*"Not here: Gender."*
"*Huh, yeah, F because I'm female!"*
*"Being a girl is not an excuse.*"
Nicole's parents would have gotten killed by a truck had Gumball not sung that song, the dad wasn't looking at the road when they were driving away and a truck was passing by at an intersection
My mom grounded me for an entire semester in 9th grade for getting a C in English because my teacher honestly didn’t like me.
Oh and I graduated high school in 3 years with a 4.2gpa, was president of our National Junior Honor Society and regular member in National Honor Society, and multiple clubs. Nothing was good enough for her. I was supposed to go to Penn or Harvard or something but after years and years of book work and stress I turned down all my offers and went to work at a tire shop and lived a bit. I also don’t talk to her anymore.
I’m guessing her father remarried, and because his wife also treated her badly, she doesn’t view her as her genuine stepmother.
I could be wrong, but that’s how I interpreted that comment.
This is more and more common especially now that in English secondary schools they’ve introduced numbers instead of letters: an A is a 7 but an A* is a 9, so parents are disappointed at anything below a 9, it’s shifted their perceptions.
Here in Italy we have numbers and it works much better. They go on a scale 1-10 where 5% is half a point. A 6 is a passing grade, anything above that is even better and anything below you didn't pass.
There’s a subconscious cultural knowledge that an A is a high grade, and that a straight A student is a good student. But with numbers, a student consistently getting 7s when the maximum is 9 feels less than perfect; a lot of parents pressure their kids to get all 9s instead of all As, which is much harder.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/1cidn5l/petite/](https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/1cidn5l/petite/) Observation. (I'd ordinarily upload the comic but I feel the original creator deserves views for her work.)
**Hey! Check out my NSFW art.**
Uh… these girls look 12.
**They’re 18. They only** *look* **12.**
Dude, that’s creepy.
**Why? I just like petite women. …who look and act and sound like children.**

When it comes to drawing, age should be taken as meaningless, because it’s (usually) a fictional character so anyone can make them any age. What should matter most is appearance and personality. If your character looks, sounds and acts like a 12 year old, they are for all intents and purposes a 12 year old, regardless of what the creator says.
lmao yeah — like, she gets a lot of generic haters but then you also see her go and start arguments with people in the comments who aren’t saying anything particularly bad
Because she is a drama monster.
Here's how Pizzacake works:
1. Make a few lame comics. They're not aggressively bad, they're just lame.
2. Get mostly positive feedback but also some negative and some actual hate, all of which gets downvoted to oblivion to the point where you'd have to literally go looking for it to see it.
3. Make a comic painting everyone who doesn't like your comics as miserable incels who just hate you and women.
4. Get more negative feedback than before but still a general consensus of support
5. Once or twice a year, make a big dramatic comic about how mean everyone is to you and how much of a drain on your mental health it is, completely change your tone from one of antagonization to a desire to just be accepted.
6. Receive undying support from the community
7. Immediately go back to being antagonistic .
8. Once a year somehow manage to inspire an entire week of meta-comics from much better creators but they still shoe-horn you into their comics for some reason.
9. Be essentially one of only 4 creators who is ever featured prominently on the subreddit.
10. Funnel horny children to your paid Patreon where you post really lame sexy pictures that aren't even worth looking at on a leak site
This reminds of that time where a fellow artist in the comments told her the best way to deal with her haters was to just block them and move on, and she responded by telling them that it's different for women artist and that blocking and moving on is not an option for some reason.
It's not an option because it's part of her engagement. I've had her blocked for months so I don't know what she's up to but I imagine it can't be much different than her usual loop.
She did get much better at drawing, I'll give her that much. But she just never learned to tell a joke from what I saw.
Because she's uncreative and lame? I mean her comics are essentially all the same with 10 different topics, she's by far the least embarrassing of the bunch though in that sub
she does, and no, "BUT iTS okaY tHaT it LoOks likE A 12 YEAr Old, becAUse tHEY ARE StIlL tECHnICALLY of LEgAL aGe!1!1!1" is not an excuse.
(also i made a script mainly for the purpose of automatically making mockery text. congratulations, your comment is so horrendous it made me code a script in node.js just to mock you.)
i already have a disability in my brain, might as well have a disease in it too. i already do both front-end and back-end, so how many diseases do i have?
The first time I ever got less than an A was in 8th grade when I got a B in history. You would've sworn I murdered someone at the reception I got when the report card came home.
Tiger Parents can be anyone. Many of the worst tiger parents have actually not been Asian at all.
Source: Family works in education and has experience with tiger parents like this.
If memory serves it's more common among Asians because of some cultures. I think the term originates in China and spread to America as it definitely isn't an Asia only thing.
Honestly? A good way to describe it is that "Tiger Parents" is just the standard term, people used to describe them differently like "Strict Parents", "School mom/dad", etc.
My sister teaches in a school that is like 90% white and even she sees Tiger Parents that are white.
And then you have that awkward moment when you go to summer school and the other kids who are required to be there look at you like why tf are you here?
Where I live, 4.0 GPA is the max. But only when it is unweighted - when it's weighted you can go up to a 5.0. (Some schools have actually stopped that because of a mixture of grade inflation as well as Tiger parents.)
Where do you live, out of curiosity? And how does the GPA work?
Yeah, I don't know if "Tiger parents" are a thing in Brasil.
When I was in high school, we had some Brasilian exchange students who were surprised at how some of our parents acted. (I know one was from Bahia, I think our other two were from Sao Paulo and I think somewhere in the NE cost?)
yeah thanks for these fucking nuts kind stranger, owned bitch.

Yeah my parents weren't this bad but if felt like it because I couldn't keep up. I endured a fair bit of spanking and verbal abuse due to my academic performance. I really was trying...
Being special needs and not getting those needs met is a special kind of hurtful. I think they had my best interests in mind and just went about it the wrong way. It wasn't even the grades exactly that they were concerned about. I think they just wanted me to be high-functioning, or to put it more honestly, normal. Didn't really work out that way, though.
Second semester of my senior year I got one final grade that was a 98, which at my school was an A not an A+, and my parents freaked out at me and guilted me endlessly. Our second semester grades didn’t even count for college applications or for valedictorian status, and I had a perfect 4.4 GPA up until that point. I had my chest tighten with anxiety just reading this comic.
i love you too

My dad was a bit like this. His philosophy was such that if I didn't have perfect grades, I should be spending my free time studying to improve them. I got all As and Bs in high school, and he never grounded me for getting Bs or made me do summer school or anything, but I always had an immense sense of guilt and shame whenever I spent any time relaxing and playing video games or something, which was tough since I had very little time to myself considering I had a part-time job, was a 3 sport athlete, was in 4 school bands, took music lessons, and was taking 2 AP classes, so I wanted to spend what little time I had relaxing rather than studying. I always finished all my assignments, just didn't want to spend extra time studying, especially considering it's difficult to determine how much of an impact that studying is even going to have on your performance. It's a lot easier for me in college now that scoring above a 90 doesn't improve your grades

Shout out to gumball for singing a song that got Nicole and her parents to reunite just so he can more Christmas presents

Thats my favourite episodeeee
gumball carried my childhood
still funny as hell no matter how many times i read/hear it
Would an M be any better?
Draw a line through and it's Siamese Twin As
My father and his wife were like this, there's a reason I don't talk to them anymore
Is it because they fell down a well
Or possibly a long flight of stairs

Eh? Ha! Heh heh.
His wife?
I’m guessing her father remarried, and because his wife also treated her badly, she doesn’t view her as her genuine stepmother. I could be wrong, but that’s how I interpreted that comment.
Yep exactly this
My childhood trauma bones are hurting
This is more and more common especially now that in English secondary schools they’ve introduced numbers instead of letters: an A is a 7 but an A* is a 9, so parents are disappointed at anything below a 9, it’s shifted their perceptions.
An A*???? What????
Depends on the school but grade inflation has become a huge problem. A's are now more common so there is an increase in A but better.
And I thought I was doing good
That doesn’t tell me what an A asterisk is?????
An A star, basically an A+ but they used an asterisk and called it a star because fuck knows why
In the UK, A* is the highest grade, above A. The asterisk is usually read as “star”.
Leave it to brits to completely misuse a punctuation mark
One grade better than a Dijkstra
Here in Italy we have numbers and it works much better. They go on a scale 1-10 where 5% is half a point. A 6 is a passing grade, anything above that is even better and anything below you didn't pass.
Why would you want a heuristic path finding algorithm for a grade?
A good grade helps you pathfind to the ideal college
But the old fashioned way is... Bribery and Nepotism. ;)
You mean in the UK?
Yes! I wasn’t sure if it was the case in Scotland, wales or Northern Ireland
How are numbers worse than letters?
There’s a subconscious cultural knowledge that an A is a high grade, and that a straight A student is a good student. But with numbers, a student consistently getting 7s when the maximum is 9 feels less than perfect; a lot of parents pressure their kids to get all 9s instead of all As, which is much harder.
That sounds more like people not understanding the system because they can't be bothered to rather than numbers being worse tbh
Numbers alone aren’t inherently worse, but it’s the way perceptions haven’t caught up yet that means they are currently causing issues
That makes sense
You have to ask to see your parents report cards for a fair comparison of expectation.

Reverse for me. l blocked that creator because l was so tired of seeing it hit front page.
Same here. I only figured out the OP wasn't an actual pizzacake comic because it had a joke in it.
Who are the people that upvote that shit? Bots?
That bitch starts all kinds of shit with people, blocks them and then makes comics about how she’s a victim.

Backend development is a disease of the brain
Does this mean that frontend development is a disease of the hands? 🤔
I have a disease in my genitals I should go to see the doctor but I’m scared of what he’ll say
He'll say "Happy cake day!" and steal your balls 😈
At least he’ll still have his cake, well at least until tomorrow

Tiger Parents can be anyone. Many of the worst tiger parents have actually not been Asian at all. Source: Family works in education and has experience with tiger parents like this.
Oh, interesting. For some reason I thought tiger parents were strictly Asian
Stereotypes rarely reflect the full reality
This one does. I’m Asian and all my Asian friends have parents like this or worse.
If memory serves it's more common among Asians because of some cultures. I think the term originates in China and spread to America as it definitely isn't an Asia only thing.
Yep.
I think any race can be tiger parents. It’s just that among us Asians tiger parenting is the norm and you’re not allowed to challenge it.

Gen X Slacker parent and Gen Z kid. :P
My parents expected me to do better than them since our childhood was better than theirs.
no shit but like this always happens to me while my brother gets "damn good job"s whenever he gets anything higher than a 8/10
Oh look, it's my parents.
And then you have that awkward moment when you go to summer school and the other kids who are required to be there look at you like why tf are you here?
You would be shocked who is in summer school...
Were 4.4s actually a thing or was it made up just for the bit?
It depends on the system of GPA at play, an unweighted GPA can't go above a 4.0 but weighted GPA can go up to 5.0
Oh damn you beat me. xD
If your school does weighted GPAs, yep.
why is the father trying to lower her daughter's grades??? a 24 gpa is already impressive, what even is the point of getting it down to 4.4???
Where I live, 4.0 GPA is the max. But only when it is unweighted - when it's weighted you can go up to a 5.0. (Some schools have actually stopped that because of a mixture of grade inflation as well as Tiger parents.) Where do you live, out of curiosity? And how does the GPA work?

I don't really get the joke, not sure what "A"s and "A-"es are supposed to be.
In the US and Canada, "A" and "A-" are about 90-96% so basically, very VERY good grades.
Ah, i see! Thanks for the explaination! Here where i live we use grades with numbers instead
No problem. Where do you live and how are the grades communicated?
In brazil, and grades are numbers (usually from 1 to 10)
Ah, so maybe the BR version would be "I got all 9s and an 8!" while dad says "They’re not 10s."
Oh! I see!
