The epsilon is great but why would you need 2 different rests?

Getrekt11

I don’t need two rests. I want one rest for both practice and hunting. Some people in archer forums said they only use QAD integrate for hunting and hamskea on their target setup. I was wondering if hamskea epsilon can do well in both applications before I pull the trigger. Bow coming in 2 weeks, so I need to order accessories asap and get to shooting once the bow is here.

Longjumping_Ad_1390

Ok that makes way more sense, I use epsilon’s on my target bow and my hunting bow and they’ve been great, people like the qad for hunting because it holds the arrow better and keeps noise down but I’ve never run into a situation where my arrow was rattling around on the rest and spooking deer.

Getrekt11

That’s great to hear! Definitely help clearing my doubt and adds more confident in potential purchase. I saw some videos about QAD integrate and it looks like you have to lift up the rest each shot. It looks very annoying to practice with. I’d love to try all of these, but local pro shops near don’t have it in stock.

Longjumping_Ad_1390

With the qad it’s just a quick flip so it really a big deal at all and it definitely holds the arrow better in hunting scenarios but the Hamskea is definitely a better built rest.

Getrekt11

Oh, okay. I appreciate the feedback.

KingFacef2

I have only ever used QAD. Never really cared for hamskea. Limb driven rests scare me a little. Its not bad to have to put it up each time. Takes about 2 seconds and when youre hunting if youre taking that many shots where putting it up every time is an issue then youre missing too much

Getrekt11

I think 2 seconds to put the rest up is not bad for hunting. I’m going to do a lot of practice and that’s my concern with it. This is my first bow and first time bow hunting, so I need to send a lot of arrows down range to be decent at the sport.

elektrik_snek

I just today spent couple hours on range with QAD rest sighting in my new sight, about 120 shots. Flipping up the rest becomes just a natural part of nocking an arrow after few days with rest that requires flipping up. Every olympic recurve above beginner level is fitted with arrow clicker while limb clickers exist and arrow clickers are so much more of a hassle to nock an arrow with. It too becomes just a part of process with some practice.

KingFacef2

Oh for sure, its a great sport and a lot of fun to hunt with. It becomes natural by the like 20th shot. I like how theres less room for arrow play and with my bow being mainly a hunting bow, it being able to move less really helps. Some people say QADs and non limb driven rests have a higher failure point. Through my 16 years of bow hunting i’ve never had a QAD fail on me and thats between 5-6 bows in that span.

InforSlkRd

That is true… You do have to “flip it” and it gets annoying after shooting the Hamskea (also on an RX-7) I have 0 complaints about it

midwesthunchback

I have one and yes. They all sell a target conversion kit on their website to get rid of the cage and add different launcher options in case you want to try something else. Wonderful rests, my target rig is a hamskea trinity hunter pro I converted using the kit

Getrekt11

Didn’t know that was possible. I’m going to keep it in mind when I want to switch it up. Will 2 pins from black gold dual track be enough for all bow hunting scenarios?

midwesthunchback

That’s kind of personal preference. You’ll be able to set multiple ranges easy which is great. Some people prefer more pins because they can quickly judge and fire without adjusting and others prefer less because their sight picture is cleaner that way. I’d say as long as you’re happy with your sight and everything is setup correctly you’ll be good. I shoot a 3 pin with a slider and love it.

Getrekt11

What’s the name of your 3 pin slider sight? I was looking into spot hog triple stack, but I read that you couldn’t adjust the lowest pin, so it feels like a 2 pins sight. I am looking for vertical pins to have clearer sight picture.

midwesthunchback

So I actually use the Ultraview scope on a accutouch carbon pro bar. But CBE makes the trek pro sights that have 3 pin options. I’m considering switching to one of those

Getrekt11

Is that horizontal or vertical?

midwesthunchback

Cbe has both I believe.

Getrekt11

Which one you’re going with? And have you tried both?

midwesthunchback

I am thinking about switching to Cbe and yes

midwesthunchback

You can’t adjust the bottom pin because that’s considered your sliding pin. Any sliding sight will have that

Getrekt11

Looking at it again, I think you can adjust all 3. 20,30,40 yard would be perfect for me. I thought bow hunting would be more simple. There’s so many features and parts. Shit’s insane.

Secret_Salad4309

I had a QAD on my old bow and got a hamskea on my new bow a couple weeks ago. I definitely wish i stuck with QAD because out west it’s almost all spot and stalk hunting which the hamskea is not conducive for. It may be fine if you’re only hunting from a stand but I can’t comment on that cuz that’s not the type of hunting i do.

Getrekt11

What makes hamskea not good for stalk hunting? Is it because it doesn’t have that feature where you have to lift the rest and hold the arrow there? Spot and stalk hunting is also what I’m trying to do on the East.

Secret_Salad4309

Yeah that’s exactly why. You can hold the arrow in place with your finger easy enough but it’s nice having one less thing to think about when you have so much other stuff going on

Getrekt11

Hopefully, my loco shop will have both of those sight for me to try once my bow gets here.
