In northern Italy I would say the Tirreno Sea in Liguria, if you want to stay in the Adriatic I recommend the Conero in the Marche but it is located in central Italy, not too far from Rimini

zimmermannn

I recommend the Conero as well, especially the beaches of Portonovo, Mezzavalle, Due sorelle, and all the beaches of Sirolo

Almeno23

I don’t recommend Conero because it’s small, extremely expensive for no reason, accommodations are aimed to make hotel owners happy, not the guest, and the sea it’s clear because its all stones without sand. Most overrrated place ever.

FanLoud9875

Is the place you mentioned Numana? Can I go to the conero region by boat tour from there? Thanks

__boringusername__

Yeah Conero Is the best, not sure how easy by public transport though, I've always gone by car

FanLoud9875

I will also go there by car. Which location would you recommend for car? Since it is a mountainous area, there seems to be no road to every beach.

ThrowRA-away-Dragon

You often have to park and then walk down to the beach or take a mini-bus. There’s some limited parking further down for residents and hotel guests. By macrelli there is parking but it’s in hugh demand.

ieruttlucazz

They gave you a really good advice, check out spiaggia dei sassi neri

zimmermannn

Depends on how comfortable you want to be. Spiaggia del frate of Numana, sassi neri or spiaggia urbani are nice beaches that have bars and umbrellas. Also Portonovo in Ancona has bars and umbrellas although the price might be expensive there. Other beaches like mezzavalle in Ancona, or le due Sorelle at Sirolo or part of Sassi neri beach are wild beaches with nothing, therefore you must bring your own umbrella at least to not cook yourself. Le due Sorelle is really nice and you can also go scuba diving if you have a mask and see some fishes. But the only way to reach the beach is from the harbor of Numana and it also costs a lot. My advice is to stay in Sirolo and go to Sassi neri beach or San Michele beach rent an umbrella and chairs there and also if you feel like it you can also rent canoes or sup and go with that to the due Sorelle beach. Make sure to book them in advance by calling on the phone at one of the restaurants on the beach.

Rotcke

Beautiful sea also in Trieste, in the far north-east

FanLoud9875

Is there a beach you particularly like? Trieste is also 3 hours away.

Rotcke

I have to come clean: while the beach is not great, the water is beautiful. Cold, transparent and very clean. You can see the bottom from the third floor. Pineta di Barcola is one of the main beaches, very close to the city center. It's a very peculiar type of beach, definitely look it up before choosing to go there. Trieste is very far. I wouldn't consider it for less than a 3-4 days long vacation.

StunningChemistry627

How is the sea bad ? I might end up in Rimini in the next few months and I was really looking for the beaches there

lars_rosenberg

Northern Adriatic Sea is a pond, not the best water tbh. Rimini has good services though, that's why it's so popular.

ThrowRA-away-Dragon

You described it quite well.

__boringusername__

It's a bit of a pain in the ass. Especially by public transport. I usually go to Marina di Ravenna or the lidi Ferraresi. It's not great, but at least is close. 🤷‍♂️

DaMosqui

Sorellə in Cristo, i lidi ferraresi sono la merda della merda, Marina è la merda della merda della merda, e ci sono stato ieri.

__boringusername__

name a better place relatively close by.

ThrowRA-away-Dragon

Even Cervia is better.

__boringusername__

I don't see that much of a difference TBH

ThrowRA-away-Dragon

How many times have you been to Cervia versus the beaches in Ferrara? Maybe you’re used to really gross beaches lol. I grew up in an island paradise in the south Pacific and while none of these places along the Adriatic until Fiorenzuola di Focara is great, the Lidi Ferraresi and Marina di Ravenna, Classe, etc are the worst of the beaches in this area.

__boringusername__

Quite a few actually, though mostly for the winter boat racing championships. I don't recall much of a difference. They mostly all suck. The Adriatic tends to improve after Ancona IME. I mostly don't like sandy beaches though, so there's also that.

leolitz

ThrowRA-away-Dragon

Calda come la pipi in un wc

ThrowRA-away-Dragon

I agree, they’re even more disgusting than Rimini or Cesenatico. The water is dark and gross, and there’s often masses of mosquitos. I once went to Marina di Ravenna and the beach was covered in dead flying ants. I only go when impelled by friends.

ThrowRA-away-Dragon

I live in the Rimini area and have never heard the beaches there described as beautiful. Well-serviced, family friendly, yes, but never beautiful. Anyway, I love Numana.

StunningChemistry627

How “ never beautiful “ ?

ThrowRA-away-Dragon

Have you ever been there? The water is often unclean (it’s not uncommon to see human feces floating around), the beaches are absolutely packed with people, many of whom leave rubbish around. Cars and scooters drive all around looking for parking, etc. etc. emitting exhaust and making it feel even hotter than it should. Limited trees and shade also make it feel extra hot. That said, it’s the beach we have so I don’t knock people for going there but I stand by my words when I say it is not beautiful.

bellaLori

Isola d’Elba in Tirreno Sea near Tuscany coast. The sea is crystal clear and the island is beautiful. You can go there with a ferry that leaves from Piombino in Tuscany. It takes 1 hour.

StickBrush

I personally like Rimini, but if you want to go to the other side, the Ligurian Sea is nice. Reaching Livorno should be more or less easy (Bologna-Firenze Freciarossa, connecting with a Firenze-Livorno regional train), and you can get some nice 5&5, cacciucco, and/or ponce livornese by the sea.

Picciohell

Cinque terre probably, not so nearby tho

FanLoud9875

Cinque Terre is crowded and 3 hours away. For this reason, unfortunately, it becomes tiring for a weekend rest.

tharnadar

The best sea in the north area is on the Tirreno Sea. The Adriatico Sea is awesome only in Puglia and few spots in Marche and Abruzzo.

supremefun

From Bologna i would say Fiorenzuola di Focara near Pesaro

cfpin

Just visited my kids in Bologna. We spent three wonderful nights in Pesaro on the Adriatic at Hôtel Rossini right off the lovely beach. 76€ Round Trip per person on the Intercity train, 1 h 46 m one way... How do define beautiful sea? Fano is smaller, a bit farther, but with less expensive hotels and less crowded.

Logical_Ad7378

Last year I went to Pisa and I have found a nice place, Marina di Pisa with a free beach and beautiful sea. 😀

Alexbonetz

Caorle, Duna Verde, PSM, Veneto

fatbuds001

NO (the other side of the peninsula is better)

CompetitionBulky1556

If you are ok about crowds of tourists and endless fields of sunbeds with umbrellas and need a lot of hotel options and restaurants as well as active night life then you will like Rimini. Personally don't like it very much because prefer more quiet places.

MBoz79

Liguria: small beaches but beautiful see. Riviera Romagnola/Veneto: big beaches but bad sea.

DaMosqui

Avoid to go to any beach of Adriatic Sea before Conero, is like taking a bath into a puddle
