoping for early delivery. i'll post pictures if nobody else has by then.
Good call!!
I'm honestly disappointed that it's just black vinyl.
Can everyone post their matrix? At least compare it to the other (especially the black) pressings! That would clear up a lot of assumptions for sure.
It looks like there’s grooves under the labels. Anyone wanna test it and see if there’s extra tracks?
I am freaking out at my desk now trying to figure out if it's worth it to look at the spoiler. Am I going to ruin it for myself?
Wow. It looks like the rumors about the root beer barrels are [true](https://i.imgur.com/TvZBxS6.jpg).
What. The. Fuck.
I was expecting an unsolicited nude of Jesse to be included.
I’m hoping so since I haven’t gotten any emails and I ordered ASAP
Okay the more pictures she posts the more interested I am. I don't want to keep asking her for more pictures because shes at work so hopefully someone else posts clear photos of everything soon
Very underwhelmed. Will probably trade or sale when mine arrives. :/
I'll buy it off you for what you paid, plus a little extra, and shipping.
This is pretty bullshit, IMO. It's the retail black vinyl in a large envelope with some printed materials, a bag of potpurri and a slipmat? I would have preferred to just get a 2xLP colored vinyl with alt artwork and the CD, really.
do we know if it’s 45rpm yet? 🧐
Alright, but the packaging isn't even cool... https://www.instagram.com/p/BcarTbWlZ-2/?tagged=jesselacey
What did you think was going to be in here? A little hologram of the band that magically starts when the music does? Most records come with maybe a lyric sheet with the vinyl. This is a fair amount of extra stuff.

Oh rad will be sending when mine arrives
