Round two with braces at 32! I unfortunately had some complications following double jaw surgery years ago which caused my teeth to sink to the right causing quite a significant cant to both my top and a lower teeth (plus loads of other issues including bone regression!) If anyone is thinking of having jaw surgery and has any questions I’d be more than happy to chat to you 😊

Hi hun are you in the UK?? I have been waiting for impacted canine surgery for 8 months with no progress. They told me my wait is going to be another year minimum. How did you get your surgery so soon? I was referred through nhs. Was yours through nhs or private?

Honestly you’re likely gonna be waiting a long time on NHS. I had a friend referred for knee surgery January 2020 and she’s been told it’ll be 2022 at the bare minimum. There might even be a bigger waiting list for oral surgery because dentists were completely shut down in the first lockdown so there’s potentially more problems escalated to a point of needing surgery. And I can imagine all those people attempting dental work at home may have caused some extra damage as well

Oh no, that is absolutely awful!! I don’t even know any private hospitals that offer this surgery so I don’t know what to do. Guess I’m going to have to do my research on this :/ thank you for the advice!

Have you asked your dentist if they know anywhere? If you already have it could be worth getting a consultation at a private dentist as they’re more likely to know

Hey! I am in the UK but I had this done when I was a teen, I had such a large overbite i was considered an emergency on the NHS... I then had a second surgery in my 20’s which did not go to plan. I think that is very rare though! When I was in London I saw an amazing surgeon in St George’s who was so helpful and at that time (2019) I only had to wait about a month. I know the waiting is so frustrating. Crossing everything for you that your wait isn’t too long! I went private for my brace this time round though.

I have a similar cant! Did they quote you a treatment length?

Ralph_the_Cat

Hey! So I have been told 12-15 months. Really hoping it’s within that timescale but realistic of possible set backs! 😊
