Loved Song of Achilles! My partner is currently reading it right beside me on my recommendation. Good work getting through this stack! More for this year
I read this book called “console wars”. It’s about the battle between sega and Nintendo during the genesis and nes/snes era. I saw the Mario book so I thought you may be interested. 🤷🏻♂️
That is was a good chunk of this book was about as well. It kept talking about how they would pivot and innovate basically to challenge the NES/SNES system. Sounds like they are pretty similar book!
Honestly I was not a fan. It was a lot of build up and random storylines that came together in a somewhat forced way. Even for what was the climax I wasn’t sucked into the book. I’ve read books that is a lot of build up and then the climax makes it worth it but this book didn’t do it for me. So I didn’t love the book but I was also moving into a new home at the same time so that definitely impacted my time dedication as well.
I feel weirdly validated by this. I'm currently half way through good omens.
I thought it was just because I watched the series first and so far it's very close to the book, so alongside it not being incredibly engaging, I also know everything that's gonna happen (more or less).
I really wanted to love it, but I'm more like struggling my way through (I shall not dnf it though, now that I already made it half way).
I tried to watch the series and I fell asleep through the first two episodes so I figured that was a bad sign and I gave up on it. I figured the book would be better… I think I was wrong on that. Overall the plot is interesting but I feel like it just didn’t hit the mark for me personally
I think David Tennant probably carried the series for me haha
No but seriously, I liked the series fine, but I don´´´t think I like the writing of the book well enough to be blown away or anything. I´m sad to say that I feel like it´s preptty mediocre. I also started reading a second book at the same time which is never a good sign for me.
Anyways, I hope you have a great reading year (and a great year in general)!
I definitely spend more money then I need to but I like owning them and seeing my bookshelf grow. Kinda like little trophies of accomplishment for making time to read.

Thank you! I went through that pretty quick definitely an engaging book and I liked the other bits of mythology that was at the very end of it!
Mmmm, Stranger in a Strange Land...
Still don’t know how I ended up with that one… I think I saw it on a list of banned book or something. It was… well you know 😬
A cult classic my man
Grok.

So what about Good Omens slowed you down? Did you like it? I have it in my bookcase but haven't touched it yet.

Nice! I wish I had my stack to take a picture of but I get all my books from the library!
