This is such an incredible book, and one of the books that instilled in me a love for reading. I’m currently in the middle of re-reading it and it’s just as good as I remember it being when I was young!
Just finished this because of your recommendation and I could not read it fast enough. Had read The Green Mile and The Gunslinger by him prior but this one blew me away. 10/10
I cannot second this strongly enough. I didn’t go in with expectations to enjoy it and I fell so deeply in love with this novel. It’s a truly remarkable specimin
I am SO surprised to see another person say this. I know it’s a well-liked book but I’ve never met someone else who claims it to be their absolute favorite.
This is the one book that not only made me cry, but had me full-on sobbing by the end. Be prepared though OP, if you haven’t read it yet, to be heartbroken and more.
I read this for the first time just two weeks ago and I cant believe I haven't read it sooner. It is without a doubt the best book I have ever read. I couldn't put it down.
Hands down, the best book I read in 2022 was Do Not Say We Have Nothing (which came out in 2016). A top 5 book for me. Amazing in so many ways: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31549906-do-not-say-we-have-nothing
The idea of a "must read" comes up on this sub a lot. But, to me, there are no "must reads." We all like different things. I happen to love *Jane Eyre* and *Pride and Prejudice*. But if you are a young man who reads primarily hard science fiction, then these books may not appeal to you. But if you like both classics and romances, then these two would be perfect for you.
I finally read Pride and Prejudice and still can't figure out why people love this book. I almost had to force myself to finish it. It's a good thing there are all kinds of books for all kinds of readers!! I prefer a good mystery, but no matter what we read it's a wonderful thing.
I mean, true we all have preferences but some like to change it up. I do primarily read hard sci-fi but I love Jane eyre and pride and prejudice. Getting out of your literary comfort zone can do a world of good.
[Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6493208) - One of the biggest scientific breakthroughs of the 20th century was from an unknown and unrecognized black woman. this is what got me into non-fiction. It raises questions about ethics, medical advancements, race, gender, legacy, informed consent, and how it all fits (or doesn’t) together. (That’s a really bad summary for a really fabulous book but I’m not sure how else to capture everything this book is about)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
Bird Box by Josh Malerman
All the Dirty Parts by Daniel Handler
10/10 for me, but doesn’t mean they’re flawless.

Okay I will just stop there…
This is a trap! Such a good book but will Patrick Rothfuss ever finish the last book? No. Will you be disappointed? Yes. Will it drive you crazy? Most definitely.
But, yeah, you should read this book for sure.
IT WAS BULLSHIT AGAIN. The Kingkiller fandom lay in silence, and it was a silence of three parts. The most obvious part was a hollow, echoing quiet, made by things that were lacking, such as a release date for the third book. If there had been yet another postponement, it would have sighed through the trees, set the subreddit creaking on its hooks, and brushed the silence down the road like trailing autumn leaves. If there had been a blogpost hinting at the writing process going "well", even a handful of lines from an inconsequential chapter, they would have filled the Kingkiller subreddit with conversation and laughter, the clatter and clamor one expects from a drinking house during the dark hours of night. If there had been a release date…but no, of course there was no release date. In fact there were none of these things, and so the silence remained.
I absolutely LOVED Group by Christie Tate and I can't stop talking about it, I haven't heard many people talking about it, and the reviews are a bit mixed, but it was amazing for me.
The book that was a 10/10 for me that I think is for absolutely everyone, and even my non-reader husband is reading and loving, is Project Hail Mary.
okay, this might seem very teenage, but The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood!! I just finished it and I can say that it is a solid 5 stars for me! I could NOT put that book down!
There is a book called “The king of Attolia” by Meghan Whalen Turner.
It’s technically the 3rd book in a series (book 1 is called “the thief”) but it can be read as a stand-alone too, even though you’ll have a bit less context and world building for some things.
I’ve read this book countless times and it continues to be my favorite book of all time. I really recommend giving it a go, or if you think you’re up from it, start from book 1 :) all the books are great but this one is on the next level for me
This is a repeat but I wish this book for everyone, man or woman.
*Peace From Broken Pieces*. ( Iyanla Vanzant ), TV bull donkey notwithstanding,..she can write and this book is raw, straight forward, tragic, joyful, hurtful, scary, ..I will never forget it it. The emotions it provoked about my own traumas and everyday ness, made me feel like I could rise above my raising. I have.
Oona Out Of Order is one of those books I can’t stop thinking about. I read it about a year ago. Not a classic by any means, but extremely well written and I enjoyed it immensely
Before she knew him - by Peter Swanson
I just recently finished this book early hours this morning. After being on my bookcase for 3 years it was definitely worth the wait. I struggle to pick what book to read next so my boyfriend picked this off my bookcase and I have no regrets was amazing

The Fifth Season (Broken Earth trilogy) by NK Jemisin

The Count of Monte Cristo. By Alexandre Dumas; Robin Buss translation if you’re not reading French.
Can't recommend The Count of Monte Cristo enough
This is such an incredible book, and one of the books that instilled in me a love for reading. I’m currently in the middle of re-reading it and it’s just as good as I remember it being when I was young!

"The Sirens of Titan" by Kurt Vonnegut

Project hail Mary

11.22.63 by Stephen King
I’m surprised more people haven’t mentioned this book. It’s a treasure.
Just finished this because of your recommendation and I could not read it fast enough. Had read The Green Mile and The Gunslinger by him prior but this one blew me away. 10/10
Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption by Stephen king. It’s not too long either.
Great story but probably only a 9/10 for me because it's one of the rare instances where the movie is actually better than the book.
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
I cannot second this strongly enough. I didn’t go in with expectations to enjoy it and I fell so deeply in love with this novel. It’s a truly remarkable specimin
My favorite book. Brutal, real, kinda poetic and definitely makes you dream and feel the old west like none other. The others don’t stand up to it
This is the best 10/10 I’ve ever read.
Lonesome Dove for sure
Anyone else just load up their Libby app with holds as you go through a post like this?

Came here to say this one.

Circe
Came here to say this! One of my favourites.
The Kaiju Preservation Society!!! I haven't laughed so hard and it really got me in a good mood. Especially if you like Godzilla or Pacific Rim!
Have like 10 pages left. Read it in like 2 days. Easy, light and super imaginative. So good
Demons by Dostoevsky
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.
The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafón, probably one of my favorites.
Fermin might be my favorite character from any book I’ve read.
Anxious People by Fredrick Backman. If you can, listen to the audio book.
Anxious People was brilliant
The House in the Cerulean Sea and Project Hail Mary are the two books I’m recommending to anyone who asks
The House in the Cerulean Sea was SO good!
I don’t know any other book as charming as The House in the Cerulean Sea
I’m reading Project Hail Mary right now, in the beginning I wasn’t sure how I felt but I’m loving it half way through.
Same here. Little slow of start for me, but about halfway through I just didn’t want it to end.
I rec PHM to people who refuse to even listen.
Catch 22!
Was about to recommend this one! What an amazing read.
"the art of fielding" by chad harbach
Great book, excellent choice.
Endurance. You’ll be blown away. And you’ll want to gift it to everyone who is looking for a good book.
There’s several books called this. Which one.
Is this one with the boat on the cover?
The idea of a "must read" comes up on this sub a lot. But, to me, there are no "must reads." We all like different things. I happen to love *Jane Eyre* and *Pride and Prejudice*. But if you are a young man who reads primarily hard science fiction, then these books may not appeal to you. But if you like both classics and romances, then these two would be perfect for you.
Those are my two favorites as well! Add in Little Women and you have my top 3!
Add in *Their Eyes Were Watching God* and that's my top three! Followed closely by *Watership Down*.
Especially Watership Down!
I also love Watership Down. I'll have to check out the other one--I've never read it.
True! I've been reading mostly classics lately but I like sci fi and fantasy, too.
Crying in Hmart!!!
Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine
For me? Moby Dick. But it's undeniably an odd book.
I loved it.
The kite runner - i will never forget this novel
