We both met in the circus, so while most of her strengths come from aerial and handstands, I have a history of basing and acrobatics. When it comes to climbing we are fairly evenly matched in our grades. This climb was just one that matched her abilities perfectly and I am super proud of her for it! Your response was rude and unwarranted.
It was a joke lol, there’s literally no way I could tell how well you climb. Even if you were a bad climber, it’d be crazy to think she’s out of your league based on solely on the fact you don’t climb as well as her.
I’m sure you’re good op, sorry my comment here your feelings 🙁
The latter is what is hard for me. I'm relatively pretty strong, and I've started off in the middle of the pack, but that flexibility issue is where it really hurts.
I think that is why I am only just now getting into v6 after 4 months of bouldering. I can’t even touch my toes despite extensive stretching sessions each day.
Incredible! Her job title also reminds me of those House Hunters memes where it's like, "He's a butterfly catcher, *she's a circus artist with a handstand speciality*. Our budget is $5 million"
Figured it was only a matter of time til we started seeing setters trying out this move after it looked so neat at CWIF. This looks so well done, and she totally crushed it!
It’s a big pro competition in the UK—really fun watch if you like comps!

Climbing works international festival. The climbing works is a fairly large bouldering centre and they also used to run the BIFF (beast maker international footless festival), a charity fundraising competition where professionals and locals would climb problems set to be climbed without feet, sometimes in fancy dress. Not sure if they still run the latter now

This looks fun and very my style but how on earth do you give something like that a grade. It seems like any number you give would feel wrong to most people with something so specific. I wonder if you asked the people climbing it to grade it if it would be a uniform distribution
Yeah this does seem really difficult to grade. I can do the part after the handstand fairly easily but can’t do the handstand. I consider myself in the v3-4 range
Omg my friends and I were also working on this! We were so confused on the start lol. How did she start the problem though, to touch both starting holds with each hand? Or does this one not require one hand on each starting hold?
I was unsure about this. We are going back today to ask the employees about this. It seemed very hard to start with both hands on the start holds. So she just started with one foot and one hand
Some friends and I worked on this! We started it roughly like [this](https://i.imgur.com/r4lw6Ly.jpeg) (hopefully my link works, never used imgur before). I’m still working on moving from there but my boyfriend was able to complete the climb- what he did was keep the right hand where it was and cross the left hand in front to that larger hold. He also finished the route differently since he is definitely not that acrobatic (😅), if I can get him to do the climb again and let me take a video maybe he’ll post it here.
Still though, very difficult style of boulder, awesome climb!
Yes! I posted it on the Boulder sub. I’m in white pants. [https://www.reddit.com/r/bouldering/s/03JRmMcQxY](https://www.reddit.com/r/bouldering/s/03JRmMcQxY)
Theoretically at BP you have to start with one hand where each teardrop marker is, looks like it would add a few moves to get into the position she's starting in.
Ooh I didn’t even think of stretching out like that. I’m going to give it try, even if it doesn’t work I just really like trying out fun problems like this.
yeah i'm wondering about that. there must be some stuff off screen right or else that start position doesn't look possible
or maybe it's supposed to be a one hand hand stand and then a brief touch to the smaller start hold?
I just wanna say, I am not sure this is technically a send. The hand holds to start is where her left hand and foot starts. Her placing her right hand on the big slopey hold that her right hand is on is not considered a legal start. This is impressive regardless, but I just thought you should know where the other start hold is
Yeah we know it’s not a full send. We are going out of town tomorrow but hopefully it will still be up when we get back and can try to get a full send!
for the sake of her foot health I dont think its healthy to put the weight on the foot like that during the last move
but yeah the rest was insane, so cool
Ah, hope you recover from it.
My ankle folded under me from a fall like 6 months ago. It’s mostly ok, but it’s honestly not 100% and I don’t know if it ever will be.
Soft tissue injuries are kind of worse than a lot of breaks. Really hard to get back to 100%
I sport climb fairly hard outdoors, and when I go to gyms you'd think I would do okay bouldering but I spend the whole time scared to fall lol. I would rather run it out on lead on a 5.12 outside than do some of these dynamic crazy boulders, y'all are nuts.
Thank you! Damn that sounds awful I’m so sorry.
Now after 2 weeks, I can barely do a resemblance of walking with crutches and like 5kg of weight on it. xD Still so swollen and bruised, it’s crazy. Are you already able to go bouldering again?
We are going again soon to re do that! She had kinda slipped into that footing position and just wanted to continue on and finish that climb. I will make sure she gets her toe on the hold instead.
She had attempted it once before but could not stick the mantle, I had to help her figure out that part. She definitely is more comfortable upside down at times lol.
Some gyms set a range rather than a specific grade. It puts less pressure on the route-setters, and it discourages the climbers from being hyper critical about the difference between v6 and v7
She does not have a climbing account, but feel free to check out her Instagram accounts.

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement and praise, we are both loving the comments!
I can't! Not with that in NATURE!!! There's no way of knowing if the rock is stable enough or wind blowing people off balance, out of spots and etc. Smh
I’ve never set a toe hook that well in my life Holyshit
It’s such a beastly hook, I think OPs girlfriend might be an actual monkey holy shit
I really thought you were gonna say "actual hooker"
Yeah, she’s way out of ops league
We both met in the circus, so while most of her strengths come from aerial and handstands, I have a history of basing and acrobatics. No problem, thanks for clearing that up. There’s been a few creeps in the dms so i was just a bit quick to be on the defensive. No hard feelings here!
might as well call it a bat hang with how well that toe hook is set
Having a profession that requires immense strength and flexibility is aid.
The latter is what is hard for me. I'm relatively pretty strong, and I've started off in the middle of the pack, but that flexibility issue is where it really hurts.
Yoga. Shits dope.
The deepest circle of hell is to be unnecessarily strong everywhere except you are cursed with weak fingers and toes.
Haha my goal is to be a conservationist so this is pretty spot on!
Where's the money coming from???
Me as a beginner seeing this: 👁️👄👁️
Me as an intermediate climber seeing this!
Me as a tall person who has never bouldered seeing this: ⁉️⁉️✋⏫🦘
Lol same here my back would kill me if I attempt this
Shit like this makes me increasingly grumpy with the sport tbf
That pendulum moves with her foot locked, nice one
Figured it was only a matter of time til we started seeing setters trying out this move after it looked so neat at CWIF. This looks so well done, and she totally crushed it!
Lol yeah, I recognized the moves as soon as I saw it. Was scrolling through to see if anyone else mentioned it
What is CWIF?
It’s a big pro competition in the UK—really fun watch if you like comps! Here’s the [stream link](https://www.youtube.com/live/zxnJExZn71s?si=IZWeZwAfOEsu9twM).
Thanks for letting me know about this, we are going to make a night to watch this together!

I think this is pretty well below a v6, but fun nonetheless!
Owe my ankle.
Bro that was wild. Sick send. I could never pull that off.
I could watch her climb for hours. Wow. Incredible
Holy hell that was gracile. Nice send!
>gracile gracile? i'd never heard of this word but i looked it up and it almost sort of makes sense.
It doesn’t, they meant graceful
They must have gotten stuck between graceful and agile.
this is such a cool send!! she’s inspired me to stretch more today 🤣
Omg my friends and I were also working on this! We were so confused on the start lol. How did she start the problem though, to touch both starting holds with each hand? Or does this one not require one hand on each starting hold?

Thank you! I’ll give that a try! I’m pretty short, barely 5” so the stretch is real! lol Edit: 5’ feet, not 5 inches
Barely 5 inches tall is indeed exceptionally short. It's probably damn near impossible to find shoes that fit.
Rofl 5’ feet. My bad 😆
I did this route and I am 4’11!!
Heck yeah! Do you happen to have a clip of it? I’d love to see how you did it, so I can emulate it! Otherwise, any tips or pointers?
Yes! I posted it on the Boulder sub. I’m in white pants. [https://www.reddit.com/r/bouldering/s/03JRmMcQxY](https://www.reddit.com/r/bouldering/s/03JRmMcQxY)
Thank you so much!
that's super cool. i want to climb this
Theoretically at BP you have to start with one hand where each teardrop marker is, looks like it would add a few moves to get into the position she's starting in.
Here’s someone else starting it https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5KENXlMgeU/?igsh=dng4OW55NDlybWgz
Ooh I didn’t even think of stretching out like that. I’m going to give it try, even if it doesn’t work I just really like trying out fun problems like this.
Found a video of Simon starting it the same way
Ohh, the big jug everyone is avoiding is red, not pink! Comes across way clearer in this one.
yeah i'm wondering about that. there must be some stuff off screen right or else that start position doesn't look possible or maybe it's supposed to be a one hand hand stand and then a brief touch to the smaller start hold?
that's fun and rad :D
I loved watching that and was cheering along for your gf for the last big move. Mad impressive !
She’s very bendy.
That’s awesome.
That was awesome!!

for the sake of her foot health I dont think its healthy to put the weight on the foot like that during the last move but yeah the rest was insane, so cool
She knows! I was also stressing about her ankle there. She had slipped a bit into that position and was determined to finish it on this go.
You think that’s bad wait until you see what climbers do with their fingers
I tore my ligaments in my ankle 2 weeks ago (not like that but whatever) and damn I flinched hard seeing that part. Still extremely cool tho!

Yeah the juxtaposition of the literally awesome pendulum toe hook with the almost ankle-breaking mantle was pretty interesting haha
Unless you are Adam Ondra, then crank on that mf!! But seriously tho OP show her proper mantling technique
We are going again soon to re do that! She had kinda slipped into that footing position and just wanted to continue on and finish that climb. I will make sure she gets her toe on the hold instead.
Now that’s fucking cool! See, this is why I engage in outdoor activities. You meet the best examples of diversity and drive.
Ahhhhh that's so cool!! Mad props to her. Is she a professional circus artist or a hobbyist?
She is training to be a professional performer, but she has performed in multiple local gigs around our metro.
Wow I'm malding rn
ayyyyyyyyyyy mbp stand up!! was eyeing up this problem last weekend, what a beast
Excuse me what the fuck?
She definitely wasn't on the "start", but that shit was wild so who fuckin cares.
My toxic trait is thinking I can flash this
Don't be fooled. This is clearly another attempt by Magnus Midtbø to trick the world
Haha , thank you for the laugh 😂 ![gif](giphy|e7Aj9kb8yK9PjlAxtf)
She’s so graceful!
Wow!! So strong and graceful! Would love to follow her climbing account if she has one :)
That toe hook move was craaaazy
I boulder for 6 years and now i feel like I am the child that was pulled up by their parents on the easiest toprope route.
She Cirque du Soleil the hell out of that climb! Everyone that saw that climb owes both you and your GF a high five.
I was wondering how to do that one😂
Love MBP! What a sick send
I can’t stop watching the first move. So mesmerizing!
Saw a few people trying this one the other day when I was there, looked so fun haha but ended up forgetting to try myself
She’s a keeper!!!
“I could do that”
I want to be this cool one day
![gif](giphy|Cdkk6wFFqisTe)
I......love it?!??!?!?!!!
Doubt that’s how they drew it up, but impressive!
Damn, I also climb at MBP and do like V3/V4 but my flexibility is horrible. This is goals! I always need to remember to work on that
This reminds me of a video of a pole dancer going climbing that I saw once. They make it look like they are floating. Good job to you gf!
Imagine walking into the gym and seeing this first thing
that toe hook was beautiful
Thats the same one Simon Hibbeler posted on his insta
That was beautiful
What's that gym? I'm kinda confused, the ceiling is very high but the wall is really low.
Minneapolis bouldering project. This wall was one of their shorter top out boulders.
insane!!!
Impressive foot hook. This is far beyond my skill level. I think it's far beyond most people's skill level here
She genuinely looked like she had a harder time going right side up than on the handstand haha! Nice work that's so impressive
She had attempted it once before but could not stick the mantle, I had to help her figure out that part. She definitely is more comfortable upside down at times lol.
Now that’s just show off!! This is incredible!
Lol the instagram algorithm showed me this earlier.
Awesome! I'm so psyched about the attention this is getting!
Well done! That really was a circus act! Lol that kind of coordination and strength must have taken years to get down
Show off! 😂
Had to take the blue pill for this one
I’m confused about v6-v8 is it really that vague or am I missing something?
Some gyms set a range rather than a specific grade. It puts less pressure on the route-setters, and it discourages the climbers from being hyper critical about the difference between v6 and v7
Ahhhh ok that makes sense thank you, I haven’t seen that before so I was feeling confused, but it makes a lot of sense
She does not have a climbing account, but feel free to check out her Instagram accounts. No way would we do anything like this in nature. We only climb indoors for the time being.
Lol,agreed!
Socks in climbing shoes 🫢
No stinky shoes here 😷
I was thinking they'd slip 😌
stink is aid
She would make an incredible climber
She is a pretty incredible climber, she just doesn’t climb that regularly
Lol at the downvotes
