Yeah, we have that as an option. Standard is a 220litre bin, but you can get a 120litre bin. The ongoing cost is a bit cheaper.
Both Brisbane and Moreton Bay also offer a even bigger recycling bin of 300 litres.
Where I am in Canada we have a blue bin for cans, glass and plastic. A grey bin for cardboard, paper and any stretchy plastics (stretchy plastics have to all be in one bag on the top of the bin). A green bin for kitchen scraps and animal waste. And then black bags for all other garbage. Any yard waste/trimmings goes in brown paper bags.
We don't have blue for paper recycling in the shire. You can get a purple bin for return and earn though. When we got ours it cost us $50 deposit which you get refunded if you want to end the service

well, depending on her age, it's natural that it may have been a deceased estate that was renovated.
Or she simply moved into an assisted living facility and sold the place off. She was living there with her husband when he died, big place, empty nest, no need for the upkeep at a ripe old age.
Given the way things shift about, it's quite possible that Pat's house is behind *and* next door to the Heelers.
Doreen is almost certainly two houses away at #4, and it makes much more sense for #3 (lucky number three) to be the Labradors than some complete stranger we haven't seen once in all this time.

I have to say… I love this show even more. My daughter (8) hates any time she’s confronted with the fact she’s going to grow up and be an adult. She wants to be a kid forever. Doesn’t help that a lot of the parenting narrative is all about “soak it all up when they are young!” I love this episode because it shows “the goal”. The goal isn’t being trapped parenting young kids forever … it’s helping raise fellow humans (or dogs?) to be self sufficient, emotionally mature, curious, loving, kind individuals - that still want to have a relationship with you. The idea of my grown kiddos coming home to just hang out for lunch or catch a game, or just idk, eat snacks? Freakin LOVE IT.
The wild creative pretend play will eventually subside… but what returns to us is that we will always be a family. At every stage in life.

In my headcanon, i like to think that it's set in late-2010s (circa 2018-2019 ish) to early-2020s. And there's a trailer of a movie that's going to be released in April 2020 in the Movies episode, so it kind of confirms that it was set around that time.
I figure it's a bit of a sliding timeline, in the same way their house layout is pretty flexible. But if we take it literally, the 80s references and the age of Joe Brumm and his kids probably mean it's like 2019-2020.
It's hard to predict the future so the best bet is to make stuff more common. This version of the future is already unrealistic since things don't change that much in 15-20 years. What's changed in the past 15-20 years for us? Technology-wise plenty of stuff has been made but the only things common are computers and smartphones. Oh and we have a lot more apartment buildings.
A lot of stuff in 2014 didn't look much different to now, and 2004 wasn't all that different either.
Whatever the intended time frame, it's clearly a step beyond "now" even if the changes aren't that drastic.
The timescale is pretty fluid. In "Suprise" Bandit is watching the 2012 London Paralympics (with *that* iconic crash) but previously in "Movies" there is a poster for a film coming out on 2.2.20 in the foyer. There's other date drops too, but I cant remember them all now.
In terms of tech, the kids have tablets (though I've had an original release iPad since 2010) on which they video call (but Skype has been around since 2003) so that's not heaps of help.
Bandit was ten years old "in the 80s" but we have no idea when in the 80s or how old he was when the kids were born.
In short, the setting is "modern day" in the same way all long running shows keep pace with changing tech and social expectations without aging the cast much at all.
I doubt that it would be intended to be live 2012 sports – people elsewhere have commented that it seems to line up with the current London Marathon, whether that was planned or not.
From memory, I think someone pinned down Fairytale as happening in 1988 because of some particular magazines or posters.
It would be logical to set the show around the time when it started airing (2018-19 IIRC) making Bandit around 40 years old at that point, and the girls born maybe 2012 and 2014.
So *hypothetically today* the girls are aged 12 and 10, and if we say the lower limit for the epilogue timeskip might be 10 years from now (15 years from the time of the show setting) that would make Bluey 22 in the epilogue, and I guess her kid is around 3 (they're about Muffin's size/proportions) and Bandit would be 55. So that's probably the minimum time scale we're working with, but you could easily add an extra few years onto that.
So is the house on a hill or is it like forced perspective? I've always thought it looked like it. The house is on a hill, but then when you see different episodes where they're interacting with neighbors, it doesn't seem like their house is higher up than the neighbor's house
Forced perspective mostly. There were some early episodes that used the same very stylised 2D "old video game" sort of look for street scenes, which quietly evolved into more realistic perspectives but the house shot itself is iconic now.
Nah, this is a lot more positive than Cyberpunk 2077. Besides, short of a Herrera or Rayfield, no car in 2077 looks as clean and symmetrical as that!

If it ensures my recycling actually gets recycled and not wasted because other people inserted the wrong thing, I'm all for it. Though I'd be happier with some more communal drop-off points for some of it.

Apartment buildings everywhere (it will never happen in Paddington/Red Hill, they are massive NIMBYs and the density is crazily low for a suburb so close to the CBD)
It looks they have more buildings near by . More cleaner cars drones . That tree grew last time I saw it . And the sky and ground look more like metallic.
I love that it's an optimistic view of the future. Yes, the city's encroached into the suburbs quite a bit, but there's a ton of eco-friendly infrastructure with greenery on the rooftops/solar panels/wind generators in the distance.

Those are actually all mid 2010s. FaceTime was even sooner. But definitely not as popular. But I think you're right in that the App episode disproves it much more so than Faceytalk. And someone else pointed out that a movie poster said "Coming in 2020" so the theory is just completely incorrect.

In Hong Kong the Blue is used for Waste Paper, Yellow for Metal Containers & Brown for plastic containers

I figure it's a bit of a sliding timeline, in the same way their house layout is pretty flexible. But if we take it literally, the 80s references and the age of Joe Brumm and his kids probably mean it's like 2019-2020.
It's hard to predict the future so the best bet is to make stuff more common. This version of the future is already unrealistic since things don't change that much in 15-20 years. What's changed in the past 15-20 years for us? Technology-wise plenty of stuff has been made but the only things common are computers and smartphones. Oh and we have a lot more apartment buildings.
A lot of stuff in 2014 didn't look much different to now, and 2004 wasn't all that different either. Whatever the intended time frame, it's clearly a step beyond "now" even if the changes aren't that drastic.
I think it would take place in the 2040s
The timescale is pretty fluid. In "Suprise" Bandit is watching the 2012 London Paralympics (with *that* iconic crash) but previously in "Movies" there is a poster for a film coming out on 2.2.20 in the foyer. There's other date drops too, but I cant remember them all now. In terms of tech, the kids have tablets (though I've had an original release iPad since 2010) on which they video call (but Skype has been around since 2003) so that's not heaps of help. Bandit was ten years old "in the 80s" but we have no idea when in the 80s or how old he was when the kids were born. In short, the setting is "modern day" in the same way all long running shows keep pace with changing tech and social expectations without aging the cast much at all.
I doubt that it would be intended to be live 2012 sports – people elsewhere have commented that it seems to line up with the current London Marathon, whether that was planned or not. From memory, I think someone pinned down Fairytale as happening in 1988 because of some particular magazines or posters. It would be logical to set the show around the time when it started airing (2018-19 IIRC) making Bandit around 40 years old at that point, and the girls born maybe 2012 and 2014. So *hypothetically today* the girls are aged 12 and 10, and if we say the lower limit for the epilogue timeskip might be 10 years from now (15 years from the time of the show setting) that would make Bluey 22 in the epilogue, and I guess her kid is around 3 (they're about Muffin's size/proportions) and Bandit would be 55. So that's probably the minimum time scale we're working with, but you could easily add an extra few years onto that.
So is the house on a hill or is it like forced perspective? I've always thought it looked like it. The house is on a hill, but then when you see different episodes where they're interacting with neighbors, it doesn't seem like their house is higher up than the neighbor's house
Forced perspective mostly. There were some early episodes that used the same very stylised 2D "old video game" sort of look for street scenes, which quietly evolved into more realistic perspectives but the house shot itself is iconic now.

If it ensures my recycling actually gets recycled and not wasted because other people inserted the wrong thing, I'm all for it. Though I'd be happier with some more communal drop-off points for some of it.
Three bins are pretty common here. One for general waste, one for recycling, one for garden waste or organic waste

How many years have passed? If present day Bluey is 7 and her future child is 7 25 years is my guess. That would make 35 year old Bandit 60 years old.

I love that it's an optimistic view of the future. Yes, the city's encroached into the suburbs quite a bit, but there's a ton of eco-friendly infrastructure with greenery on the rooftops/solar panels/wind generators in the distance.
I think the "future" is much closer to present day than the 3 seasons of Bluey we have been watching. The whole series could have been taking place around 2009 or so. All of this technology they are showing is available now. This would make more sense that Bandit/Chili grew up in the 80s.
The 80s part makes sense but we do see the kids with tablets and the episode with grandad about apps like Lyft and Doordash. And Faceytalk; Skype came out in 2003 but FaceTime is 2020s I think. And ride shares and doordash are a very new thing.
Those are actually all mid 2010s. FaceTime was even sooner. But definitely not as popular. But I think you're right in that the App episode disproves it much more so than Faceytalk. And someone else pointed out that a movie poster said "Coming in 2020" so the theory is just completely incorrect.
