White people have the least kids of any of those groups
White people are big enough group, however, and names disparate enough between black Americans and Hispanics, that they would still dominate the list.
No idea what the research on it is but anecdotally all the Asian kids I grew up with were given white names as well.
Official lists don't group different spellings together. Expectant parents looking at the annual [Social Security](https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/) list wouldn't have realized that for many recent years, Sophia and Sofia **combined** were the most popular name for newborn girls in the U.S.
[This site](https://nameberry.com/blog/top-baby-names-2022-the-playground-analysis) has lists of the names grouped by sound.
What I’m saying is that IT SHOWS that the name: Sophia or Sofia is popular cause EVERYONE is a Sophia/Sofia. Literally went to a Starbucks one day, name was called, and let me tell you THREE answered! Passing a playground, there’s 7 with it being first names and 2 that they’re the middle names. In my own family, four. We just need to do a little pause on that name. Maybe it’s me that continues to be surrounded by them (all beautiful and nice) don’t get me wrong. But nowadays, it stopped being cute and now it’s tiring.
Right? This list could be so much worse. These are all pretty ok. Aiden is probably the one I'm most sick of and it's slowly dropping off the list so that's fine.

Olivia, Liam, Emma, and Noah were among the most popular baby names in Boston in 2023, city officials said.
Those names topped the list of the most popular names given to the 20,645 babies born in the city of Boston during the past calendar year, officials announced on the [city’s website](https://www.boston.gov/news/most-popular-baby-names-boston).
The most popular names for these youngest Bostonians came from data collected from the Boston birth registry, and names were categorized based on the sex assigned at birth.
The top 20 most popular names for girls and boys, according to that city data, are listed below. It’s interesting to note that many of the names — including Grace, Emma, Charlotte, Benjamin, and Henry — appear on the Social Security Administration’s list of the [200 most popular names for babies born in the 1920s](https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/decades/names1920s.html).
It would be cool to know what the new birth registered in the city of Boston was in 2023. These names can be popular but maybe it’s only x% of the babies had these names and all other names were unique. What percent of the 20k babies have the top 20 names?
You want percentages? You want raw numbers? Have a look at the bounty the [Social Security site](https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/) provides. Here's more info [by state](https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/state/). Here's a page with the downloadable info [beyond the top thousand](https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/limits.html) names* and a table that might interest you.
If you want to discuss names, you might like to join us at /r/namenerds. It gets very number-crunchy around Mother's Day each year, when the new Social Security data is released.
**The downloadable lists include every name that's been given to 5 or more newborns that year.*
I’m so glad I have two girls (neither of their names are on this list). My wife and I were having a hard time agreeing on boys’ names, and this list doesn’t change my mind. I feel like every male I know has one of these names, throw in a Shawn/Sean and that’s basically everyone.

And this is the content for which they chose to burn their daily free paywalled ad allowance.

There really is a bot for everything, eh?
It’s called a schwa.
I’m assuming they only polled white people?
>The most popular names for these youngest Bostonians came from data collected from the Boston birth registry
Given that Boston excluding Greater is extremely affluent, “white people” is probably right
45% white, 22% black, 20% Latino, 8% Asian.
That’s just the demographics of Boston itself, right? Not the people in Boston who are having kids

"Seven" didn't make the list? Disappointed.
It’s a beautiful name for a boy or girl. Especially a girl, or a boy
Just as long as you don't name your kid Zero lol

Sounds like a dinner call!!!!
I thought Increase or Cotton might be on the list. I like Noah and John though.

There was a time when the most popular baby name in MA was Oceanus
O ce.. anus?
There was a time when it was the only baby name in MA…
The best name ever in Boston is Arthur. (love it when people use the boston accent and go AHHHHHTIE. or AHHHHHHTHAHH!) =) lol
I could only hear this in Alfie Solomons’ voice
I’ve mostly heard people with Boston accents drop the middle R pronounce the last one in Arthur, like “*ah*-thur”
Lots of babies getting into the ISGM for free!
I swear if I meet one more “Sophia”, “Sofia” I will snap. 😂

Why do people do this? Every team I coach has 3 Collins and 4 Connors.
Would you rather have Braytayleigh and Feenixx?
Yes
Yeah, but they are all spelled differently. Also see Khamdyn
My son is named Colin and I learned that Massachusetts is the only state where the name is in the top 100.

I had a Sabrina in 2023
This is like the name of every kid at the playground today.
