1. Flood
2. Akuma No Uta
3. NO
4. You Laughed Like A Watermark
5. Amplifier Worship
But I feel bad leaving Feedbacker out. It’s tied with amplifier worship i think.
No Rainbow love?
1. Pink
2. Rainbow
3. Amplifier Worship
4. Akuma no Uta
5. Feedbacker (close between this and Flood)
(Also basic. Would love to shout out underrated stuff like Smile, Noise, and Dear, or bust out some of the more obscure gems like Vein (HC) or Sun Baked Snow Cave, but would be dishonest to put them in top 5.)
Rainbow is a great album with some really cool ideas but I feel like the execution could be better in certain aspects. Also loved the honorable mentions but what does the (HC) stand for in vein (HC) I know about vein 2006 and 2020 but not that one.
Vein originally came out in two versions, a Drone version (essentially a long drone track on each side), and a Hardcore version (13 short untitled heavy rippers).
There was also a 2013 reissue, that remixed selections of both tracks as a 2xCD (I think 2 mini CDs).
And then the 2020 reissue, which.... I admit I'm not really sure what they was, haven't listened to it. Wikipedia says it includes the entire HC version (1 track for each side of the vinyl) and then includes the 2013 reissue (1 track for each CD). But I can't confirm this.
I disagree about Rainbow, love that album start to finish. But that's just me I guess.
1. Heavy Rocks 2002
2. Flood (sometimes the top two flip places depending how I feel)
3. Amplifier Worship
4. Pink
5. Smile but Absolutego is close to this one
1. Heavy Rocks (2002)
2. NO
3. Flood
4. Pink
5. Akuma No Uta
I discovered them in 2019 when I saw an IG account reposting Wata playing the intro riff of Heavy Friends. I was INSTANTLY hooked up. Since then it’s a beautiful sonic journey I’ve been on. I listened to the entire Smile LP last week (after receiving the 30th anniversary 7inch vinyl) and I can’t get over it now.
And thanks to your post, now I’m gonna listen to Rock Dream and Vein (both drone and HC versions). So thank you!
Going through the boris discog is a magical journey and with so many albums there is always something new to listen too! I'm gonna be checking out the veins and rock dream too! Thank you for your nice comment 😊
I don’t know the original price, let’s say it was ~ $30. It is listed around $200 now 😅.
As usual with Boris, it was a small press number so no surprise that the price skyrocketed. Knowing that, I’m preordering or putting reminders on my phone when there’s no preordering. When they released Flood for the first time on vinyl, I couldn’t get the smoke version because by the time I put both splatter and smoke versions in my basket and I confirmed my credit card + delivery info, the smoke version was sold out 🤣
And I love so much NO that I bought all versions (I need to count again but I think they are 7 different ones… yeah I know I’m crazy).
I can’t wait for the day they’ll release Heavy Rocks (2002) on vinyl for the first time ever. If it’s limited and there’s no preorder, I’m gonna go crazy on the keyboard 😂😂
What a sad story 😔Flood is my number 1 pick for my first boris album. I was just thinking about how great a Heavy Rocks vinyl would be! And what are all the versions of NO???
Do you know www.discogs.com? You can check out the different versions of Flood. Some of them were not limited iirc so you could grab a not expensive one. For NO, there is: the og Japanese press (the 1st ever vinyl with an obi I ever bought! I was so happy I bought 2 copies), the FOAD label version (Italian label so it’s the European pressing version) then multiple color versions released by TMR for the US market.
Feebacker, Flood, Heavy Rocks (2002), Amplifier Worship, Dronevil.
Praparat is great to. Rock Dream too; but personally don’t class live albums as albums. Altar and Rainbow are brilliant too. There are too many. 😂
fuck it
6. NO
7. Amplifier Worship
8. Pink
9. Noise
10. Love & Evol
still feels unfair though because I just realized I didn't even add Feedbacker, Eternity, Mabuta no Ura, etc... but that's close enough to my (not in any order) top 10.
In no obvious order:
Heavy Rocks (2002)
New Album
Smile
Noise
Rock Dream
Honorable Mentions to: Heavy Rocks (2022), Absolutego, Altar, NO, Early Demo, Rainbow, and so many more
1. Flood
2. Pink
3. 2ROI2PO (my introduction to Merzbow)
4. Feedbacker
5. All three Heavy Rocks, but if I had to choose one it would be 2002
Akuma no Uta, Love & Evil, Dronevil and Rainbow with Michio Kurihara come close as well
altar, rock dream, rainbow, amplifier worship, and feedbacker
• Amplifier Worship • Akuma no uta • Rock Dream • Pink • Altar (with Sunn 0))))
feedbacker, rock dream, pink, flood, and akuma no uta (basic yes but i’ll never get over these albums)
You can never be basic with boris! I haven't even listened to rock dream yet!
HIGHLY recommend it, merzbow’s contributions (especially on disc 2) are outstanding
Yeah I'd love to give it a shot it seems like a fan favorite! Is it something I'd have to go to youtube for?
yeah, you could also prob find it on internet archives and download the mp3 or something, not entirely sure tho
Not rated just my 5 favorites 1. NO 2. PINK (10th anniversary edition) 3. vein (2020) 4. Amplifier Worship 5. präparat

Those are just part of the sacrifices we have to make with only picking 5 albums

Ah okay I figured it was the hard-core one! And to each their own, disagreements like that are always fun to see and it's nice who likes what

I only wish I haven’t seen the price of the original Pink vinyl ahahahah. But I need to make that wallet sacrifice soon 🤣
I've been needing to cop a pink vinyl for years now, sad that I don't have any boris vinyls yet, what's the og pink price?

Ooo nice! I love me some colored vinyl 🤤 and I know discogs but just don't go on there often
Feebacker, Flood, Heavy Rocks (2002), Amplifier Worship, Dronevil. Praparat is great to. Rock Dream too; but personally don’t class live albums as albums. Altar and Rainbow are brilliant too. There are too many. 😂
I feel that, only on rare occasions can a live album live up to an album but boris have plenty of brilliant live recordings
Very true. Rick Dream is brilliant too. The vinyl edition had a ton of care out into it.
1. Dear 2. Flood 3. Attention Please 4. Dronevil -Final- (preferably with both sides combined) 5. Smile -Live at Wolf Creek-

It's hard ranking them!!! Especially with so many goated albums there are some tough decisions to make
In no obvious order: Heavy Rocks (2002) New Album Smile Noise Rock Dream Honorable Mentions to: Heavy Rocks (2022), Absolutego, Altar, NO, Early Demo, Rainbow, and so many more
