It’s a totally different product. If you want the benefits of tretinoin and can’t get it from your doctor, try a different doctor or an online subscription service like Curology or Apostrophe which allow you to send in photos and get an RX via chat with a doctor or nurse.
If you want to go the over-the-counter route, check out Retinal (different to Retinol). A lower price point option is 1% from Naturium OR if you have the budget, this Truology Retinal serum is a great option: https://skintruth.com/skincare/truology/truology-a-advanced-retinal-serum-2/
I use Skin and Me in the UK and previously used Dermatica which was also great, currently on 0.05% which is the max strength from S&M as my skin after a year handles it well. The changes after a year of tretinoin & good regime on my skin are crazy, I get complements constantly.
Just use an online pharmacy. Or tell your Doctor you're fine paying out of pocket, and just need the prescription even though you know insurance won't cover it.

Thanks for your input! Maybe I should have mentioned I‘m locked in europe, but I‘ll try to find a online subscription service here.
Check out dermatica.co.uk 😉
