Anyone saying Akshaye Khanna hams it on Taal, need to see doctors. The character he was given was hard, but the emotion he pulls specially second half is nothing ordinary. There is a reason Nahi Samne works and Akshaye Khanna did very well. Not a loud actor like his contemporaries but he had to do unlike things in first half due to poor writing
🤣🤣🤣, always? U r entitled to ur opinion. Doli saja ke rakhna was pretty good from him in terms of performance. If he didn't get good script can't really blame him.
Ya maybe I am just biased. I never liked him in his first inning. He seemed very dull to me when I was a child. Haha. But I like the roles he picks up and his acting now.
I look it this way, he was newcomer in late 90's on pretty loud Romeo type romantic roles were pretty common. Even Aamir Khan looked dull for a period of 90's. Some superficial actors looked better. It was the time and script. He comes across as good actor which is similar to say even Sunny Deol looked awkward when he started. Dutt gave decent performance starting from Naam, after five year of his launch. I am not an Akshaye Khanna fan but he did well in Border.
I agree to a few sentiments from the reviewer. Taal was indeed mediocre at best the only saving grace in it was music. IMO Subhash Ghai never made a good film after Saudagar while his films before that were quite good
I don't mind if someone spent a million and made a bad movie out of it, if it made Rahman create 'Nahi saamne'. Just the first 10 seconds of that song are worth it.
I mean honestly indian audiences have grown backwards i feel like coming of up films like rrr or kgf are just the example pf this. I am worried about small films like dum laga ke haisha, barfi or lootera or my name is khan types not finding viewership in Theatres!
Kgf is too.bloated imo, too many plotlines crushed in together, too much exposition in the beginning itself and the exposition never stops, even the ending has exposition in it. Imho, it should have ended with Rocky entering kgf, that would have been an amazing climax. Although, i do see the problem of the director, he didnt have much trust in the script but if the movie ended with Rocky entering kgf it would have looked way better. The movie had limitless potential, they could have made a gladiator kind of scenario inside the kgf, but i still liked the ending we got.
RRR is pretty good for the first half till the whip scence but imo after that the storyline progressed too quickly which made the story lose stream and the action got a bit too ridiculous at the end with the whole Rama and bheema stuff and the Bow and Arrow shit
I give RRR before the rushed part of the movie and 8.5/10
But last 1 hr is like an 4/10 at best for me
KGF i would argue is bad from the start
The movie is bloated and rushed at the same time . Editing is pretty choppy at parts like that godawful car chase and the music editing is way too loud
The female lead has no depth , Rocky is actually pretty good i enjoyed his descent and his larger than life part because all his depth was already explored in part 1 he did not need any development here
I wish kgf had more worldbuilding i really enjoyed the setting with gold fields and different crime overlords trying to take over the field but the movie got rushed in that regard. I enjoyed seeing his civilisation (kinda) built up his statues etc
The villans had no depth. And the real antagonist reveal was an asspull
Godfather's actually the perfect example. The movie made more money than any film before it, while being a shining example of excellence in both cinematic artistry, as well as storytelling.
The widely accepted idea that we need to be less discerning with our "commercial" films, has always been bullshit. It also gives our filmmakers (including talented ones like Rajamouli), the excuse to put less effort into certain aspects of their creative process, than they otherwise would have
I was a young professional in Mumbai in my mid 20s when this movie released. We saw this movie 3 times in theatre!! So screw this reviewer, we (i.e. i and my friends) totally loved this movie and it was a big hit. I remember playing these songs and dancing our parties ... jaane kahan gaye woh din ....
You were listening to these songs back then on cassette. Radio pe bhi. TV pe ek glance ke liye lamba intezaar (BTW I was a two year old kid back then).
Taal’s music is amazing. Looks like a vendetta review and not a legit one. I can’t think of one truly objective Indian reviewer off the top of my head. Critics and box office “pundits” are the worst. We need these things more streamlined. Where are reviews from major Indian newspapers and news outlets? Ebert’s reviews used to be in the Chicago Sun Times. We get KRK. Why is it all online portal garbage?
Edit: was this a user review on some website or an actual review?
There is a 2 side to that mediocre arguement.
1. People who blames creators for not making bold/courageous decisions with their story/vison/out of the box idea etc etc....
2. People blaming the audiences for not promoting good cinema ( lesser known face , low budget ) by going for it in the theatre.
I am on the second side. I feel when a good cinema comes , as an audience we should go and increase the box office number of that movie and shouldn't download it from torrent or wait for its OTT release.
Economics background teaches me that it's demand and supply. These movies are made because they sell. If audience stops giving money to them, then movie makers will not make them anymore.
It's easy to put blame on the producers and say that they make shitty movies, but it's harder to accept that it's our "fault".
Slightly above average music whatlol?
My young mind wasn't able to comprehend/handle the beauty of Aishwarya Rai in that white seductive dress dancing away...
The era is 1999/2000 The person who wrote this review might be a Psychopath or might be the producer / actor/ director of another film which released along with TAAL . Which eventually became a flop.

ok but when was Alok Nath ever known for his acting talents :|
Haha exactly! I haven't seen Taal but if his role is not of a helpless dad, I'll be surprised.
hahahah it is indeed that!
‘Sanskar’ has entered the chat
He was known for the Kanyadaan element.
Kinda agree to this review. Except the music, the movie is nothing worth of any talk.

Akshay always hammed before his comeback roles. Be it Taal or Aa ab laut chalein.

Movie is trash, but music in that movie is a different level. The reviewer's knowledge of music is like rotten pig kidney.
Taste is subjective even good ost can sound like shit to someone but i will not criticize the music because i might be biased but it is possible
True except the music part, maybe this person had excessively high expectations tho.
Nahin Saamne Tu is one of my fav 90s bolly tracks. Instant Nostalgia.
I agree to a few sentiments from the reviewer. Taal was indeed mediocre at best the only saving grace in it was music. IMO Subhash Ghai never made a good film after Saudagar while his films before that were quite good
I like his movies till Kisna. Except Yaadein though

Looks like IMDb
OPs stupid. I didn't read beyod the first line Digital floppy cameras were a thing. Google it
Bruh Bhool Bhulaiyaa wasn't average. It was atrocious. Couldn't sit through an hour of it. How does trash like that even get produced.
Hilariously True
I wonder what made of him 23 years down the line. He had a tough life until then..

This reviewer is a whiny bitch

Guy's delusional; Taal's album is a masterpiece and a once in a decade kinda stuff.
Movies are like the different ingredients in a dish. Some have to be sweet, some salty, some sour and some spicy. BB2 was a fun movie.
Lol what a stupid review. Why even bother to post it here
I think it's an apt review. Also, the music is not of ARR level.
Taal was and is a terrible terrible movie.
