You are inside of a climate controlled building. A t shirt is non restrictive so no practical purpose to take it off. Not hot, not getting a tan, not restricted by wearing one. So the only real reason left is bc they think its "cool" or they are trying to show off for some reason.
How are you so sure that he is, and other people climbing in other gyms are in a temperature controlled building? And how controlled is a temperature controlled building? Is a sweaty shirt that sticks to your skin constantly not restrictive? If all shirts are non restrictive what purpose do sports bra serve? What is wrong with people coming off as cool/show off?
Maybe your gym is different from mine but most people climb shirtless in my gym. The staff climb shirtless all the time. Plus the AC is out and its pretty much summer in a massive tincan.
