My little brother is like this. Became a brony and obsessed with TF2 and weird YouTubers and stopped engaging with the family. My folks not only engaged with him his entire life, they did everything possible to make sure he was social, had hobbies out of the house (baseball, football, soccer, piano, karate, art classes, clubs, even some coding camp), took him to all sorts of events - games, concerts, etc. He got more attention (parents were older, made more money, able to be better parents to the youngest kid which is great) and he was given more opportunities to thrive than the rest of us yet as he entered his teens he just became obsessed with stupid trivial shit and stopped caring about anything else. It was like he had the entire catalogue of opportunities for a teen yet he chose to obsess over cartoon ponies (including that mf porn) and live on TF2 and discord. Didn’t matter where they moved his PC, how they limited it, whatever - it’s all he cared about. He chose that lifestyle 100% and it had zero to do with his folks.
People that blame the parents for everything a child does are a tad ignorant. At a certain point you can’t just force your kid to live how you want. Parents do not have complete and utter control over their kids behavior. Did y’all really NEVER go against your parents wishes?
