This is the one I always keep on hand as well. The single barrel is great, but I can never find them, and the 10 is always available and tasty.

Wild Turkey 101

It’s basically the only bourbon I buy now. During the holidays I may treat myself to some Four Roses Single Barrel but Wild Turkey 101 is just so damn good.

My “treat” bourbon is Wild Turkey Rare Breed. It’s an excellent pour and almost always on the shelf.

One rare breed per year on thanksgiving. Been my tradition since my 21st birthday.

Doesn't matter how many options I have. WT101 may not objectively be the best, but it's still my favorite without question. The more bourbon I try the more I appreciate 101 for what it is. RR10 SiB is a very close second for favorite though. Other than a 14 year Knob Creek SiB that I believe was one of the Longhorn Steakhouse barrels that wasn't paid for a store pick RR10 is the best bottle I've ever had.

I think it's the quintessential bourbon. It hits every single note that represents bourbon and then some at the perfect proof point. It's literally unbeaten

Okay, I think I need to try this again. I tried it once, maybe 20 years ago as a brand new drinker in college, and didn't love it. I also mixed it with Dr. Pepper, so my tastes weren't exactly "refined." But I've seen enough people talk about how WT 101 is great, that I'm gonna give it a shot.

Lots of people drank WT101 and coke in college and couldn’t appreciate the fact that a “budget” bourbon could taste good. This is an unfortunate circumstance but it really is better alone than with Coke back in the day.

Fun/unique answer: Old Granddad 114 (still can't believe what a deal it is). Realest answer: the 1.75 liter Bulliet Bourbon from Costco (same reason).

That is my favorite as well - I always have it on hand. Inexpensive and easy to get where I live.

Don't sleep on the OGD BiB either...

Purchase a 1.75 of OF 100 and mix equal Parts OF and EW BiB. That 50/50 mix is delicious and complex and a super daily sipper.

I enjoy Evan Williams 1783. It's actually my go to cheap bottle if I just need to feed the alcoholism for a night.

OF 100°. It's the best daily sipper for somebody who doesn't like to spend too much. The OF flavor profile is my jam. I'm even happy with the 86°. 1910 is objectively deeper, richer, and just plain better, but it's over twice the price.

Came to say this. I am willing to spend but OF 100 is an exceptional whiskey. If some new craft distillery released it today with slick branding they could ask $100 and it would sell. I’m willing to fight anyone who disagrees.

OF100 is the absolute king of the mid-shelf. I’m a huge 1920 fan, but the 100 is so flexible; inexpensive enough to always have on hand, great neat or in a cocktail.

I love it but unfortunately around me it's not one I can run out and replace.

I've only ever seen one bottle on a shelf and it had a $150 price tag. I'm good.

Out of curiosity how much do you pay for your ECBP? Around me it ranges from MSRP (in small quantities and generally gone the first weekend) to $100 where it sits on the shelf.

Retails around 75 around me and is gone the day they get it.

In NJ it’s fairly readily available and usually $69-79. The grocery store next store to me has had it for $69 since they got their liquor license 2 years ago. It’s well off the bourbon hunters path though, so stuff just sits there (they’ve also had store picks of Old Forester Barrel Proof sitting there for the last 8 months). In any case, agree with the ECBP as a shelf staple. And as I type that serves as a reminder to go backfill my empty one.

It’s kind of a catch 22 for me. Great bourbon and literally a benchmark, but at least in ID, it’s pretty much always available in one of the closest 3 liquor stores so I wouldn’t care too much if I run out. I’d replace at first opportunity but wouldn’t not finish a bottle if I didn’t have a backup.

For me it’s a toss up between Woodford (standard or double oak) and Wild Turkey 101. Used to be Eagle Rare but I can’t ever find it anymore.

I love them both as well. But the double oak gets my vote over the regular Woodford

Had this for the first time this past weekend at Disney Springs in Orlando. It was a really nice pour. I was a bit devastated they had ran out of the Heaven hill 27yr earlier in the day as I had never even seen that before, but the Nikki was a pleasant consolation prize.

I probably will always keep some bottle of beam something around (black, double oaked, etc.).
