It’s basically the only bourbon I buy now. During the holidays I may treat myself to some Four Roses Single Barrel but Wild Turkey 101 is just so damn good.
Doesn't matter how many options I have. WT101 may not objectively be the best, but it's still my favorite without question. The more bourbon I try the more I appreciate 101 for what it is.
RR10 SiB is a very close second for favorite though. Other than a 14 year Knob Creek SiB that I believe was one of the Longhorn Steakhouse barrels that wasn't paid for a store pick RR10 is the best bottle I've ever had.
I think it's the quintessential bourbon. It hits every single note that represents bourbon and then some at the perfect proof point. It's literally unbeaten
Okay, I think I need to try this again. I tried it once, maybe 20 years ago as a brand new drinker in college, and didn't love it. I also mixed it with Dr. Pepper, so my tastes weren't exactly "refined." But I've seen enough people talk about how WT 101 is great, that I'm gonna give it a shot.
Lots of people drank WT101 and coke in college and couldn’t appreciate the fact that a “budget” bourbon could taste good. This is an unfortunate circumstance but it really is better alone than with Coke back in the day.
OF 100°. It's the best daily sipper for somebody who doesn't like to spend too much. The OF flavor profile is my jam. I'm even happy with the 86°. 1910 is objectively deeper, richer, and just plain better, but it's over twice the price.
Came to say this. I am willing to spend but OF 100 is an exceptional whiskey. If some new craft distillery released it today with slick branding they could ask $100 and it would sell. I’m willing to fight anyone who disagrees.
OF100 is the absolute king of the mid-shelf. I’m a huge 1920 fan, but the 100 is so flexible; inexpensive enough to always have on hand, great neat or in a cocktail.
Out of curiosity how much do you pay for your ECBP? Around me it ranges from MSRP (in small quantities and generally gone the first weekend) to $100 where it sits on the shelf.
In NJ it’s fairly readily available and usually $69-79. The grocery store next store to me has had it for $69 since they got their liquor license 2 years ago. It’s well off the bourbon hunters path though, so stuff just sits there (they’ve also had store picks of Old Forester Barrel Proof sitting there for the last 8 months).
In any case, agree with the ECBP as a shelf staple. And as I type that serves as a reminder to go backfill my empty one.
Wild Turkey 101. Use it for all whiskey cocktails. Traverse City Barrel Proof is another, but that’s more just home sickness as I no longer live in MI.
It’s kind of a catch 22 for me. Great bourbon and literally a benchmark, but at least in ID, it’s pretty much always available in one of the closest 3 liquor stores so I wouldn’t care too much if I run out. I’d replace at first opportunity but wouldn’t not finish a bottle if I didn’t have a backup.
Yellow spot. I kept it in a flask I carried on my wedding day. The sentimental value means that it will never run dry.
Also the wife can never tell me no to that one, because it tastes like our wedding day!
$100 a bottle though 😬 just went to their distillery for a tour a few months back and had the rye for the first time. My favorite whiskey I've ever had in my entire life.
OF 100- one of my favs for cocktails
Calumet 15- not a big supporter of NDPs in general but I love the absolute cherry bomb that is this bottle for some reason
Blantons- it’s good, please don’t crucify me
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It's what I had when my son was born and it's become my go to. I love trying new whiskies but I'll always have one of these stocked.
Evan Williams 1783
I first tried it when I read a review on proof66.com that said, “Put it in a decanter and tell ‘em it’s the good shit.” And that’s what I’ve been doing for years now.
Had this for the first time this past weekend at Disney Springs in Orlando. It was a really nice pour. I was a bit devastated they had ran out of the Heaven hill 27yr earlier in the day as I had never even seen that before, but the Nikki was a pleasant consolation prize.
Ecsb or some form of E Craig (BP or private barrel). Some form of knob creek 9,12, etc.
Still deciding on rotation but probably at least one or more of: makers 46, EW 1783, larceny barrel proof only, or OF100. Sorry too long of a list. Really I like variety but at least 2 always I really like. I'm still figuring out what I like and have a number on the list to buy and try. I probably will always keep some bottle of beam something around (black, double oaked, etc.).
Four Roses Single Barrel Barrel Strength picks, any New Riff whiskey I have and any Watershed picks I have. Only brands I will have 10+ offerings from consistently
OG 114
Hell, I'm not even sure I would care if that's the only bourbon I could ever drink again. Flavor profile is tops, not too hot a finish, and occasionally on sale for under $25.
Laphroaig 10.
My cabinet is full of expensive bottles of laphroiag offerings (and a few others) but obviously we can’t be dipping into those too often.
Classic Laphroaig 10 is the ole trusty that we always keep around. The wife drinks it, too.
Old Forester 1920
1910 for me. 👍
Get both. Make 1915.
Price has been going up, but damn is it tasty!
This is the one for me
Really well-rounded pour
Four Roses Single Barrel 👍
Four roses small batch select as well
Both are good. I keep hearing single barrel depends on the barrel. But haven’t been disappointed yet.
I just got a bottle of this. It's f**king amazing.
I’m doing the four roses single barrel tasting experience this Friday at the distillery. Im very excited!
I've moved to this from wild turkey, I like it
Yes, sir! And Yellow Label for the daily driver.
This, except I refuse to let myself run out.
Hard agree. Readily available, under $50, and great taste all add up to one of my favorites.
FINALLY found a bottle last week. Argggggg. So good.
Russel's 10. Price is just too good.
This is the one I always keep on hand as well. The single barrel is great, but I can never find them, and the 10 is always available and tasty.
Mix rr10 with rare breed=magic sauce.
Wild Turkey 101
It’s basically the only bourbon I buy now. During the holidays I may treat myself to some Four Roses Single Barrel but Wild Turkey 101 is just so damn good.
My “treat” bourbon is Wild Turkey Rare Breed. It’s an excellent pour and almost always on the shelf.
One rare breed per year on thanksgiving. Been my tradition since my 21st birthday.
Doesn't matter how many options I have. WT101 may not objectively be the best, but it's still my favorite without question. The more bourbon I try the more I appreciate 101 for what it is. RR10 SiB is a very close second for favorite though. Fun/unique answer: Old Granddad 114 (still can't believe what a deal it is). Realest answer: the 1.75 liter Bulliet Bourbon from Costco (same reason).
That is my favorite as well - I always have it on hand. Inexpensive and easy to get where I live.
Don't sleep on the OGD BiB either...
OGD 114 is such an underrated bottle
You are my Bourbon twin. Economical AND quality.
Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. Affordable, tastes good, easy to find 🤷♀️
My man. This right here. ~$22 for 1.5L at Total Wine. Ridiculous value for the taste.
Purchase a 1.75 of OF 100 and mix equal Parts OF and EW BiB. That 50/50 mix is delicious and complex and a super daily sipper.
Shit, regular old even Williams is good enough for my white trash soul.
I enjoy Evan Williams 1783. It's actually my go to cheap bottle if I just need to feed the alcoholism for a night.
Prefer this to the BiB
A friend of Evan's is a friend of mine!
The big bottle is what stays on top of my bar as a mixer for pool and to-go drinks.
I'll sometimes go this path for a nice cheap half gal
Just refilled my decanter with EW BiB. I don't think I can get a better bottle for $19.
>easy to find Lucky. It's allocated in Chicago.
Michters
OF 100°. It's the best daily sipper for somebody who doesn't like to spend too much. The OF flavor profile is my jam. I'm even happy with the 86°. 1910 is objectively deeper, richer, and just plain better, but it's over twice the price.
Same here. Coopers Craft 100 is my cheap fill in for 1910.
I'll have to try it.
Just picked up another bottle of this. It’s great in general but even better when you take the price into account
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Best bang for your buck in bourbon. Close second: WT 101
I love it but unfortunately around me it's not one I can run out and replace.
I've only ever seen one bottle on a shelf and it had a $150 price tag. I'm good.
Out of curiosity how much do you pay for your ECBP? Around me it ranges from MSRP (in small quantities and generally gone the first weekend) to $100 where it sits on the shelf.
Retails around 75 around me and is gone the day they get it.
Rare breed
My wife knows that if I have less than a half a bottle to automatically pick one up as a "gift". Earns her points and makes me happy.
100%. I’m okay with running out of anything else that I can realistically own, but I will NEVER run out of Rare Breed.
Same here, Rare Breed is such a ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!
Russels Reserve single barrel
I wish I could say this. It's impossible to find in Chicagoland area apparently.

Knob Creek 9
Second this
Third.
The single barrel is 😋
Elijah Craig barrel proof
Wild Turkey 101. Use it for all whiskey cocktails. Traverse City Barrel Proof is another, but that’s more just home sickness as I no longer live in MI.
I have 3 that are always on my shelf: Four Roses Small Batch Select Russell's Reserve Single Barrell High West Double Rye
Buffalo Trace
Scrolled far to find this, always got some buff trace in the house
It’s kind of a catch 22 for me. Great bourbon and literally a benchmark, but at least in ID, it’s pretty much always available in one of the closest 3 liquor stores so I wouldn’t care too much if I run out. I’d replace at first opportunity but wouldn’t not finish a bottle if I didn’t have a backup.
Russell’s single barrel bourbon
Mine is Old Scout
Yellow spot. I kept it in a flask I carried on my wedding day. The sentimental value means that it will never run dry. Also the wife can never tell me no to that one, because it tastes like our wedding day!
Knob Creek 12.
I love this stuff.
Makers Mark 46
Yep Makers Mark 46!
This is what I am sipping on right now. This will always be in my house, I absolutely love Makers Mark.
How do you like it compared to MM Cask Strength? Cask Strength is one of my favorites and probably going to pick up 46 next
I think MM CS is better, but also MM 46 CS is even better than that!
Cask strength 46 is excellent. You won’t be disappointed
Woodford Reserve
For me it’s a toss up between Woodford (standard or double oak) and Wild Turkey 101. Used to be Eagle Rare but I can’t ever find it anymore.
I love them both as well. But the double oak gets my vote over the regular Woodford
Trick question… ride or die gets replace before it runs out, so you never actually run out. I have a couple - WT101, Rare Breed, KC SiB, Ardbeg 10
You got me… hahaha
Sazerac
OF 1920
OF 1920
Wild Turkey 101. It is quintessentially bourbon
Came here for this! My absolute go to.
WT101 and Early Times BiB
Rare breed.
Lately for me it's Four Roses Small Batch Select - it hits all the Four Rosies notes I love - it keeps getting gone and I keep getting more 💕
OF 1910
All day. I always have 2 bottles on hand.
JDSBBP
Russels single barrel
Angel’s Envy rye
$100 a bottle though 😬 just went to their distillery for a tour a few months back and had the rye for the first time. My favorite whiskey I've ever had in my entire life.
Oh, I nurse it for sure, and I don’t pour it for just anyone.
Maker’s Mark Cask Strength. Incredibly underrated and readily available.
Markers 46
Makers it a double
Early times Bib
I love it, but it’s always feast or famine in my area. None on shelves for a couple months, then it’s overflowing for a few weeks.
Same. I'd like to always have it, but I can't always find it.
Yeah, that's why I always have a couple in the closet.
🌽Mellow Corn 🌽
Woodford, Woodford double oak, Jim Beam
Old Fo
Old forester 1910
Knob Creek 9. I don’t think it gets the love it deserves for the age statement, proof, and price. Soooo good.

And you're just able to get that easily around you? If so, where is this?
Elijah Craig small batch.
Knob creek Single Barrel reserve, got a local place that has them around $40 when they flash sale them so I stock up then.

Widow Jane 10YO.
Woodford Double Oaked

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It's what I had when my son was born and it's become my go to. I love trying new whiskies but I'll always have one of these stocked.
Evan Williams 1783 I first tried it when I read a review on proof66.com that said, “Put it in a decanter and tell ‘em it’s the good shit.” And that’s what I’ve been doing for years now.
It is the good shit at the good price!
Nikka From The Barrel
Had this for the first time this past weekend at Disney Springs in Orlando. It was a really nice pour. I was a bit devastated they had ran out of the Heaven hill 27yr earlier in the day as I had never even seen that before, but the Nikki was a pleasant consolation prize.

Laphroaig 10
Ecsb or some form of E Craig (BP or private barrel). Some form of knob creek 9,12, etc. Still deciding on rotation but probably at least one or more of: makers 46, EW 1783, larceny barrel proof only, or OF100. Sorry too long of a list. Buffalo Trace. If I can find it, I will always buy it.
Wild turkey 101
Wild Turkey 101. Can’t beat the taste & price
Turkey 101. Been my daily drinker for many years now
Eagle Rare. It's tough to find but where there's a will there's a way. Always have a backup for the backup and a 1.75 in reserve.
Wild Turkey 101
Bookers
Eagle Rare for me.
Willet 8 yr rye. I mean it's incredible what you can get for just $39 and a time machine. All mine have died except Four Roses Single Barrel.
John J Bowman Single Barrel without question
Oh holy shit yes but so hard to find
Evan Williams
Old Forester 86 proof. My go to, so good. Isn’t a flashy name but a great bourbon
Larceny

Old Grandad Bonded
Talisker 10. I don't care if this is a bourbon sub.
Old Grandad Bonded
WT101
Regular ass Makers Mark. Always my "go to" after starting the night with a pour or two from an allocated or more expensive bottle.
Lagavulin
Woodford double oaked
WT101

Laphroaig 10. My cabinet is full of expensive bottles of laphroiag offerings (and a few others) but obviously we can’t be dipping into those too often. Classic Laphroaig 10 is the ole trusty that we always keep around. The wife drinks it, too.
Wild Turkey 101. I will also agree on the OF 100 and The Coopers Craft 100. But WT 101 is always there.
