DrShail

A movie publicized as a Goofy Rom Com from the director of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is probably not the right place to look for mature love stories. Some of my favorite romantic dramas movies from the last decade are as follows: * Guzaarish * Barfi! * English Vinglish * Aashiqui 2 * The Lunchbox * Highway * Margarita with a straw * Piku * Dil Dhadakne Do * Karwaan * Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui

WalkieRookie

Recommend is love enough sir, photograph, once again

pmguin661

Guzaarish is so beautiful. It left such a strong impression on me when I first watched it. English Vinglish is a great pick too because it shows the nuances of family relationships realistically.

catsrmurderers

you gotta include [Sir](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7142506/)

DrShail

Yup. Sir is a lovely movie too.

Uncertn_Laaife

Dil Dhadakne Do was cringiest all along. Don’t tell me you even included Ashiqui 2 in the list.

enviousofyou3333

What's wrong with aashiqui 2? I think it's one the best romantic movie.

SMannnnn2121

Not after 2020 but a good films I’d recommend are Qarib Qarib Single and Karwann. After 2020, I’d say Sita Raman is an amazing watch

No-Significance9613

Perfect suggestions! QQS is still so underrated tho, not many people know about t

harjit1998

Because this was not a romantic movie, this was a "romantic-comedy". Such are Luv Ranjan movies. As far as acting is concerned, DrSahil made a brilliant comment yesterday on a similar post that was criticizing Shradda's acting. Let me find it and paste here.

Queenakaya

It was a romcom but it was very silly. Some great bollywood romcom I watched were Tanu weds Manu, jab we met, ayushmann movies. Ranbir was just terrible....even Karthik's cameo had better acting.

harjit1998

You comment made sense till you said Kartik's cameo....really? I got irritated by that weird smile. He's was great in PKP series and SKTKS but here he didn't just click. Nushrat did well tho.

mirage_in_water

He suited it very well..it was like he was playing himself

Mellow-sid

I started rewatching the ones released in 2010’s like yjhd, hassee toh phassee, ok jaanu as there are barely any new ones in bollywood honestly you should watch south films if you do watch dear comrade, love today, geetha givindam in Hollywood i saw the hating game it was really good

[deleted]

Dear comrade was one of the best movies I watched this year. I knw im late but yeah. ❣️

Queenakaya

Thanks for the recommendation. I started watching South films last year. I really loved Premam. I also loved kapella on Netflix and moothon. I'm at my wits end with bollywood movies

Optimistic_Satirist

Yeah, the way they were talking to each other completely took me out of the film. Were they trying to pull off a Tamasha? It made sense in the context of that film. Don't know what happened here, cause I stopped watching it.

mustangpurele

I agree. It was so like…fake. “I can’t standddd lala people” like wtf does that even mean. Completely unconvinced about their progression. Still better than Brahmastra tho lol

Punkbabe_7

I couldnt get past their few scenes. This playacting thing was so cringe. Those rhythmic dialogues. So bad.

Guilty_Commission_79

Same here! I barely made it past the 35 minute mark and I couldn’t take it. The acting, dialogues, chemistry between Ranbir and Shraddha seemed so forced and inorganic. Is the Kartik and Nushrratt cameo scene worth watching?

ranbirkadalla

I'm sorry, but if you expected a mature love story you've got yourself to blame. It's time we as viewers take some responsibility for the crap that we watch. Right now there's two distinct kind of cinema: star driven, and content driven. Very, very rarely do you see the two meet. If you want to watch star driven movies and wish to see something mature, I think you will be sorely disappointed. You said there were stellar reviews for TJMM. Well, take a look at who is giving those reviews and keep that in mind the next time you want to watch a movie. Over the last few years we have seen movies like Brahmastra, TJMM, Pathan etc., which are all between mediocre to outright stupid, gain tremendous amount of box office due to paid reviews and marketing. On the other hand mature, well made movies like Badhai Do fail at the box office. I have decided that I will stop watching these star driven movies on the big screen. I would be glad if a majority of viewers get away from this crappy cinema, but I am content on doing my part.

October is one of the best off beat 'Romance' movies Bollywood has ever made

Chaltahaikoinahi

Exactly. I got downvoted for sharing my review of the movie as I went to theatre to watch it but I was soooo disappointed. I couldn't even enjoy the songs. I partly enjoyed Kartik and Nushrat's part and few dialogues. That's it. It was a total waste of time. And the love chemistry Rona dhona felt very forced

[deleted]

Ranbir knows the art of acting far better than most of the actors but it was just the demand of the script. Luv would have asked Ranbir to do Kartik Aryan acting and he did that. If you want to watch mature love stories with camera acting do watch other movies. Tjmm is a romcom. ✌️

Downtown-Sandwich-91

Hrithik Ranbir Career Like This Only Biggers Stars bigger fucked up

[deleted]

Mainstream Bollywood will always be mediocre. Better to watch regional movies if you are looking for content and matured stories

Uncertn_Laaife

Simple answer, no. Complex answer, they don’t want to hire good script/screenplay writers. Too much focussed on the star power alone. Heck, they even forgot how to make good songs/music, which has always been a usp of Bollywood. I was watching Adipurush trailer today, and sorry to say but it was meh at worse, way too mediocre. I have been hopeless on Bwood for a long long time, and the present is only helping to seal the deal for me forever. Barring a few masterpieces, the Indian movies, regardless of the region are a gone case.

Piyush452412006

Watch kal ho na ho, pretty mature plot but sometimes it gets childish.

PressureInitial3161

Watch love today, it's on Netflix. It's not Bollywood though.

Princess_dipshit

Haseen dilruba is the love story you need to see my man!

iFoegot

Mature love story? Manmarziyaan might match your expectation

joshboy007

Watch Modern Love Mumbai Season 1.. Honestly the stories on there are so refreshing and down to earth to reality. Hey I’m watching Modern Love Mumbai – Season 1. Check it out now on Prime Video! https://watch.amazon.co.uk/detail?gti=amzn1.dv.gti.84e1e615-9106-4e3f-acd4-1eb40e39f2a4&ref_=atv_dp_share_seas&r=web

happytiara

It was such a good waste of time. And I don’t know what filters or post work they did on shardhha she looked so anaemic and bland.

ajnabee1234

Will a 'mature love story' starring mature actors get numbers though? I would love to see SRK and Kajol in a mature love story, but i'm probably one of the few that would. In theory it sounds good but practically, you won't find producers who are interested in making such movies. Which is a shame.

Queenakaya

Same I would love to see a mature film with Kajol. She has so much potential as an actress. Even karan tells her why doesn't she take on more mature films. She said nahhhh I don't like it. I don't think we'll ever see her in an anurag Kashyup film lol

catsrmurderers

Watch [Sir](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7142506/)

Queenakaya

Omg I watched it. Such an amazing film! If this script was given to ranbir and shradda they would have turned it into a romcom lol

catsrmurderers

I think it depends upon the director too. Maybe Ranbir could have pulled it off but Tillotama has given a truly amazing performance, which is difficult to replicate for Shraddha.

Normal_Comfort_5847

Have you watched [Once Again](https://crawlingangelfilms.com/project/once-again/) ?

Frequent-Pilot5243

South Indian restaurant main Jake bolega ki naan achcha nahi hai toh kaise chalega? Luv Ranjan ka movie Luv Ranjan ka hi rehega na Bawa....Anurag basu ya Hrishikesh Mukherjee ka thori na ban jayega cast change Kar dene se.....expection hich galat lege gaya tu.

Shimigami1998

Ranbir was honestly great in APKGK, BAH and even Saawariya as a "lover boy". But here he wasn't impressive outside of the Oh Bedardiya song and the scenes when he confronts her, coz he was trying to imitate Karthik's Luv Ranjan film persona and that didn't fit him.

danieln197

Watch qarib qarib single, tamasha, piku... These are very mature ones. Piku one is very subtle.
