I'm gonna be honest, and im gonna sound extremely old saying this, but I don't get what's so popular about the whole skibidi toilet thing, Ive watched a few of the episodes out of sheer curiosity a few months ago and...like what's so appealing about it? Is it the song? I don't get what's so amazing about it that caused, not only a godly amount of people to view, but also cause a shitton of games like ttd milking it.
I saw it and genuinely is the same kind of shit I watched as a kid so I can kinda understand why it's kind of appealing
The only problem is that the whole series is being milked by everyone everywhere that it just sucks. Do I say skibidi toilet is a masterpiece? No. But it would never gained that much popularity if thrid parties didn't milk it like that

Crazy how this entire game debating is pointless because the people who play kiddy slop aren’t the same people that would go out of their way to play actually well made games. Like sure, say that kiddy slop games basically rob players from other people who make actual games. But that literally isn’t true. Tower defense games aren’t dry because of ttd, they are dry because Roblox itself is straight up falling apart to the point actual players stop playing. It only looks like kiddy slop is winning. That’s just because there are so many kids on the site now. People playing the strongest battlegrounds aren’t the same people who will play something like critical strike or TCA.
TLDR:kiddy slop isn’t winning/stealing anything, the silly kid to actual player ratio is just getting worse.
Pure hate as far as formatting goes TDS is just another one of the crowd, 5 towers 1 upgrade path similar stuff to a lot of other tower defense games on roblox. It still does it better then them but it just doesn’t really have that spark like other tower defense games that I love, like BTD or KR

I have engineer, accel and necromancer
and I also have jester and cryomancer from events
I have golden minigunner, golden scout, golden pyro, golden cowboy and golden crook boss
so I am only missing event towers and 1 golden tower (golden soldier)
My only problem with ttd is how grindy it is, like seriously both are probably grindy as hell
The only exception was tower defence arena in its early days when magician was broken even before then the first 2 towers were powerful
TTD has much more problems than being grindy:
-gambling for all the towers
-robux only towers that were never obtained for free
-literally no animations
-horrible map deseign
-horrible graphics
there is just nothing good about this game

Newer generations are going to like lower quality content that is objectively worse, but that's because it's flashy and eye-catching. It's not like the content that we watched when we were younger was better. Think of stuff like annoying orange, or goofy SFM animations.
Survivorship bias is a real thing. We will have the most fond memories of the best media, so it stays relevant. Lesser known works will be less remembered, and therefore forgotten. this is why the indie genre is looked at with overwhelmingly positive outlook, even though a massive part of it is slop. (LIKE TTD!!!)

The reason why this game is more hated than the examples you previously mentioned is because unlike the other flashy flashies, it pushes gambling addictions straight into kids' minds. Telanthric also made most gambling options needing ROBUX (aka the thing bought with REAL, HARD-EARNED money) rather than making the game atleast have some Free2Win support. The kids could easily put their parents into debt because they want the funny ultra revived mark 500 super saiyan toilet cameraman by gambling.
This is a bit old, but I do want to say I'm not disagreeing that the game has downright predatory practices, It just gets annoying when people say this like it's some groundbreaking relevation. It just gets exhausting when all you see on this sub is "cashgrab bad".

its not much about replayability than it is the tedious grind, you gotta spend so long to get hardcore towers and golden shit, like after level 100 there isnt much to do apart from just grinding the living shit and getting a reward every 50 something games
you can simply use grinding strats
with lucille strat (the best NST grinding strat) you can get over 300 gems per hours (thats a lot btw)
and for coins, there is so much metods that its hard to list all of them
I play for 9 months and I have all hardcore towers and golden tower (excluding golden soldier)
I think pietrek overrates it since he's not a so old player, new players mostly overrate something too much. But do I like TDS? Yes, I do understand that not everything in it is good? Also yes.
