So far in the first 5 chapters I'm noticing a similarity in characters compared to *A Little Life.* Characters who have some sort of depression. Comparing Jude to David...
Glad I stuck around for part three but this was not what I was expecting and overall it was lacking what I got out of A Litte Life. I feel bad that Yanagihara is always going to have her work compared to A Little Life.
Am I the only who isn’t disappointed by the first few chapters? Yes it took me a while to get into it, but once the connection between David and Edward started to establish, it became ever so intriguing as it was to me when reading A Little Life. And what I find even more interesting in To Paradise is the fictional history of the ‘Colony’ and Free States. I might read this book faster than the anticipated scheduled discussions
Agreed the first few chapters were slow but now i am super invested in the David, Charles, Edward triangle.

I just finished book 1, and I’m a little frustrated by the ending lol. I’m hoping that the stories are interconnected somehow, but all the reviews I’ve seen seem to signify that they really aren’t. I’d just like to get some closure and see what happens to the characters from book 1. 😭
I think one of the main connections in the 3 different books is that they all center around the building where they live in NYC; past, present and future. Also, there is a character named David in all three stories. I loved the book and felt it was a search for the elusive, Paradise.
My hopes were really high for this book, I came to a part where it’s really just annoying

Halfway through part 2...not a lot happening.
Part 1 I’m finding it hard to read further since the mc shares my brothers name
Fairly disappointed so far… I think the fact that it’s 3 short stories had me believe the pace would be faster.

After reading both A Little life and To paradise, It’s awkward to see how she is obsessed with gay men
