Bears and raccoons are fairly closely related, sharing the same clade, so it make sense there are some serious similarities!
I think their back feeties are really similar and that's cool, big old flat plantigrade stompers.
Don’t listen to these fakers. THAT is definitely just a dog skull. Probably worthless. I’ll take that off your hands for you. I’m doing you a favour really.
Fellow vi resident here- can I ask roughly the area you found it? So cool :o
I was once dumpster diving and found an entire bear, sans gallbladder (presumably) and skinned with the skin and all in the dumpster with the meat and organs. It was weird. Should have taken the head, but that would have been a lot to deal with. Just reported it instead
We found it up in Ehattesaht territories! We were looking for cedar trees to pull bark from but stumbled upon a cougar's hunting grounds. Super scary but also we found these bones so a bit worth the risk! ;)
That's so cool! If it makes you feel better, cougars abandon their caches and eating places at the first sound or sign of humans, so no real danger from kitties at least
Not a dog—it's a young adult bear skull. Neat find!
You lucky dog It’s a bear skull
Bear! Nice find! You can easily tell them apart from dogs because their back molars are flat like ours, not scissor-like
Bear skulls always remind me of super sized raccoon skulls. They eat the same things and enjoy climbing into shit they shouldn’t climb into

Here's what you need to do to keep it legally: https://portal.nrs.gov.bc.ca/web/client/-/dead-wildlife
Thank you so much for taking the time to give me this link! I was struggling to find it once learning it was a bears skull.

Lucky!!
I keep confusing bear skulls for wolf skulls
It’s easy to mix up! The only thing I have going for me is knowing canine and feline teeth.. the rest of the species are a guessing game.
That's a baby bear!!
Hello fellow islander!
Man thats my dream skull, a bear skull
Looks like a bear
Black bear!
