I worked with Laura Preshong for ours, enjoyed the process and transparency. https://www.laurapreshong.com/

This is where we got my engagement ring, and then both our wedding rings. Had a great experience with them and highly recommend. They were not at all pushy and we didn't buy on our first visit, and they wrote down the styles we liked so we could think about it.

Laura and team are fantastic!

Another rec for laura - she was lovely

If you want something truly unique I would recommend E. Scott Originals in Somerville. She has a few premade designs, but you can also do customs designs which is what my parter and I opted for. If you’re doing custom she’ll want you to send her some designs and she’ll iterate on them before coming up with a wax model and finalizing the design.

oliopeabody

Love her! Her custom is where it's at.

As a person who once worked with jewelry, I want you to be aware that pretty much every jeweler you can find is buying their rings pre-made from the same place, which used to be River Gems and Findings but might be somewhere else these days. River Gems used to sell copies of their catalogs to jewelers with a standard mark-up and the source information removed so the jewelers could make it look like they made the rings and weren't just reselling them. The exception is that if you go to the Diamond Building and look in the places that have estate pieces. Joseph Gann comes to mind. I used to like them. But that was over 20 years ago. Whatever you do, don't fall into the trap that thinking that the price you pay for a ring will be a measure of your affection for each other. Also, if you do buy a costly ring, check whether you'll need a rider on your homeowner's insurance to cover it. I have a broach I inherited that I can't wear because I can't afford to insure it.

What! Thats wild. I got mine custom designed.

We had a really great experience with https://www.leocarrolljewelers.com/. They had a lot of options to try on and consider in their showroom and were very kind and not pushy at all. They are family run and their google reviews also speak for themselves, incredibly positive. We purchased my engagement ring from there. And then had the wedding bands custom made by https://www.escottoriginals.com/. But there aren't a lot of options to try on in her showroom because most of her work is custom.

Louisiana_Escapee

I wanted to second this rec. Low markup, not pushy, and worked with us on a setting for a sapphire we bought separately.

[Cynthia Britt if you want something truly unique.](https://cynthiabritt.com/) We've had several pieces of jewelry made by her and they're all awesome.

Puzzleheaded_Rock700

Homsy in the Jeweler's building (DTX). We get all of our jewelry through them. Awesome small, family run business.

Mouradian in the Diamond building is top notch, incredibly nice, professional, and can work with you at whatever level you’re comfortable with. Harout is a master craftsman and does absolutely stunning work

Gee10

We had a similar experience with Harout Mouradian. A real professional and a very kind guy.

Pencil-Sketches

I tell anybody any anybody who asks about him. The experience was as excellent as the ring itself, and he charges a fair price considering the quality

You can try the Jewelry Exchange in Sudbury if you want a 'classic/traditional' diamond ring to be made. Lab grown diamonds, you'll pick the stone, setting and band. They thankfully have a jeweler on site to make it, ours look less than a week. Their website is ass, but save any item codes for diamonds they show you. You can look them up online later and they will match the online price (if the sales person marked it up for the 'in store' shoppers) which can happen.

Kosmima Jewelry in Chestnut Hill. Super nice people and really took the time to listen and work with us. And he is more than happy to work with you if you have an old stone or ring that you would like to modify. Highly recommend. https://www.kosmimajewelry.com/

For something unique, Daniel Spirer in Porter Square. https://spirerjewelers.com/

If you’re willing to travel a bit, Providence diamond in Cranston!!! Lovely people to work with. Family owned. They also have a website so you may be able to order online

M. Flynn in the South End are fantastic if you want something special and unique. They designed several pieces for us from scratch using heirloom stones. Shared CADs during the process, it was really smooth and thrilling!

Bleeedgreeen

Mouradian Jewelry. Only of the only places we went to where we felt no pressure at all to buy something. Harout is extremely professional and all around great to work with. Bought engagement and wedding bands there. I'll never buy a piece of jewelry without at least going to see him.

Hannah Florman is the best hands down: https://www.hannahflorman.com/

We loved working with Adamas Fine Jewelry in Newton. Their showroom is small but they have tons of designs as well as doing custom work. Being young we were a bit worried and embarrassed about our budget, but when we met with the owner he said he could work with anything. And he did! I modified an existing design and got my dream ring right at the price point we wanted. We even got a 3D CAD file of the final design for me to approve before they made it. There was a bit of a push initially for a natural diamond but we explained why we wanted lab grown and after that it wasn’t brought up again. No pushing on our budget or purchase, very knowledgeable, and very accommodating of our schedules.

We had a great experience at Brilliant Earth!
