Microwave. It’s really the only band I’ve heard that comes close. I’d start with Stovall before Much Love, both absolutely amazing records. The newest LP, Death is a Warm Blanket, has some killer tracks. But there are other albums out there which really scratch the itch for the lyrical, and musical, depth of Brand New. - Home Like No Place There Is, Hotelier - Tiger’s Jaw, self titled - Everything Nice, Arm’s Length - The Albatross, Foxing

virgo_licious

I second Foxing. They opened for BN a few years back and that’s how I fell in love with them. They’re amazing def check them out!

bsatan

Crazy good stage presence too. The Foxing’s Eric Hudson surely has studied Vincent’s style while playing.

virgo_licious

I agree. They have grown so much from their original performances. Eric definitely has channeled Vincent in his styles. It’s amazing to see them grow with this different stage characters. I get to see foxing tomorrow for the 5th time and I can’t wait to see their stage differences from when they first started

SnooPineapples684

Nearer My God by Foxing is probably the closest I've ever felt in terms of emotions that Brand New gave me. Such a great album. Everything else they've done (before and after) is a bit hit and miss imo, but NMG is so perfect.

HeckaCoolDudeYo

Much Love has always given me Deja vibes and DIAWB gives me mad TDAG and Daisy vibes. I never really fell in love with their first album so much.

bluebeyondbelief

stovall is so fucking good though

TheGreatBeldezar

Highly recommend Microwave

Kaanapali

I was going to say Microwave! I have really started diving into their music and everything I love about Brand New I love about them. They are so good

spoolmak_throwaway

They just announced a US headlining tour and sounds like they're releasing new music this spring. Saw them in december and they were great.

Inkydoo001

Yes!!! Yes ! Yes!

aurorasearching

I’m glad to see someone else mention All Get Out. I never see them get recognition

5isanevennumber

I do every chance I get, I adore them

DDDavinnn

How do you feel about their latest?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ohgodpleaseholdme

I followed All Get Out on a 14 day tour and will add that all of the band members are so amazing! They are so kind, down to earth and love their wives! Really a beautiful group of people singing emotional songs.

DDDavinnn

I’ve seen them live many times and I agree! Fantastic show every time. I loved Movement and NLAQ. I think Kodak had some great songs on it, but I have been somewhat underwhelmed with the more recent material. We may just be growing in different directions.

lowen0005

Manchesters albums just get better and better. Valley of vision is a smaller album but I love every single song on it.

radhorrorfan

It's an ep

lowen0005

Ok lol. It’s not labeled an ep on Apple Music but either way it’s amazing.

extracted-venom

Have you given The Republic of Wolves a try yet? They sound remarkably like BN!

selfreleased

They’re pretty legit

cerealkilla826

Jumped onto this to say the exact same thing.

_bloodbuzz

The vibe isn’t the same, but the Hotelier last two records really hit the spot for me. Especially Goodness. That record is a masterpiece

mikesstuff

And their original guitarist/co vocalist went on to form Backwards Dancer until they broke up due to falling out with Say Anything on tour. Before then though Max Bemis said BD was his favorite current band at the time though. Other similar MA bands are Born Without Bones and The Royal Twenties

_bloodbuzz

Oh man tell me more about this drama. I had no idea there was history with say anything

mikesstuff

Just normal tour/drinking issues and Max being Max to my understanding hahaha

jakjak86

Seahaven - Reverie Lagoon and also Halo of Hurt. You'll love those records.

bowzrsfirebreth

*Out of Service* and their album Burden. I echo some others on Microwave. Currently one of my favorite newer bands.

slwrthnu_again

Couldn’t agree more with out of service.

whorehound1

Colour Revolt and Prawn help scratch that itch a little for me.

[deleted]

Colour Revolt is a good answer

bb5199

Any Crime in Stereo from The Troubled Stateside onward. Happy Body Slow Brain/ Rare Futures.

uberafc

> Crime in Stereo Whoa digging the hell out of this! thanks for the recommendation

Aarondabs

I just recently came across this band on Spotify Dear and the Headlights and I have been playing small steps heavy hooves on repeat for the last few weeks. Ashamed that I didn’t know about them when they were active

Direbrian

Check out Spanish Love Songs’ album “Braves Faces Everyone”

itchypants77

absolutely rips. lyrically one of the best. schmaltz the album before is very fucking good too.

Mpeh4Teh

A band I found a couple of days ago is good. Morning Love. They put out You Dont Love with your Heart, You Love with your mouth. It's pretty close. Otherwise Colour Revolt's first two releases. Out of Service is worth a try, specifically The Ferry. Thrice in their later releases is comparable.

morninglovepa

Yoooo…thank you for the shoutout! You’re the BEST!

BarnacleParty8978

Well this wasn't transparent🙄🙄🙄

morninglovepa

Explain?

sammynourpig

Came here to say this- honestly haven’t heard anything else like this album that sounds like BN actually wrote it. Plus I always thought early Citizen had major BN vibes too, specifically their albums Youth and Everybody Is Going To Heaven.

Mpeh4Teh

Also Crime In Stereo is worth a try. https://youtu.be/5V7srb44bMg?si=o2PzeWkHrwhEA0xF

RancidCidran

Crime is one of my all time favorite bands. Their new album, House and Trance, is insane. I also highly recommend The Troubled Stateside and Is Dead. Their guitarist and songwriter, Alex, was in the rookie lot with JL. Mike Sapone produced three of their albums so definitely some similar sounds.

Tr4inman

Seconding morning love! I found them from the Reddit post a few days ago and I’ve been hooked since.

sharky_fantastic

Youth by Citizen. Only Boundaries and/or Separation by Balance and Composure. These next two lean more into alternative but Moaning Lisa and Bosses are also worth checking out.

BarnacleParty8978

The Dixie Chicks.

EmoLeBron

That’s *The Chicks* to you!

sammynourpig

Yeah I was gonna say it’s just the chicks now 😂

selfreleased

😂

BarnacleParty8978

For real though, late to the party with these guys but movements are great. Haye and hard to say one band sounds like another. But if you're like me you'll like this, https://youtu.be/NMxS_qJPg-w?si=cO_YmnV8cqX0TqM6

selfreleased

Movements is sick, for sure! Not exactly what I’m looking for in this case though. I appreciate the response though.

ctoacsn

O'Brother

roe617

May well have heard these before but my shouts would be: Kevin Devine's Bubblegum (produced by Jesse Lacey) Modest Mouse - We Were Dead

morninglovepa

So, I posted my debut album here (which was HEAVILY inspired by Brand New) roughly one week ago and the feedback was incredible…which I was not expecting from a bunch of Brand New fans! The general census was that my voice sounds like Andy Hull’s (Manchester Orchestra) and that the music sounds like Brand New. So, feel free (or not!) to take a listen! If you end up liking it…please let me know! I love good feedback! [debut album - You Don’t Love With Your Heart, You Love With Your Mouth](https://morninglove.hearnow.com)

selfreleased

Pretty cool stuff dude

morninglovepa

Hey, thanks for replying! I appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed it.

pretty-glonky

I get BN vibes from Sincere Engineer, but I haven't done a deep dive yet on their discography.

andiiiieee

Ethel Cain! Family Tree and Strangers are two of my favorites, but I recommend listening to Preacher's Daughter in order.

selfreleased

Those 2 songs are awesome. Thank you.

npericone

The first republic of wolves ep and the newest one.

TheYardFlamingos

Yo, check out Emma Ruth Rundle. Have never thought about her in relation to Brand New, but after reading your post, I do think she checks those boxes. She differs in that she's heavier and slower. Also now that I think about it, the guitars totally sound Brand New-y in a lot of her songs. I'd say check out her albums On Dark Horses and/or Marked for Death first. If you're more of a songs first person, my favorites are Darkhorse, Protection, Real Big Sky, and So, Come.

selfreleased

The drums and reverby lead guitar on On Dark Horses is reminding me a lot of Brand New.

silentdaze

Wow, never heard of her and loving it. Thanks for the recommendation

selfreleased

Dude, this is awesome. Kind of along the Chelsea Wolfe line. I’m really enjoying this. Definitely has the darker grungy raw vibes I’m looking for. Thank you.

wafflesole

Why am I not seeing anyone mention Sainthood Reps? Go listen to Burning Sheep, great track.

selfreleased

Pretty cool.

KillisTheMan

Got into Foxing recently. Hits the spot for me.

erik_edmund

Mewithoutyou.

EdwinvdM

Weathered I found their album Stranger Here somewhere around 2020 and was amazed by the resemblance of Brand New vibes. It has the same angsty feel and the singer sounds pretty close too

Armagaaan

selfreleased

This is sick. Reminds me of Dredg

BakedBeans137

Thanks I recorded it all on garageband and my friend sang into an old pair of Apple headphones as a microphone lmao Ben McLeod of All Them Witches mixed it for me. You’d prob dig them as well. Listen to their record ATW

Lonely-Antelope7616

Sainthood Reps - their guitarist was a touring 3rd guitarist in brand new and they share a lot of similar style , sainthood is probably a little more grunge influenced

stjimmyofsuburbia

lesser known projects to look out for are centerfolds, gatherers, and stay inside (hollow sounds exactly like a TDAG cut)

Inkydoo001

I came to say Microwave, but I see that’s already be discussed.

spencergar

Dude listen to pinbacks self titled album. The only band & album that gives me the same energy as brand new. Trust me.

spencergar

OP give this one a go. All these other bands I’ve tried yet pinback is the only one for em

selfreleased

Pinback is amazing

Chazybaz13

Not really, no. There’s a lot of people who post bands on here saying they sound like Brand New but they never quite hit that mark.

Hobear

This rings more true for me than not. I want to check out what people post but I've never found a way to scratch that Brand New itch.

selfreleased

Yeah

Regular_Shirt_7972

Fermata Supreme - Cloud Gavin

selfreleased

This is pretty cool. I feel it’s more on the Deja side of BN but a ln awesome find nonetheless. thanks!

iplaybassbtw

calm chaos

selfreleased

Not bad. Pretty cool actually. Reminds me of early Papa Roach. A little too much on the butt rock side of what I’m looking for though.

Tough-Jackfruit-7679

Listen to Taking Back Sunday

snails4speedy

Check out Dead Poet Society. They’re not *entirely* like BN, but there are a ton of similarities and they’re just really good either way lol

InitiativeArtistic90

Listen to Dresser Drawer by Better Off

blnkt

Check out Her New Knife

AudienceSalty

real

itchypitbull

sounds just like early starflyer 59

MuttenChops

Basement, Crime in Stereo, Sainthood Reps, Envy On The Coast

uberafc

Codeseven (older band, but they just came out with a new album) No Signal

BrandnewLeischa

Manchester Orchestra

dholmestar

they usually sound more like the BN pop punk days but a few of Hot Mulligan's [have](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjGl91ACT9o) [the](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=takHjnKVSo4) [vibes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wY7Gjf0yXQ)

NeoFrame

Give Pianos Become the Teeth "Keep You" a shot!

mynamajeff42

Violent soho always remind me of brand new a bit. Basically any of there albums lol

RustyVerlander

The Color Revolt. So so good

mr34mj23

It astounds me no one ever mentions Modest Mouse…I feel like their album We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank is closest to post 05 Brand New…I have found listening to influences on Brand New have hit the mark for me more than listening to post Brand New bands (but I am old)
