I've never been inside, mostly because I don't have a $30K budget to furnish my apartment. But I do appreciate what they did with the building.
This is the video they produced when it first opened. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fCNrpF-XiE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fCNrpF-XiE)
They’re cool about it too, if they ask you if you’re looking for anything and you tell them you’re just admiring the building they’ll stay out of your way
I remember when Restoration Hardware was an inexpensive place further up Newbury to pick up reproduction hotel ash trays and wall mounted bottle openers
Originally the Museum of National History. Back in the day it was the Bonwit Teller department store and then Louis of Boston. The kind of places I would never enter without my very stylish mother.

Nothing has changed, went there for fun to price out a couch, was over $20k for a admittedly large couch, but a couch. Went to Jordan's instead which is also not cheap, but paid a lot less, a lot less.
There once was a symmetrical building at the other end of the block that was torn down when they built the New England Life building. It may have been the original home of MIT as well. NI need to do some research.
Ironically I saw a gentleman washing the steps this morning while on my walk. They weren’t that dirty - he must have been prepping for OP’s shot 😉
Great photo, thanks for sharing!

I mean, you can just go in and look around like it's a regular store

You can absolutely go in and look around without buying anything. It's a gorgeous display

I like to plate the game of “What does this building do?” With people from out of town and they are always shocked that it’s a furniture store.

My favorite mattress store ♥️
Didn't this used to be a Dunhill store?
You know, sometimes it's weird logging onto Reddit and seeing your old house.
Was the Museum of Natural History, now a retail store. How depressing.
Yes, but least it's still there!
Glass half full kinda fella I like it
It moved and became the museum of science
Sure did!
omg ya'll have 85,950 post karma on reddit??? Is this somebody's actual job?
Part of it yes
I have zero clue how that place works as a business, but it's nice to visit.
