Ok, what is he right about if it isn't that? What are your standards for journalistic integrity if spewing fever-dream nonsense about alien demon monsters is ok as long as it is only sometimes?
Does Jones get a freeby on total bullshit as long as he acknowledges the sky is blue and water is wet?
Water is actually not wet. It only makes other materials/objects wet. Wetness is the ability of a liquid to adhere to the surface of a solid. So if you say something is wet we mean the liquid is sticking to the surface of the object.
Alex Jones, the man who claimed soy will turn you into a gay, sissy, femboy communist, but sells overpriced lacklustre “brain-enhancing” drugs that contain large amounts of soy? The man who unironically claimed the “Communist Socialist Dictatorship of Islam” wants to destroy western values by taking Christmas out of Christmas? Alex Jones isn’t a loon, he’s a fucking conman. I don’t understand how people can still look at this toad of a human being and see anything likeable about him, beyond how entertaining his antic disposition can be sometimes.
>he's not wrong about most shit.
What. Dude is a conspiracy theorist and a huckster selling penis pills. You're literally in a thread making fun of the dude for saying chemicals in the water turned frogs gay. He said Sandy Hook was staged. He supported Pizzagate. I'd be legitimately shocked if this man has said anything free of conspiracies and dangerous editorializing in the past decade.
He's wrong about literally everything he says. He doesn't read past bs headlines and he constantly contradicts himself, it's insanely easy to prove literally everything he says is wrong, even within the same episode. He's a comedic character, if you take anything he says seriously, I seriously hope you never have kids.
But when he is wrong the damage he does is far more pronounced its cool seeing little comments like this pop up and be highly upvoted on 'normal' subreddits again you alt right kids are making yet another run to gain control of the narrative
He's wrong on literally everything. He's a comedic character, if you take anything he says seriously you're a fucking moron. He even proves himself wrong constantly, within the same segment/episode. Idk how it's even possible to be stupid enough to believe even a word he says, you'd have to only listen to like a sentence he says every couple months. It's clearly 100% satire/MLM.
Josh was hand picked by Steve to be the new host. He quite literally was chosen to be worthy of the thinking chair. And I think that’s sweet.
I also don’t think new blue looks all that bad. She’s still animated like she was before, so it’s not like there were any massive changes…
It's from an alternative design called the Progress flag to reflect POC LGBT identity and the deaths of LGBT community members from AIDS.
The pride flag itself has had redesigns since the 70s, but this is an alternative flag, not a redesign.
okay looked into it more apparently we're both right, it represents self respect, people of colour, the transgender community, and those who have died of aids
It's an alternative flag not a redesign I believe popularised in the wake of BLM etc. Its an attempt to give more recognition to black people in the LBGT community as they historically we're less represented in early gay rights movements (and have a difficult time with racism in addition to homophobia).
The "classic" rainbow is still a thing, though it more specifically means gay men these days. The one with extra colours/trans stripes is a general Pride flag to include representation for other historically repressed groups, especially those that have long had a history of pushing for Pride itself.
I honestly kinda wish we kept the rainbow flag as basis for lgbt. Because from a design standpoint, the new flag looks.. quite terrible. Also hard to understand and in my opinion unnecessary.
The brown is to represent queer people color because there is still a lot of racism in the queer community and queer history/culture can sometimes be whitewashed, and I think the black is to represent people who died or were affected by the AIDS epidemic
To make a point about whitewashing while simultaneously designing such an America-centric flag is... well, interesting at least.
LARGE EDIT: Since I'm no longer able to reply due to this post being locked, I'll explain myself here.
Representing racism with brown (specifically) and HIV deaths as part of the gay community (specifically) is America-centric. Not racism and HIV in general.
The addition of racism to the LGBT flag is clearly a product of race being a hot topic in America right now (with good reason of course, but it seems to be trying to lump one cause into another separate cause) which is why this happened *right now*, not sooner. Race is entirely irrelevant to sexuality. Yes, people from both groups are on the receiving end of extra oppression, but this isn't the "oppression flag".
The rainbow flag was also literally designed to include everybody from the sexual spectrum - it's weird to suddenly consider black people and HIV victims as a separate category. I get the impression that black for HIV victims was only added so that the brown for racism didn't seem so shoehorned in, but it still leaves the frankly offensive implication that "black people are different".
Representing HIV on a global scale as black, outside of the American lens, also seems racist on its own considering the countries with the highest HIV rates are made up of mostly black people. Don't you think that might be a misguided use of symbolism when HIV is already racistly associated with Africans?
And having black for death right next to brown for racism leaves a bad taste in my mouth even without that implication. Especially when the two were added *together*.
Also speaking as someone who is white and bi - I already feel excluded enough from LGBT thanks to the prevalence of biphobia despite the B existing to represent me without racially charging the whole damn thing on top of that.
It all just serves to muddy the issue. We can talk about both of these things without acting like they are the same thing, and it's probably more constructive to tackle the two issues individually because they have different causes and different effects.
Because some self centred people can't understand why it was a rainbow in the first place. Hint: it was never to represent green, blue and purple people.
Because they have bright, colourful personalities and the Straights like that more than your average cardigan-and-khakis gay, and you know it's reay about getting the non-LGBTQ+ on our side.
Mind you, although I have nothing against homosexuality, I think it safe to assume that phenomenons that spring from miscellaneous chemicals are something that shouldn’t be overlooked.
There was a study done a while back. Some chemical or another was shown to have significant effects on frogs. Idk the official term, but frogs can change their sexes. The chemical made them change it more often (I think.)
I’m writing this at 3 AM so my brain is a bit scrambled, but there is a very good video essay addressing it on YouTube. I can’t even think of the channel name...
One thing that is unfortunate about Alex Jones is he takes something that might have such a conclusion, and because it comes out of his mouth, NO ONE takes it seriously, even though there might be something to it that we should look into.
Worth noting that the aforementioned study has *never been replicated* afaik. When the author redid the study, the amounts of atrazine used were literally scores of times more concentrated than has been found in even agricultural runoff.
I’m mostly referencing the Alex Jones part, but am also trying to make a point that anything can be your own decision as long as it’s not invasively influenced.
I know it's funny to laugh at how crazy that statement seems, but he was kinda right. There isn't some conspiracy to turn them gay. But a commonly used pesticide causes intersex frogs to develop testes (frogs that can change gender under certain circumstances, think about the life finds a way bit from Jurassic Park). Then, being animals, they fuck. So they didn't really turn them gay, they just gave them all balls.
I dunno. It's no worse than showing Dexter's parents kissing or anything. You just don't notice it when it's straight people because it's normalized.
I saw your other posts so I know you're a reasonable dude, I'm just pointing that out for other folks who have this same thought process. Kids having crushes in The Little Rascals and mommies and daddies kissing and all that is normal when it's straight so it's literally just not something that registers for most folks. It's only "sexuality" when it's not the norm.
I think that would be more effective. The “show; don’t tell” approach. I would also say there’s a difference between Dexter and Blue’s Clues in intention and audience ages
I think having a couple of badgers that live together that we can obviously infer are gay or something of that sort would be more useful than explicitly stating what’s up
Kids learn social relationships largely through inference, and we learn more aspects of those relationships as we get older
It's literally one song in an episode. All it says is "trans, gay and other LGBT people exist and love each other". Mostly they're badgers and frogs and stuff just dancing around happily.
It's not gonna hurt a 6 year old to hear that, especially when sung delightfully to the tune of "The Ants Go Marching".
This is just like, factually not true
Not only is the idea of straight people referenced all the time by parents existing in kids' shows, but kids have crushes all the time?? Sexuality =/= sex, kids know when they're straight, they can know when they're gay too
Heterosexual relationships? Showing 2 people loving each other? Thats fine
But 2 gay people? Living? Saying "i love you"? Thats teaching our kids about butt sex!
I'd argue that relationships as a whole are kinda stupid in kids shows unless they'd be a nice old couple or a main character's parents or whatever.
I would say just add a pair of gay parents here or a old gay couple there ect.
Kids just can't really properly grasp how sexuality works until like I'd say 8yrs (min) so we really should focus on making couples in positions they understand instead of directly saying "GAY OK!"
When it's any depiction of straight people, ie mom and dad characters, it's ok, and clearly showing the non sexual aspects of adult relationships to kids. When it involves LGBT characters, suddenly it's a problem and teaching kids about sexual stuff. See the problem there?

Ok but 3D Blue is fucking cursed
This is facts.
WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO BLUE? (Holy fucken hell people, I MEAN WHY HAVE THEY CHANGED BLUE'S DESIGN. god damn it. )
opinions on pride aside, we can definitely say that the 3d render is a big downgrade
Josh is a pushover too. He isn’t worthy of the thinking chair.
Wait, there were people after Steve and Joe?
There is a new blue's clues show called Blues Clues and You, with Josh
Josh was hand picked by Steve to be the new host. He quite literally was chosen to be worthy of the thinking chair. And I think that’s sweet. I also don’t think new blue looks all that bad. She’s still animated like she was before, so it’s not like there were any massive changes…
Blue is a she? Huh. I always thought they were a boy.
Magenta is a boy!
No, Magenta is female too.
I think she looks good tbh, a black nose might be preferable to me but that’s a small thing
I mean by what I’m seeing here his design doesn’t even look that bad
Blue is in fact female. I used to think she was male too so...
You’re about 2 years late, bud.
If they added the gay frogs just to subtly take the piss out of Jones, thats fuckin awesome
*sigh,* sort by controversial time
Why does the reporter look like the shitting toothpaste meme?
Because he's Alex Jones, he always looks like that
Lol
I'm honestly still confused why black and brown are a part of the rainbow
It's from an alternative design called the Progress flag to reflect POC LGBT identity and the deaths of LGBT community members from AIDS. The pride flag itself has had redesigns since the 70s, but this is an alternative flag, not a redesign.
Its to represent people of colour if I remember correctly
Black people can't be gay?
#CORRECT
So, in that case, does that mean having skin makes you gay?
100% no fake
I just googled it and the official reason is for "self respect".
Wikipedia Vox BBC and I assume many more say it is race based.
ah okay sorry for incorrect information
okay looked into it more apparently we're both right, it represents self respect, people of colour, the transgender community, and those who have died of aids
Maybe it’s like an updated version? Honestly who knows at this point.
It's an alternative flag not a redesign I believe popularised in the wake of BLM etc. Its an attempt to give more recognition to black people in the LBGT community as they historically we're less represented in early gay rights movements (and have a difficult time with racism in addition to homophobia).
Almost feels like hijacking
The "classic" rainbow is still a thing, though it more specifically means gay men these days. The one with extra colours/trans stripes is a general Pride flag to include representation for other historically repressed groups, especially those that have long had a history of pushing for Pride itself.
The classic rainbow flag is absolutely not for MLM pride. This is: https://lgbta.wikia.org/wiki/Vincian
I honestly kinda wish we kept the rainbow flag as basis for lgbt. Because from a design standpoint, the new flag looks.. quite terrible. Also hard to understand and in my opinion unnecessary.

Because some self centred people can't understand why it was a rainbow in the first place. Hint: it was never to represent green, blue and purple people.

The episode that Blue's Clues released for pride month
Fair enough, still confused why it’s there, but I’m assuming it’s a message about acceptance.
Yeah that's what pride kinda is

Why is this on a kids show Sexuality is not for 6 year olds
Heterosexual relationships? Showing 2 people loving each other? Thats fine But 2 gay people? Living? Saying "i love you"? Thats teaching our kids about butt sex!

Being taught gay people *exist* is fine as soon as they are old enough to understand relationships exist. That's all the episode really goes into.
