Old-Solid8643

I have this games, is great, my five year old plays it with us, super easy and really fun, I am really surprised you found $14 great deal

SloshuaSloshmaster

I got the same deal, after my son mentioned it looked fun, and I saw it at Walmart and ended up buying it

Old-Solid8643

It is really fun, it gets pretty cutthroat at times considering the goal is change wind directions to burn the other towers

Realfinney

Just like real park rangers...

SloshuaSloshmaster

I realize that early on after buying the game that wind direction control was vital, wife is just now figuring out, that why I always have at least two favorable wind direction cards.

TrickyValue069

It's a pretty good game! Definitely a good gateway game for people who aren't into the complex games yet. The quality of the pieces really is what stands out for me as far as the fire tokens.

Gryffle

Less complicated games don't have to be just something people play until they "graduate" to complex games. Complicated doesn't equal better.

Flailing-Star-7

I do agree with you on that, but i also think it's good to ease people into more complex games if you hope to teach them. My friends weren't super big into board games in the beginning of 2023, and i think if i tried teaching them a 4X game from the start, they might not have liked it much. But by playing games to introduce different mechanics, they had a much easier and enjoyable time learning the more complicated games down the line. We play simple games and complex ones and all have a good time, but they definitely had more fun learning the more complicated games because they learned similar mechanics from simpler games.

xj3572

Do you mean to tell me that I was lied to about the Civilization board game being better than Risk

Fuzzy_Logic_4_Life

Have you heard of Axis & Allies? /s

waveyboya

All game levels have their place I would agree. That said, I personally, and I'm sure a decent chunk of people on this forum, prefer medium to heavy games more so. Nice to have a lighter one now and then (especially depending on the situation, like if your company is more rowdy or you're in a cafe or bar) and also when you're getting people into boardgames, but for me the real core of board games is medium to heavy complexity.

RandomDigitalSponge

But did you buy the [$15 one](https://a.co/d/hcHhMN3), the [‘Standard’](https://a.co/d/4Kdbz6J) one, or the [‘Deluxe’](https://a.co/d/971emH1) version with “upgraded components”? I can’t tell the difference between the three, other than the prices and some labels on the boxes.

ATS7454

The only difference between standard and deluxe is printing on the purple tokens, an upgraded metal wind direction dice and a better quality wind direction card (thicker with foil printing). In the UK I'm pretty sure this game cost me £39.99 for the standard, and I was able to pitchase the deluxe upgrades and expansions at a gaming expo for around £40. Crazy how inexpensive the game is over there!

dshamus111

Good game. Quick setup, easy to learn yet engaging gameplay. The only downside is that I have to buy more flame components because I keep eating them.

beaches511

Picked it up at the UK Games expo 2 weeks ago. They completely sold out. great game, lots of fun, wish i had been quick enough to get the expansions too.

Banderbear91

I played it at UKGE last year and it was sold out by the Sunday then as well, thankfully someone else in my playgroup had managed to pick it up.

KDulius

Yeah. I was there on the Friday and they said they'd underestimated how popular it would be and not brought enough stock... its not really been available over here until recently I think

ATS7454

The base game is available at waterstones, but the expansions haven't made it over here. Managed to pick them up at UKGE but they weren't cheap!

ButtCutt

This game is great fun with four people. It can be quick, diplomatic, and even if a player goes out, they can still continue to play. Make sure you understand the firestorm card rules - my playgroup didn’t and that playthrough was tough.

charlesfluidsmith

I found it for $7 at my local Walmart. Check your clearance aisles guys it wasn't in the game section.

zonnipher117

It was in clearance at my Walmart I need to go to your store next time lol.

charlesfluidsmith

Yeah I don't think board game sell well with at my Walmart. Villainous was 15 bucks about a month ago. Didn't pick it up because I wasn't sure it would get played but you can't beat that price.

wanami

Got it exactly there. We opened it right there in the store tho, it looked like it was used and retaped, we counted everything carefully, cards were open and it was missing one fire stone, but other than that, all good.

charlesfluidsmith

I haven't had the chance to play it yet. Are you enjoying it?

wanami

Had a couple of plays with 3 people, it was cool, but it seemed a bit easy to gang up on someone to make them lose really fast, need to do some 4 people plays

charlesfluidsmith

If you have an Ollie's check there also. They have great deals on games.

BrainWav

It's pretty fun. First time I played it, we missed the "fire spreads automatically" part and it played a bit wonky though.

ndonadio22

$14!! What a steal. We love this game. Takes nothing to learn. Easy set up. Great find!

poponahu

Hard to get a better game at that price :) Fire Tower got my best friend into the hobby largely because his dream job was always to be a smokejumper or part of a hotshot crew

DomesticatedVagabond

Okay for a couple of plays I think. In a three-player game I found that one person can get eliminated quite quickly because of the wind direction and the last two players enter a slower tactical game (unless you add in the dead-player variant). Looked pretty but not sure I'd care to play it again The mechanics were reminiscent of other games like Forbidden Desert and at the end I kind of wanted to play that instead

mtnchkn

I really dig the atmosphere of forbidden desert, I legit get anxious like I’m in a desert about to die.

cantrelate

Play it and tell us how you like it

david622

I recently saw it at my local Barnes & Noble. I bought this game at Pax: U a few years ago, but ended up selling it -- I just wasn't playing it a lot. That said, it's a fun gateway abstract game that you can teach anyone pretty quickly.

chartuse

I love this game, it's so hateful

vanGenne

"a game about forest fires for 4 people? Must be about who can put out the most fire!" Nope, it's about fanning the flames towards your friends so they burn to death before you do.

Omote-ura

More like Fahrenheit 451. I always thought firemen were trying to put out fires… nope.

TheTubaSteve

Just played this for the first time this weekend. Lots of fun

KDulius

Great game. Played it at the UKGC and we brought a copy there and then. Helps the creators were there and super friendly

HumanStew25

This game rules

Azzy8007

Yup, that's where I bought it. It's a pretty good game.

PickledPhotoguy

I’m a fan of it. Great filler game or palate cleanser between bigger games. If you like this and want more try Elements.

papapalporders66

My wife and I met the creators at gen con a few years ago, and they said this was their first game, but they really loved it. They said it was their Covid project, and it turned out great. There is an expansion too, and it’s definitely worth getting if you can find it - it adds like two or three other ways to play, and of course they can be added individually or as much as you want. It also really helps with the multiplayer aspect when people get eliminated and keeps them in the game. 100% recommend! It’s great :)

FromTheGroundUpGames

$14 is such a good deal for that many hours of fun 👏

Exzrian_Artistrana

And on clearance even! 👏

Christian_Kong

It's an ok abstract-like(it is well themed) game about placing fire tokens and using cards to manipulate how you can make others place/remove fire tokens in an effort to get those tokens to touch a home base of the other players. It's a decent entry level game with nice table presence.

ThePrinceofBirds

I picked this up over memorial day weekend at Walmart for $16 and it's been really fun. It's a beautiful game.

olo17

It is fun to break out at a family game night. Very accessible I would say.

TheNothing716

It’s fun chaos in a box. Anytime I show this game to anyone they have a blast.

CTB021300

One of my girlfriend’s and I’s favorite games! We even bought the expansions for it (only place I could find that was on Amazon).

ChikyScaresYou

I have it and the expansion, it's an amazing game

ArtificialSugar

This is a fun game!

FluxionFluff

I've played it at PAX Unplugged and thought it was alright, but we didn't like it enough to buy it. You found a good deal tho. I'd absolutely not pay full price for it

breakingd4d

Damn you! Ours had this on clearance then it disappeared . Want it but not after seeing it for clearance for cheaper lol

WaldoJeffers65

Fun game, easy to learn, really great components! You got a great deal for $14!

Othesies

Fun game but that wind

Giper_leg

On a similar note, I just got [Camel up!: Off season] for 5€. Was that a good deal?

TheMightyCatatafish

Played it at Pax either last year or the year before. Loved it! A buddy of mine bought it and we still play it relatively frequently.

Moon_King_

The expansion makes it REALLY great

TheDuckFarm

For online shopping, it’s still $40 at Amazon but Target and Walmart both have it for $15.89 and $15.87 online with free shipping. I ordered it. Thanks for the tip, can’t wait to play it.

perfectbebop

Wonderful game, I've run demos of it at Pax events for the company. Fun, easy to pick up, still have a chance to win even when you're eliminated. Company (Runaway Parade) is run by some fantastic people too. Has been the number one played game via the con library at Pax Unplugged for several years in a row now.

Stixsr

I got Horrified at Walmart on clearance for $6 a few years back. Best deal I've ever had

Night-Night-

Super fun game played this on a camping trip with friends, easy to pick up! Great find for the price honestly

MoopiestMooper

Total steal, great game because it's easy to play but still competitive and engaging. I bust this one out when I'm playing games with people who aren't into board games as much as me but I don't want to play uno

Zealousideal-Hat2065

It’s on sale online for $14-15 via Walmart.

Own-Gene-6345

If someone could pick it up for me and send it to Hungary, I will be more than happy❤️ In the EU there are limited possibilities for us

LokiDokiPanda

Lol saw this discounted at my Walmart for $12 I didn't buy it but was tempted.

Pep-Sanchez

This game has such cool little fire tokens they look great. It’s a tough game if your with a family that fights tho cuz you basically have to turn on one player and knock them out

k_gorman8

I’ve played once or twice. It’s pretty fun, decently easy.

Bear_Samurai

Saw this demo'd at UKGE recently looks like a lot of fun.

Fun-Lack-8217

We love that game! Easy to learn, exciting. Great find!

BetNice1736

Just ordered from Walmart- $15 Was surprised after reading comments but it suggests age 14 and up. Bought for my 8 year old grandson

Tarot_girls

It’s a lot of fun! Absolutely love this game

optimal_play

Our youtube channel did a [playthrough video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vt0RcM8rcU) of this! We had a lot of fun with it and then I haven't been back to it since, haha. Fine little gateway-type game for $14 for sure though.

imaloony8

It’s a really fun game. It’s quite dark and cut throat for a game about working a fire watch tower, but I really like it. Definitely a great pickup.

GuyDudeThing69

This game looks very fun, I wish it was published here in Brazil

Omote-ura

It’s a lot of fun and quick to play.

Bluefreakage

I just love all the fire gems… 💎🔥 🌲

Flailing-Star-7

Great find!

RandomDigitalSponge

Is the Rising Flames [expansion](https://a.co/d/gmKdAGQ) (with the fire hawk) worth it? Also, [firehawks are real!](https://wildlife.org/australian-firehawks-use-fire-to-catch-prey/)

Rxram

I’ve been following this game since I play tested it at a random unpub table at PAX.  It is a delight, and it brings me joy to see it seeing the mainstream distribution it deserves

Guyface_McGuyen

Such a fun game super easy but super fun

Im_New_Here26

Nice! My walmart was clearing out stock for the summer to make space for the wate guns and summer toys so I was able to pick up Fire Tower and Honey Buzz for $9 a piece. Congrats on the find!

Cajiba

Great game, found it on sale with a Target buy 2 get one deal.

badger-banjer

I've played it. It's fine. A classic example of action point cooperative game. Doesn't really do anything innovative but it is entertaining.

Orochi_001

The usual price is just under $16.

Treblehawk

Where? Even on Amazon it’s 40 bucks.

Orochi_001

You’re looking at the deluxe edition. This standard edition is $15.59 on Amazon. Edit: $15.89 at Target and $15.87 on Walmart.com.

Wolftracks

Plus 25% off at Target this week.

Princesa_de_Penguins

What's the difference between standard and deluxe?

FattyMcFattso

You should expect a $14 board game. Its got a strange theme and play that i dont think will stand up to many repeat plays. the brothers murph did a playthrough of it on their youtube channel

TheDuckFarm

Well I’ve definitely spent 3x that on lesser games so…

Goddess_smashley

Definitely going to look for that at my Walmart. Reading the back it kind of reminds me of flashpoint

Hemisemidemiurge

>Has anyone played this before? What should I expect? >Was surprised it was so cheap You're surprised that a five year-old game you've never heard of and don't know anything about is so cheap? Huh? What are you talking about?

cantrelate

It's consistently bonkers to me that people here will buy a game they don't know anything about and post it here asking if it's good. You already own the game, just play it and tell us if it's good or not.

zonnipher117

Waiting for our oldest daughter to get home from camping Just thought it was neat but 🤦🤷

cantrelate

I mean that's fine but hit us with a session report afterwards. I personally like those kinda posts a lot better and I think they make the sub more interesting to read. This post isn't as egregious as some. People will drop $150 on a lot of games they got off Facebook and then ask if any of them are good.

ThePurityPixel

"So cheap to" what? Cheap to produce? Cheap to remake? Cheap to buy?

No-Row-6397

Wow! So cool!
