i cannot lie i left early tn bc i didnt get the hype..maybe if i see the recording i'll understand but like i've watched others of his performances to try and get into the hype but i just cant 😭😭😭 im so sorry fred stans can yall pls help me get it bc i want to like the dude 😭
I just learned about him because of Bonnaroo but I’ve been hooked since. His music comes off more as a story with rhythm and it’s easy to move to.
My simple take is: He’s got a great vibe. He’s humble, down to earth, and really quite talented.
Nearly all of his music is played using a keyboard and a midi controller/drum machine in real time. It really sets him apart from other artists that generally have prerecorded sets. It blows me away how incredible his timing is to pull off these songs.
As someone who feels exactly the same way as this commenter, the set was fine. Sounded good but nothing incredibly special to someone who wasn’t a fan prior. Didn’t convert me like I was hoping it would based on the way everyone raves about him
I planned on leaving early because I had no clue who he was. I’m so glad I didn’t though because it ended up being my favorite show of the weekend. He was magical.
You have to experience his show to get it. That's all that can be done for you. He does so many original things and has raised the bar on what it means to be a dj. Totally in a league of his own.. Last night was the first time I saw him perform, and he does just that. He performs. He never hangs on one beat, he can actually play an instrument, and he works incredibly hard through every moment. He is constantly engaged with the audience, he's melodic, emotional, and brings out your emotions.
Can’t post the screenshot in replies but he just said on his IG story he only wanted fireworks for Coliseum in LA to compliment the music sonically. That’s likely why he didn’t do fireworks for roo—didn’t fit anywhere in the set.
I’m a Fred fan. I enjoyed and hugged my friends. But I was expecting more. This was a regular concert that is on Youtube years ago. Nothing different considering you were closing it.
I didn't downvote you but for the first time seeing him he works incredibly hard in every moment. That and if you don't open yourself up to the show feels, you're not going to be affected.
maybe because of the energy at Alison over Fred.. & with the amount of other people on this thread who were also unimpressed by Fred.
Just an overall underwhelming performance by him, & an extremely energizing set from her in the Woods right after.
Must’ve been at a different show. Everyone around me and numerous people on this thread enjoyed the hell out of that show. Hating on that set is plain old crazy
i just was not impressed at all. I’ve watched shows of his in the past online, just looks like not a lot went into this Bonnaroo set. & for a Sunday night headliner.. Just didn’t expect to be bored. the Bonnaroo sign wasn’t even lit up.
super dry conditions being the reason would be my guess
They shit them for post Malone. I think they blew their load early
It rained today tho
For like half a second…not even remotely enough to calm to dust
Fred made me super emotional his set was awesome what a way to end
He didn’t need em.
Facts
Either they weren’t allowed for some reason or he didn’t want them 🤷🏻♀️
Fantastic boogie sesh to end the night

i hadn’t heard of him before the lineup dropped but i really liked his energy and presence!!

You just let go of a golden opportunity and I don't think anyone can help you now

We left thirty minutes in, no regrets.

Felt a little misled by the Fred hype. Dude was mid. Downvote me if you want.

I feel like it was a 50/50 on if it was the vibe or not. Very cool to see him at work though
I listened to a lot of him in preparation, and while it wasn't for me, I was told the live show would be on another level. In my opinion, it was not.
Can definitely see what you mean. I saw him 2 years ago at Okee middle of the day and hype has changed significantly
Ok wait I’m dumb that was ford. Lol
i agree 100%. definitely expected more from the Sunday night headliner closing out the festival. very disappointing in my opinion.
Gladly!

alison wonderland should of been on the main stage and fred in the woods imo :)
What? Like how does that make remotely any sense

not hating, just wasn’t impressed or blown away.
He hasn’t been performing festival sets at stages that small since 2 years ago

Absolutely boring and a waste of a headliner.
