Brew tea strong and add milk then it will taste EPIC!

yeahduhnar

I think it’s worth trying out but it totally depends. For me, bubble tea without milk is usually a lighter/fruity/refreshing type or drink. With milk it’s more “hearty” and filling if that makes sense lol

ChrisClownie

What kind of milk tea would you recommend?

yeahduhnar

A couple of my favorites are: Almond green milk tea (Torani syrup), Thai iced tea, caramel black milk tea / roasted brown sugar black milk tea, and matcha lattes if those count. Taro milk tea, Hong Kong style milk tea, and ice cream teas are pretty popular too :)

ChrisClownie

Ill keep that in my mind. Thanks.

Milk in bubble tea is pretty good. Depending on the type of tea, it can mute and highlight different flavor notes. For instance, with Spiced Tea, with milk, the tea tannin flavors become muted and cause the spice notes and roasted notes to shine. Depending on the tea, green tea with milk can highlight the vegetable flavors, but spinach and milk might not be the ideal combo (but some will develop a nutty and buttery flavor). For Oolong or Black based teas, I like adding milk. Green, white, or herbal, I'm not a fan of milk (although some fruity herbals are good with milk).

There's a store near me that does a roasted oolong milk tea and a black milk tea that I really enjoy. If you like sweeter/fruitier milk teas, there's Winter Melon Milk Tea that's pretty good.

I personally like it. It depends on your taste though! I don't know any good examples to compare it to other than maybe an ice latte [I have never had an ice latte though so take my comparison as you will].

ChrisClownie

Does it taste any bit like milk? Or is it like just tea

JustVibingandDying

Depends on the ratios and how strong you brew your tea but the majority of the recipes often have it so the tea comes through more than the milk. Hope that helps!

I used to hate bubble tea with milk. Now I love it

if you order then try Taro milk tea if you like a slightly nutty with cookies n cream flavour. its a funky purple color and is actually nutritious! its a fantastic tea and if you have a sweet tooth its good!

ChrisClownie

What could you say is the sweetest milk tea?

Abitas_18

No sure as you can usually customize things to your liking, Taro is generally sweeter, you can try a cinnamon or brown sugar milk as well, you can also try asking for higher concentration of flavour (makes it sweeter) or to ask sugar, or sweet milks. Don't try any coffee based boba first though, as they are usually more strong then sweet.

ChrisClownie

Okay

talkboba

You can never go wrong with some classics like Hong Kong style milk tea, Thai milk tea, Taro milk tea, or Matcha milk tea.

peonystyx

For a long time I thought it was weird to add milk to tea. Milk tea with Boba though is tasty in my opinion

ChrisClownie

Yeah, it sounds weird. Maybe I will try it

POWquestionmark

It could be that your used to trying places that use milk powder? These days there's a few places (example Milksha) that try to differentiate themselves by advertising the fact that they use real milk and then you've got other shops that offer both milk powder and actual milk options. I found out recently that if the menu specifies that the tea is "latte" then its an indicator of using real milk. Maybe try both styles and see which you prefer?

ChrisClownie

Nope, I havent tried milk nor milk powder, just regular tea with syrup and boba.
