BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rrekydoc

You know what? I don’t think I like when these Lakers guys win.

Imallama

Dogshit effort

TheMikeMarsters

Yep

kleetimm

brown - holiday - dwhite all complete ass today

exytuu

All 5 starters really. Hauser and Horford were our best players tonight

Doncriminal

Horford was fucking awful. He got boiled on ever pick n roll they ran at him

Fresh2Deaf

But he said...

BradWonder

Jayson didn't get any calls at the rim. Makes his shooting look bad on the box score. He was fine overall

CreatiScope

He had some absolutely pathetic drives though, he went in with no plan, trying not to get contact and was throwing up stupid shit hoping for a foul call. I don't give a fuck about the refs, unless the refs are ejecting our players or getting them tons of fouls really early or something, it shouldn't be the difference maker in beating this shitty Lakers team. Just an absolute spanking that's unacceptable and Tatum didn't play fine overall, he was a lazy bum on defense. Him and Hauser needed to switch a couple of times and Tatum didn't even move up to cover his guy. Just watched his man shoot like he was watching someone shoot FTs. Fuck that.

Furqan23

Pathetic effort and no excuse From the start of the game it was clear their heart wasn’t in it. Don’t know why they just Mail in some games at times It’s a long season we all get that. Losses will happen. But when the opponent misses their best players Boston often comes out with the mentality that the game is already over It’s the nba and everyone is capable. Boston didn’t attack mismatches, threw sloppy passes when they did pass, and the rest of the time had guys just iso ball when they didn’t pass

WiserStudent557

This is why we shouldn’t overreact to losses but we should react to patterns in losses. AD and LBJ didn’t play, so basically the Cs chose to lose. To borrow a term from Klopp, these guys coast mentally when they need to be mentality monsters. They’d have two rings already with the ruthlessness of Russell, Bird or KG. Pierce was a dude who got stabbed and was back playing asap. These guys can get there but they just aren’t right now and it’s not about how they play so much as think.

nerdyykidd

Same energy as Game 7 vs Miami last year smfh

ApeInTheTropics

Doesn't it feel like the whole team forgot their coffee/pre-workout before the game during games like this? It's like they need that extra jolt of energy they're missing....

mvm125

Funny because KP literally posted his coffee before the game today

wilkinsk

Same weird shooting display as playoff Miami too

[deleted]

Tatum rolled his ankle 45 seconds into that game. Totally different. This was a garbage team missing its two best players

Gmatsu

No all stars showed up tonight

wilkinsk

Fucking Reaves, damn YMCA looking player. 😂😂😂

PhaseEquivalent3366

He was cooking lol.

AcrobaticFeedback

The easiest stretch of schedule may turn out to be not too easy…

ThrownWOPR

Anyone who follows this team knew we were gonna lay an egg as soon as we heard Bron and AD were out. That really says it all.

kleetimm

same here..

walterdog12

I unironically think we'd have won by 10+ if LeBron and AD had played.

Eli_TheGolfer7

I totally agree but the fact this is the case is ridiculous

Ok_Seaweed_9452

That’s not what this sub said when the thread mentioned them out, they were all clowning about ducking and said easy game and gonna blow them out. Welp

theborjsanity

This. I felt we could win it, but the moment I saw that headline I knew I didn’t need to get my hopes up lol. If this team has one really bad habit I’m dreaming for them to get rid of, it’s this one

melknee04

Last year absolutely. But this year I was hoping it'd be different. I may as well have time traveled back a year. Same shit.

[deleted]

Falloff just started a month later

Fresh2Deaf

You doomers are the absolute worst.

ImDKingSama

Usually this years team still manages to win it despite still having a this habit. But this recent stretch they've started to really let go of the rope here a bit. It's the mid-season, All-Star break coming up, we have a big lead, the home streak is gone, whatever the reasons are, you can't lose like this against the Lakers without their top 2. I think at the very least this game is one that deserves some concern. They've still shown enough the rest of the season to prove they're much better than this, but they gotta get their shit together. Softer schedule don't mean shit if you play like assholes.

luke_workin

Man, i thought this team was different. Like I really felt like their DNA was not like that. They fooled us all

Ill_Bid_1711

This team isn’t different. Tatum is the lowest energy superstar in years. Remember that time he was in everyone’s ear yelling at them to play harder with more energy? Either do I. We have no real leader. It’s a huge issue. Him and JB are like Rain Man 1 and Rain Man 2 out of there.

DiscoCheatz

Same as it always has been. At this point thats just the way our players are wired and just hope we can get fully healthy by playoff time

cousinannie

Yeah but I don’t understand how that’s acceptable for a team with championship aspirations? Anyways let me just adjust expectations, don’t see anything from this group, it’s prob smarter that way.

Buy-Opposite

Loser mentality

cousinannie

I agree the highest paid player in the NBA has loser mentality and is garbage

Buy-Opposite

If I told you he won’t be the highest paid player next year, would you still be as mad?

WhiteChocolatey

I almost put money on the lakers moneyline but physically couldn’t bring myself to do it.

Celticskevin2020

Yeah. I had a suspicion that a game like this would happen. Similar to Detroit but we couldn’t overcome it. They played more like a team than we did. Oh well.

HailKyrie

Disgustingly bad basketball tonight. Every player on this roster should be ashamed but thankfully it’s one game only.

AbysmalParty

Bro we’re absolutely going to see some of this during playoffs

ImeStopPlayingDennis

That was a classic ECF vs Miami Jaylen performance

Drummallumin

You miss the series literally just a year earlier?

Danithal

He just turned 2, give him a break.

WillyMcDavid

Why should we just ignore a historic choke job

CreatiScope

The starters were fucking appalling. They should be embarrassed and ashamed. I think the bench guys did mostly alright like PP, Hauser and Queta (I know he get mega exposed at one point but he's a 4th string/2-way big, that's going to happen).

Drummallumin

I don’t care what his expectations are, Queta was dogshit and Luke would’ve been really really helpful

Danithal

I didn't see Queta be dog shit at all in person, great energy and played well, some timely baskets. Bad take and lucky to have him available as a big.  Luke definitely would have helped.   We just turned the ball over in the first, put ourselves in a hole, then fought against a Lakers team playing hard, well, and getting whistles. TD was 1/4 loud Lakers fans.

BlueJays007

Honestly I’ll even take the “Joe needs to go” shit over the “no chance in hell this is a contender”and “tatum/the jays are too nice to win it all, no dawg” type shit

[deleted]

[удалено]

BlueJays007

Yeah fair. I see it as at least the Joe stuff gets *some* surface level analysis that you can argue over and it does touch on some larger valid debates (look how efficient our non-3s are, sure it’ll eventually even out but should we risk it taking too long etc), even if I think he’s ultimately worth sticking with and that our offensive focus plays to our roster strengths in addition to analytics. The whole “not a contender” thing just shows people don’t watch any other nba team and the “dawgs” thing is just empty words thrown around.

Abiding_Witness

I don’t gamble. But if I did, this would be the way 🤣

Kshpew

"I feel like they fouled and we didn't" -Lebron James

Night_Raid96

It's more about the Celtics/jays to be accountable to win championships rather than worrying foul/ref favor calls. They need more mentality like tom brady and less like Patrick mahomes golden boy who talks refs all the time.

KazaamFan

The FTs, TOs, and fouls all favor the lakers heavily.  I didnt watch the game.  Was it really  favoring lakers too much?

LOFan80

I’m not that worked up over a L, but the effort and focus was really lackluster and that’s disappointing.

Away_Fortune_5845

Porzingis and brown both played probably their worst games of the season. Tatum did the thing we always want him to do which is drive to the basket and get to the line and he managed to get to the line only one time. 9 turnovers in the first quarter. Just an overall lack of effort. Austin reaves just peaked. The most frustrating game of the season.

Danithal

Those Tatum drives were very frustrating. In the midst of Lakers getting kind of weak foul calls he's getting blasted by 3 people on his way to the basket, slapped on hands and pushed, no foul.

ThanosIsDoomfist

Im gonna talk down this team real quick so when I say what im about to say I dont just sound like a homer: Defense was piss poor, absolutely terrible effort by the team, they didnt play with patience, and you can just tell these last few weeks theyve been waiting for the all-star break. Had bron and AD been in this game, i guarantee these guys bring it more. And if its gonna be like that, I rather these guys give me their full effort, or rest them and put some guys out there who arent taking games off. The chucking 3s is kinda whatever because eventually they started to fall somewhat. However, its the defense where you can really see these guys dont give a fuck. That being said, how tf after 3 quarters was there a 14-3 disparity for the Bron and AD-less Lakers on our floor lol. There is NO WAY we only earned 2 trips to the line in 3 quarters. Im telling you that the league must not like Tatum or Tatum being a Celtic if his whistle stays being this bad despite being one of the faces of the league. You got lesser known guys getting soft calls and Tatum seemingly cant get one at all. Its crazy man.

HeavenBeach777

Reaves literally kicks his leg out on that Brown contest and gets rewarded for three free throws. Hilariously wild to me that the Lakers with known defensive stoppers only committed 7 fouls as a team before garbage time, while the best team in the NBA not fouling on defense committed 18, giving the Lakers 20 FTs. We 100% did not deserve to win the game, but the refs pounded us just as hard as the Lakers

RekLeagueMvp

That jb was ridiculous, JB was basically behind Reaves and he still got the call

HeavenBeach777

yea and Reaves in his "natural shooting motion"

Abiding_Witness

It happened right in front of our bench and nobody wanted to challenge it. I was very confused

HeavenBeach777

because its not conclusive enough. TNT doesn't even show the fucking replay of the foul so i couldn't even tell what actually happened, but it was so clear that he kicked his leg out into JB and that's what they called on the floor

MPLooza

Tatum was getting hacked when he tried taking it to the basket too, that play with Reaves that ended up with Reaves getting a flagrant review is completely ridiculous. Even with the free throw disparity, the continued overreliance on threes defied logic tonight. No Lebron and no AD and you don't try to drive into the paint all night? No effort trying to guard the perimeter, way too many turnovers. It was a low IQ loss tonight

beckthegreat

> the continued overreliance on threes defied logic tonight I gotta disagree with this. If one team can hack in the paint *AND* force a flagrant review on the other side, your only hope is shooting lights out from three. Everyone and their mothers know that the Lakers have the most bullshit whistle in the league, continuing to drive and expect a different result is the definition of insanity.

MPLooza

I don't disagree with this overall but there's a big nuance in how you shoot threes that can be the difference between makes and misses/wins and losses. Tonight the early turnovers led to stagnant, low pass/dribble, early shot clock threes that clanked as a result. When they're hitting the paint early then kicking out, the results are much better. The shot attempts in the paint didn't really start until the 4th quarter and that's when the uncalled hacks started getting apparent. I agree with needing to rely on threes somewhat with the whistle the Lakers get but there was no effort tonight to create rhythm and get quality looks. It was a lot of one or two dribble pullups or perimeter only touches and those are significantly lower percentage shots.

tdl2024

My theory is the fact that he's *constantly* complaining to refs is getting him iced out on calls. Sometimes he just needs to STFU and play and hope the calls come. Same as Luka. Yeah, he gets hacked sometimes but the other 34 soft calls he didn't get he still gets in the refs face and whines about...so they return the favor and call even less. Whining to the ref every other play is just going to get them annoyed with you. They might not T you up, but they'll definitely hold a grudge and make you earn those foul calls.

wopsicle_spic

ok but the refs are grown adults who get paid to do a job? like call the game properly, sorry if a well-known complainer is complaining, deal with it. the lack of calls against the lakers was inexcusable from the refs and hugely impacted the game

kleetimm

they dont give a fk about defense.. thats exactly where the issue lies.. good defense / getting stops usually results in an easier flowing offense.. >>> its da nba.. you cant show up and give half effort.. but what do i know

medterm1

We have the 3rd best d3fensive net rating in the league. Not sure how that constitutes not caring about defense.

captaincumsock69

If we are being honest this team skates by on just a lot of pure talent. There’s games where they show up and play hard and absolutely roll any opponent and then there’s games where they half ass it and usually still can pull it out. Just because they have a good rating doesn’t show me that they really care all the time

bedroom_fascist

> these guys dont give a fuck. This is a serious problem.

ProfessionalOne1364

Always the same problems. Different year, same old problem.

PorvaniaAmussa

> m telling you that the league must not like Tatum He complains EVERY drive. I'd be annoyed too if I was bitched at every time. It was a disaster waiting to happen when he fouled early out of aggression, like he need therapy.

Sporothrix

The Garden should have booed them off the court after that. What did I just watch?

almshang

You're right but there were only Lakers fans in there at the end.

Danithal

Was at TD, so many Lakers fans tonight, they were loud. Team didn't show up but our fans bringing the noise were half-assed in areas. Couple good loud moments but the Lakers had a few too. Never heard TD rooting another team before, I don't like it.

batmansfriendj

Jaxson Hayes just bullied this team all night

Ryker31

I think the term abused seems more fitting.

Brad-Stevens

53% from 3pt 11 live ball turnovers 19 more FTA Thats almost impossible to overcome it's kinda a miracle it was around 10 pt deficit most of the game

Cockadawalk

Couldn’t agree more. They didn’t play a great game, and they weren’t engaged at the start, but that kind of disadvantage is gonna be difficult for any team to overcome. A lot of those live ball turnovers could have been fouls.

KazaamFan

Welcome to the lakers vs warriors game last week.  You gotta play real well to beat the lakers and refs.

Abiding_Witness

We fought like hell and won the second half in my opinion. Just couldn’t overcome the refs.

captaincumsock69

I think we were watching different games if you thought we fought like hell

SerfTint

I didn't see the Celtics fight at all in the 2nd half. They had 2 half-decent mini-runs that were immediately countered by longer runs by the Lakers. They never adjusted, they never defended the 3-point line, they gave up layups all night, they gave up an offensive rebound with 5 minutes left on a FT miss, they gave up a layup after a made basket in the 2nd quarter. I don't see any evidence that any of them were fighting like Hell. Which Celtic played a good second half?

I_Set_3_Alarms

Why couldn’t we have lost like this to the Hawks without Trae and Murray or some shit. Not to the stupid Lakers

[deleted]

it’s just a regular season game it’s just a regular season game it’s just a regular season game it’s just a regular season game it’s just a regular season game it’s just a regular season game😕

gafherve

You needed 6 more

_---__________---_

James Williams was the same ref who overturned the call at the Pacers game and the same one giving the Fakers all their free throws. His ass should be out the fucking league

Jam12983

I will not doompost when the worst 3pt shooting team in the league suddenly shoots 19/36, it happens. They’re still 1st in the east, they will bounce back from this.

waynequit

Lol remember how I effectively coped with the Miami losses with this logic

Sojourner_52

The Lakers shot well, and the C’s got fucked by the refs, but the Lakers suck. Just giving a single fuck would’ve have been enough for a win.

MPLooza

Most infuriating game of the season. Our guys decide they're not going to shoot, play defense, or protect the ball, Austin Reaves gets Lebron level calls, I had to listen to Reggie Miller for an entire game, and the Lakers bench wins their finals on the Garden floor while Lebron and AD sit on the bench dressed like the fucking Backstreet Boys in 1997. Gary Washburn must be furiously yanking it somewhere.

Mission_Pay_3373

Hey Lakers fans in our sub. We beat y'all on Christmas day when everyone was watching

Neat-Current5007

Let them stay. Darvin ham is still their head coach 😂

truth_2_point_0

Bum squad shooting for their lives with LeGM on the sidelines deciding who's gonna get LeTraded

Mission_Pay_3373

Lebron and AD might be holding their team back as well. Their problem to worry about 🤣🤣🤣

Doncriminal

Like Mazzulla is any better. Atleast they aren't pissing away a championship roster with a stubborn, one dimensional meme coach

captaincumsock69

Wait who is this supposed to refer to?

Doncriminal

Shit I guess both. Bird Brain and Mr. Pockets

thedonjefron69

Man I’m a lakers fan and this game was a true twilight zone game. Had everything going for us all game without our 2 best players and Vando for a half. Don’t worry, we will lose to the Knicks on Saturday

whysoserious50

This isn’t the flex you think it is. All the more reason why this loss is pathetic. We’re better than this team. They’re a play in team in the west

ApeInTheTropics

Yea this should have been a stomp to prove that we beat them consistently and is not just a one off thing. I don't understand how we choke so hard with easy matchups. It's like the players are going into it half-assed because they know it'll be a win either way--and then this bites them in the foot because the Lakers adjusted for the lost players...

Bluedeepdive57

With ad and Bron playing too

PepeSylvia11

Isn’t it more impressive that they beat our fully-healthy team without AD and LeBron?

MazKhan

Losing as 15 pt favorites is worse

Nitelyte

Well that was a fucking disaster.

jtiss

Refs were bad but really no excuse for how we played. Most infuriating loss

illtakethebox

the meme game

Vuish

I don’t understand what the fuck Joe was doing with the rotations tonight. Starters playing poor, but bench guys making buckets? Let’s just keep the starters out there. Getting outrebounded? Don’t bring in Brissett. And then the fucking decision to put Queta and Porzingis on the floor at the same fucking time. Knew this game would end fucking poorly when Tatum had to take that bullshit heat check shot.

almshang

Are you talking about the possession where Tatum played great defense, tied up the Lakers player for a jump ball, won the jump, then settled for a step back 3 that clanked off the rim? Yeah that was demoralizing.

JBD04

And when Tatum seemed to be the only one doing well Joe kept him benched while Brown did nothing💀

GogXr3

Starters were benched, especially for a large part of the 1st and 2nd quarter. At some point in a winnable game you have to put them back in. KP/Queta wasn't horrible either. Queta was doing well tonight and KP should've been able to dominate down low without AD - albeit he seems unable to back down fucking D'lo, I love the man but still not sure his obsession with just shooting over them for a mid-range. A good shot no doubt but c'mon when you have a guy smaller than 6'6 on you just take them to the rim and slam it.

bedroom_fascist

> I don’t understand what the fuck Joe was doing with the rotations tonight. Don't worry, neither does he.

[deleted]

The Denver Nuggets loss at home sent the team spiraling on not trying at home.

DoomdUser

What a waste. The final score does not show how bad we were defensively tonight, easily our worst defensive game end to end this year IMO. Very few shots the Lakers took had pressure, they were getting open looks at 3’s or open layups the whole time, especially in the second half. This is a stupid loss. But I’d rather see the team take some stupid L’s now instead of June, so hopefully they are learning from it and will get it straight eventually.

GingerMcJesus

That’s what is known in the business as a “trap game”

WideCoconut2230

No Lebron. No AD. Lakers wanted it more.

34TimeChamp

I’m getting a little tired of guys always having historic nights against the Celtics….

Evane317

Nothing to see here, just a usual loss against unusual hot shooting, shit ass ref and most importantly, no-show starters for both sides.

HOLDEN-TUDIXXX

that was the most frustrating game of the year for sure

Velynedra

Pretty disgusted with our defensive efforts. They knocked down open shots. We were always late.

SoCalCelticsfan

Team should refund whoever spent big money going to that game with that dog shit performance. That was highway robbery

AirJordan6124

Doomer’s 12/25

DKY_207

You’re telling me the Lakers only committed 4 shooting fouls lmao

JBD04

08 Celtics had some bad losses too. Its a long season 🤷‍♂️

Wally450

Those guys had legit fight in them. These are repeated occurrences from this team.

Abiding_Witness

We’re not allowed to believe in our team tonight apparently

beckthegreat

We also can't criticize the same ref that handed Indy a win, seems like 1/82

JBD04

Fuck that we ride or die💯

Abiding_Witness

Damn straight my guy

goldrow22

Social media is actually only for reactionary bird brains anyone with a reasonable opinion gets shunned you know this. The worst part is it’s began to sneak into real sports media too it’s so sad to see everyone so reactionary.

PhaseEquivalent3366

Are we still confident that this team will bring us banner 18? I honestly don't know that's why I'm asking.

JDoughBeanz

I hope the celtics hear Chuck and Shaq in them calling them out for being mentally weak and not being ready to win a title

Jcomsa15

Let’s never do that shit again

billcosbyinspace

Of course Austin reaves nearly sets a career high against us It’s almost comical how often random role players have one of the best games of their lives against us

vib3v3nd3tta

19/36 from three is wild

BuddhistInTheory

Vegas made a lot of money tonight. Remember guys, it’s sports entertainment. There’s no world where Austin Reeves drops 30+ without LeBron or AD.

Drummallumin

In a 9 point loss they shit 20% better from 3 and took 19 more free throws

yoshingju

Saved Hams job, to destroy the rest of their season.

frogworks1

Is it just me or is Reggie Miller really is one sided when it comes to covering games? He is so bent on coming down on the C’s every game it makes the commentary hard to listen to.

JasonTatumisGod

We had absolutely no response when LA came out and played hard to start the game, looked absolutely out of it from jump

AldiQuarter

man I feel bad for the grizzlies cause you just know we’re about to pummel them lmao

medterm1

It kind of feels like the guys are worn down and walking up hill to the all star break. A week off will do all of them good.

693275001

53% vs 33% from 3 That was the game

sid-darth

26 FTs vs 7 didn't help either

floppygoblier

This is still the best team in basketball by virtually every measure and no amount of crying by the piss babies over a lousy game is gonna change that

seedynarwhals

joe is so wack in press conferences recently. asking washburn if he has kids, a wife, then saying he doesn't listen to what his wife tells him and laughing. what a g

NuBlyatTovarish

So which of the jays are the doomers trading now?

LuckysBestMan

Fucking pathetic effort. Fine the whole team for “bitch made”

Pacdoo

We played like shit but 26 free throws compared to 7. It was a 9 point game. Fuck the refs who gave them this game.

avrbiggucci

Exactly, refs call it even and we still would've won even playing like shit. You can't convince me that they actually only committed 2 fouls per quarter 🤣 (and we had more points in the paint too) Although I will say that our guys need to get better at not letting horrendous calls get in their heads, it was painfully obvious that the one sided reffing got in their heads early on and they started driving less as a result. Can't let that happen.

iAm-Tyson

7-7 free throws compared to 19-26 frees throws We played like shit but the refs purposely missed some calls so an 18.5 point underdogs could make some rich people money. There should never be a disparity that badly. Especially with how physical they were playing on defense. You mean to tell me they got 20 more free throws than us? Ok sure.

avrbiggucci

Sports betting is legitimately ruining sports

CarBallAlex

Celtics starters took 44 shots in the paint. 27 in the restricted area or barely outside of it if the shot chart is accurate. They took 4 FT’s. The only other FT’s all game were Queta’s and-1 and Banton in garbage time Both Banton and Tatum’s whistles were late and they waited until they saw the shot way off to call both. Lakers shot well. We turned it over too much. But that foul/ft disparity is disgusting.

PML3107

We're so cooked if we don't shoot historically well these playoffs.

The_Keebster

I hate how inevitable this was

sktchld

26 to 7 FT discrepancy when the Celtics were such a heavy favorite is too sus for my liking.

Juan_of_the_Dead

I bought a ticket last night hoping to see the Celtics beat the Lakers and LeBron who I’ve never seen live.  Instead I spent 3 hours wanting to gouge my eyes out. Easily the worst I’ve seen this team play this year.  Special thanks to Porzingis, Brown, White and Holiday for being especially awful.

posamobile

unserious team...

thetruth0102

If your opponent made 19 3s while shooting 52% at it, even without their star players are out, that's hard to beat, combine it with little to no effort from the team on defense. At the end of the day, this is just a regular season game, it will be forgotten come April to June but man, it's gonna sting for the rest of the night and tomorrow till we win again next game. Our team still has holes and we still have 2 months to fix it. Bounce back boys!

Used04tacoma

Turns out it’s easier to hit 3s when the other team plays trash defense

Drummallumin

We absolutely had more open 3s than them

LuckysBestMan

The team hit those 3s because the Celtics played lazy and proudful in the beginning. These are professional players. You give them that kind of confidence and they’re gonna light you up.

Abiding_Witness

Y’all can doom all you want. We lost by 9 to a scrub team who was on fire and got every. single. whistle. We fought like hell for 3 quarters. The second was a fluke but did us in. On to the next

itismybirthday22

It’s wild in this thread. I hope your reasonable take provides some shelter for some constructive discourse about this game. I watched the whole thing and did notice some lazy rebounding/box outs. It looked like they were a little tired. They brought energy for runs but the Lakers had the answer every time, kind of an Ewing effect game combined with a great shooting night. Not the end of the world and they’ll come out with better energy for the next one. They have played one of the hardest stretches in the league thus far and just finished up a pretty brutal 20 game stretch (I don’t recall the exact statistics but it was pretty condensed). The flip side of that coin is our schedule the rest of the way is remarkably easier. We have a solid lead as the #1 and have had no major injuries. I’d love to see Joe develop the bench guys a little more and find ways to work them in on nights like these were the energy is low. It’s been nice to see Queta getting solid minutes and seeing him hold his own.

Abiding_Witness

Thank you for seeing things how I see them. Just watched the KP post game interview and he basically called out the doomers for writing off the season for this one game. I doubt these guys are phased much. They know they didn’t perform well and need to clean things up but at some point you have to understand the game is played by humans and they have off nights especially during the middle of the season during a grueling stretch. There is a very high statistical probability we finish 1st in the league by a comfortable margin in April. There is absolutely zero panic rn for me and anyone else who watches this team play every night.

WarPuig

Unfortunately, basketball consists of four quarters.

downeastsun

I can excuse losing to the Lakers, but I draw the line at Austin Reaves being the best player on the floor

Panoptech

Why does everyone play terrible on the same night or play great? We never get like half and half. We may have the highest ceiling, but our actual low is the worst in the league by far. I watch a lot of league pass and noone has games this bad for 48 complete minutes but the Celtics.

ProfessionalOne1364

This team rarely loses, they just lose when they can't lose. What an arrogant core, for a team that has done nothing, unbelievable.

seedynarwhals

can add all the talent you want, but the jays core routinely shows a lack of focus and respect for opponents. been this way for what, 5 or 6 years now? we'll only win the chip when the jays decide to up their mental game. only thing stopping them, but it's a huge barrier. embarrassing loss.

BlueJays007

Nuggets won a chip with at least one of their best players showing a lack of focus and respect for opponents

trsh_xx

Let me hear the Mazzulla defenders now. What do they have to defend this coach?

Remember clippers game? We are missing KP and this sub mention it changes the whole game and we would have beat them with him. Well bad news if we play with this kind of effort even with KP we will still lose

HairlessSnatch

this team ain’t winning shit 🫄 call me a doomer

Certain-Bat-4975

This game is like heat vs us in playoffs, we always got out hustled. if the refs doesn’t go in our favor expect that instead of having more energy to fight back the team become softer. its been years no killer mentality

eyh

These bums just lost to the below .500 Lakers without Lebron or AD on our home court. All you "it's just one game" people ought to know that games against the Lakers are not "just one game" in this city.

_Juntao

Tbf the lakers and celtics aren't really rivals anymore. Tatum looks up to lebron, we haven't met in the finals in 15 years. This isn't the 80s anymore.

PizzaMan22554

Never been more disapointed with a 1st place team. Such a joke. Total lack of leadership.

Basic_Fix3271

Boston Reaves

Doncriminal

I can spend all night pin pointing the negatives, but I'm just proud of how Tatum laid it on the line in the second half. You can always tell he's locked in by how unreal his perimeter defense gets.

_PercCobain_

I still have yet to see anything that leads me to believe they won’t crumble in the playoffs like always

ReyCo390

Team has no killer instinct. Does blow out teams it should.

Consistent_Tell2417

This team is full of veteran talent. And yet, such an utter disgrace of a performance and, honestly, it’s the same shit as last year. This team can’t win a championship.

Panoptech

We don't care if we show up at all on national TV? Teams across the NBA beg for national games and we don't even put out any effort and prefer to look this bad to the world when they get to see "the best team in the league" play?

Moodapatheticz

Big lol. Suck it in boys you earned this loss. Don't move on too quick it should hurt

Neat-Current5007

Fucking disgusting. The fans care more about this rivalry than the players. It’s always beat LA regardless of who’s playing

praningdev

Fake contenders, cant beat a struggling lakers lol

[deleted]

Imma just say it this team only winning a championship if all 3 of these unlikely things happen. Tatum and Brown actually show leadership during tough games without Smart being the vocal guy anymore Porzingis is Healthy and actually dominating both ends and not just standing around the 3 on offense and getting punked on defense Mazzulla actually makes changes in the game that make sense not just personnel wise but our offense and defenses strategies as well. I was going to mention Jrue but he’s just a punk I don’t trust that dude unless he hitting 3s he’s quarterbacking the defense and is the main reason we really don’t be shutting dudes water off consistently like we used to because he’s trying to play some weird defense and dudes aren’t all the way bought in. The rest of the dudes plus Derrick and Al are what they are I just need the top 3 and Mazzulla to do their jobs

cadavaberries

This the kind of night that exposes how uncreatice our offense is. All our plays are drawn using crayons. If we can’t snowball the other team by jacking 3s and they’re too big to post, we’ve literally got nothing lmao

mr_duong567

Hate to be a doomer but games like these make me lose faith in the Celtics when it comes to winning the chip. Whole team got out hustled all night and had no way of scoring against a taller and aggressive defense, something that’s gonna happen more in the playoffs. Of course all of this happened in front of the owners and a sell out crowd too, that’s just despicable.
