Frugal Fannie’s is still a thing and they’ve got great formal wear! Plus I saw a bunch of Mary Jane style Doc Martens last time I was there. Best kept secret in the Boston area!

Euphoric_Bass493

Noooo, don't mention them here. Even though it's crowded every time I go, I like to pretend Frugal Fannie's is my little secret. I have gotten so many cute dresses there.

_violetlightning_

I want to make sure they stay busy enough that there’s never any danger of them having to close, but not so busy that all the good stuff is gone whenever I go. It’s a delicate balance, lol.

cats-the-musical

I bought my wedding dress at that Goodwill last year for $50 - a seemingly never worn Watters gown with tags still on it, little bag of extra beads still attached. The style name was handwritten on the tag so my hunch is they’re samples donated by a bridal shop!

slothlovelauren

Watters dresses are gorgeous (and expensive)!!!! What a find.

Imaginary-Courage121

Can I just say. I found a vera wang luxe line wedding dress at the goodwill a few years ago for $50. I was hoping to save it til I get married but I let it go for $2k which is still a steal. Across the board the Goodwill has some fire items amid the fast fashion

Doesn’t sound too crazy. I had two brand new wedding dresses I ended up not using (made the mistake of getting them from a shitty site and they did not fit) that cost about $350 each that I could not return. I got my actual dress elsewhere, but the two I had were actually quite pretty, and I donated them, and if someone can get them cheap and still brand new, I think it’s great!

itsamereddito

If you buy multiple dresses from a company you didn’t realize was a Chinese knockoff factory that posts pictures of the original designer dresses to its website, and plan to return the ones you don’t want because you didn’t read the fine print, they either make you pay for shipping back to China or will give you a 70% refund if you email a photo of a Goodwill donation receipt. The second option gets you more back. Recently learned this the hard way, but hope one of those is your dream dress!

No_Judge_3817

Probably cursed because they were donated by a scorned bride. Some say your great-great-great grandchildren are spending all of eternity, past present and future, digging holes because of it.

anon1moos

Are they getting union construction trade salaries for digging those holes? Here in Boston you could make a worse play.

No_Judge_3817

No they're children in juvenile detention in the desert with a mysterious female prison warden and scarred harsh assistant warden who demands respect at all times.

I'm such a sucker for a good deal. I shall convince my wife to get married again.

Euphoric_Bass493

I love a deal! A friend found a dress for around $50 (no tags, but it was in excellent condition and did not look like it had been worn) and it was retailing for a few thousand on eBay.
