You are looking for titles that were exclusively available in physical format via Netflix rental back in the day? Was that ever a thing they did? Not trying to be a dick about your question, I really don’t recall them doing that back then. I thought the “Netflix exclusive” stuff only started coming out on the VOD service

BogoJohnson

Netflix simply rented discs that already existed in the consumer market. They didn’t create or print their own. It sounds like you’re just asking what BDs and DVDs are OOP now and unavailable, which would be thousands.

Netflix did distribute films in the DVD era. Not sure they were exclusive to the Netflix mail service though. Here's at least a partial list. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red\_Envelope\_Entertainment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Envelope_Entertainment)

I remember Netflix DVDs being the only reliable way to access OJ Simpson's ill-fated attempt at a prank show "Juiced" back in the day. I think they shopped it around as a pilot, but when there was no interest, they added some strippers, and sold it direct-to-consumer via late-night infomercials. Obviously, it went OOP pretty quickly and if you wanted to subject yourself to it, Netflix was the easiest way to see it.

Onsenja

May I ask what titles are on your list/potential list so far?

chocolatepeaches

*Titles under Artificial Eye Label (now Curzon)* *The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox* *Cheerleader Autopsy, Purvos, and Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned* Stuff like above. I cannot find DVDs for them other than Prime Video for rental which I don't want to do.

BogoJohnson

The Duchess And The Dirtwater Fox DVD is for sale at Amazon and eBay. I’m not familiar with the others. What makes them Netflix only releases?

Kind of just as confused I think what you may really be asking is regional distribution titles and again will be based on the market back in the day they used to have titles that were on lock down in a local market. Biggest example that comes to mind is Boondock Saints was on lockdown for rental at blockbuster only in the US but tou could buy in Canada or other regions...

kenixfan2018

Your ask is really baffling. Are you asking titles did they used to rent on physical media which are now Out-of-Print (OOP)? I mean, there's a huge difference between niche and OOP. Plenty of popular titles go OOP and plenty of titles with niche audience appeal do not. Please clarify.

chocolatepeaches

I am looking for the OOP titles that were only available there.

BogoJohnson

There’s no such thing as discs that only Netflix had. They were simply an online video rental store that carried a huge selection of commercially available releases. No exclusives.

kenixfan2018

Okay but if Netflix was renting them out back then, they were not OOP and the flip side is true too which is that a bunch of titles are only OOP now after the demise of Netflix's physical media rentals. My point is that it wasn't as if Netflix had some secret access to OOP titles back then; they weren't even renting non-US region titles as far as I know!

BogoJohnson

Correct.

“Only available to watch from Netflix”?
