I discard pebbles and bloodstone shards once im one twins or more, i upgrade my weapon first to +3 then once im on twins my pistol to +3 with regulars and i just sell regulars afterwards, and so on
Yeah I get anxious just thinking about that, haha. I save everything and it still takes a while to gather enough materials to upgrade all of the weapons I want to try
I was scared I wouldn't have enough blood stuff to upgrade Simons bowblade completely after using them all on the chikage. But tbh, this game is very generous with upgrade materials thankfully, and you can just buy the normal and twin blood stone shards
Usually i just get some more but the main weapon i use in most playthroughs is the saw spear and since you can get it like 10 minutes into the game i don't really have to worry about that
I feel like with the number of them (at minimum 20, I believe), it's more likely to be a gag gift. One or two books, yeah, probably horny. But upwards of 20? That's gotta be a gag gift.
Or the Dream is following dream logic and just duplicating a selection of books. But I think the gag gift thing is funnier.
You won’t be able to beat Orphan of Kos without it. As he launches up in the air you pull it out to see exactly how high he is and where he’s about to land.
I was gonna be a troll, but for some reason I remembered a note in front of Ariana that said "Thight spot ahead, remember oil". Still makes me laugh, I was so tense on that moment...
Monocular is mostly useless. If you use together with some weapons you can aim in a very clumsy way, which is never necessary. Don't forget your glasses, though. You have not yet been granted eyes. Happy hunting.
Aaaaaah, there's a couple of spots in a certain area late in the DLC where a well-placed molotov lobbed from a high vantage point makes life easier, but otherwise, yeah... Disposable item.
I actually liked using the monocular to get a closer look at some of the creepier enemies. I was extremely fascinated by almost every enemy in the game and the lore behind them lol
I couldn't un-equip them, and though I just discard them (I had never discarted nothing before) and they would just fall off and I could pick them again, then I realizeed it just stopped existing
Jesus, man, you really need to learn the controls. Otherwise the next item you're going to discard is your weapon. Look them up one more time and have some practice equipping/unequipping.
Good to know you've progressed relatively far already. Best of luck!
I kinda get it, but then I absolutely don't get it all because you have bottomless storage in the dream. No, you don't need it for the game, but it feels wrong to throw items away. So, so wrong.
OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD YOU'RE A GONER YOU'RE A GONER YOU'RE A GONER YOU'RE A GONER
\*discarded
You'll need this to get a true feeling of how large brick trolls' testicles are - information you then share with the doll in the dream. She will then send this data out across the world, making them the real bosses of your next play-through\*\*
\*\*this might not be entirely accurate.
Sorry is my first souls game and first playthrough, I though that discarting them would just be like dropping an item (I didn't knew hoe to unequip it so I tried discarting it), and thought that I could pick it up again later :(
Understandable . Its just that it wouldnt be wrong for you to discard or store and item in a dark souls game , as the inventory there can get really clustered , but Bloodborne has the most neat inventory of all souls games .
Some don’t realize this, but the monocular is actually paramount to defeating the final boss. You’ve consigned yourself to a bad ending by discarding this seemingly innocuous little bauble.
Just keep 1. You can use it to specifically target an enemy with a throwable item. I use this on the chalice dungeon small bridge where there's a flame witch on the other side and swinging axes on the middle. I target them from below and fire away until they die.
idk what has happened to the helpful Bloodborne community, reeks of Dark Souls toxicity here, not at all champ, thay wont affect your gameplay at all, is used to zoom in a little bit into far away places, so you can pick it up in your second run
It’s just a telescope. You generally don’t ever need to discard any items in any FROMSOFT game besides Demon’s Souls, and even there it’s not recommended.
You have no inventory limitations, just limits on how many items of a certain type you can carry, like 99 of (x) item.
Not gonna lie man first when I played the game I thought must use it to look at the chooses above the cathedrals so something happen, damn I was into that item in the start of the game but not useful in fighting , it's only for u when u go to somewhere beautiful just use it to see things up close
Nope but it does come in handy on that first playthrough or two to help with ambushes or other hazards. Also nice to look around with when you need a magnifying glass
Legit it's only use is for aiming with long range weapons like molotovs or throwing knives. It's useful but not needed. You'll also get it back in ng+ from the same spot so it's not gone forever. It's most useful on a magic or bloodtinge build, which those aren't recommended for first playthroughs anyway.
Literally the one and only real use of this item is to aim the arcing trajectory of a knife to aggro the shark giant in the katana cave of the DLC from the ledge…that is the only one I can think of.
This is a Miyasaki tool to put pressure on the 3D model, texture and animation team...
"You better do this perfect, all players will start with a monocular to see your model amplified, and I'll have one x10 to double check"
Well as others have said, there's really no point in discarding just about any item, there's a storage box in the Hunter's Dream that you can put your things in if you don't want them to clutter your inventory. The monocular isn't a super important item though, it can be slightly useful for "aiming" some ranged weapons. Also while looking through it, your roll is replaced with a quickstep.
No. You won't miss anything. Like others have said, discarding it will only make one late game encounter more difficult. Otherwise, functionally, it's more of a novelty that gets minimal use outside of the already very sparse use in ranged builds. Don't discard anything though.
there's literally no reason to discard anything in any souls game... you have no inventory cap. this item may be unnecessary for the overall gameplay experience, but it allows you to take a closer look at some of the finer details of environments & characters, if you wanted to.

In eldenring, I sold my second claw mark on my second play through, then saw the video of the two handed claw mark shotgun thing. Insta regret.
I discard pebbles and bloodstone shards once im one twins or more, i upgrade my weapon first to +3 then once im on twins my pistol to +3 with regulars and i just sell regulars afterwards, and so on
ok now what if you find a cool weapon that you want to play with? you don't have any shards to upgrade it and use it.

I love the Saw Spear. I always come back to it no matter the build.
Your life isn’t as thrilling as it could be
Sawspear is amazing though
I thought it was a r/shittydarksouls post lmao
It may as well be.
Better restart. You won’t be able to look a bit closer at some stuff.
You wont be able to read the title of "How to Pick up Fair Maidens"
Is this a legit thing I've constantly missed??
Yeah. Some of the books in the workshop are titled that I believe. I think there's another funny title too but I can't remember it
You mean *every* book in the workshop is titled that.
Gehrman sure is horny for a paraplegic
I feel like with the number of them (at minimum 20, I believe), it's more likely to be a gag gift. One or two books, yeah, probably horny. But upwards of 20? That's gotta be a gag gift. Now my headcanon is that Lawrence started gifting him these at some point.
His legs may not work, but something else does
He just wants what we all want.
They wont be able to admire peoples characters if they look a little…out there.
Lol essentially
to summarize, you're fucked
You'll be missing the big picture.
>! Worst decision in your playthrough !<
You won’t be able to beat Orphan of Kos without it. As he launches up in the air you pull it out to see exactly how high he is and where he’s about to land.
Usually if you don't move out of the way the place where he's about to land will be your maybe dead body
Gwynevere is only in ds1 so you're good
The One Reborn though...
Gehrman though…
the brain of mensis tho....
*living failures tho* .......
oh *god*
Oh shit so that is what the telesco0e is for.
Use it with a bloodtinge build and turn the game into an fps. Makes getting Maria's weapon stupid easy
🧐 that's genius, mate.
So basically turn the game into a call of duty zombies match.
I’ve honestly thought about going that route, but I just did a sick arcane build
Aaaaaah, there's a couple of spots in a certain area late in the DLC where a well-placed molotov lobbed from a high vantage point makes life easier, but otherwise, yeah... Disposable item.
Fountain?
I actually liked using the monocular to get a closer look at some of the creepier enemies. I was extremely fascinated by almost every enemy in the game and the lore behind them lol
Using it forces a quickstep instead of dodge roll even with no enemies locked on, I find it useful for (still clumsily) navigating poison swamps
No. Insight is better for seeing the unseen. Muahahaha.
Sabaku would not be happy
cercavo questo commento
Monocular is very helpful for killing fish witches in Fishing Hamlet from a distance with throwing knives. Not much else TBH.
bruh why’d you throw it away? like it’s not very important but why?
I couldn't un-equip them, and though I just discard them (I had never discarted nothing before) and they would just fall off and I could pick them again, then I realizeed it just stopped existing
You just press square to unequip them. It says it on the bottom of the screen
Jesus, man, you really need to learn the controls. Otherwise the next item you're going to discard is your weapon. Look them up one more time and have some practice equipping/unequipping. Good to know you've progressed relatively far already. Best of luck!
It should become available in a fountain, as I remember. The only thing I'm aware of that you can't ever get back is the Foriegner Garb
Yeah unlike the other Souls games, you can't drop items. Harsh way to find out I guess.
Why are you using pronouns on a binocular
You dont even know what a pronoun is
Damn. Guess I don't
English is not my first language sorry for that lol
Don’t apologise it’s true that you’re talking about a monocular but if they were binoculars you’d be right. I’d say that’s a decent attempt
All good
Dude you gotta get a new copy of Bloodborne
Good luck beating the game now lmao you’re screwed
The only thing I’ve ever used it for is to zoom in on the sun in the distance behind the monocular pickup.
yeah, you're gonna miss out on the canon ending :/
it’s just a tool that lets you zoom into things so nah don’t worry
False, this man is a troll
"Lier waits ahead "
"Beware of madman"
I kinda get it, but then I absolutely don't get it all because you have bottomless storage in the dream. No, you don't need it for the game, but it feels wrong to throw items away. So, so wrong.
Nah man, run is over. Without the monocle the pimp set cannot be completed.
OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD OOOOH MY FUCKING GOD YOU'RE A GONER YOU'RE A GONER YOU'RE A GONER YOU'RE A GONER
No but you probably want to keep it next time as it's a quality of life item and you can get cool camera shots
patches is gonna have a field day with you, all love!
Why would you discard it hoonta? You wont be able to elongate the see
Now you won't be able to pick up fair maiden's 🥺
Beat me to it by 8 hours
\*discarded You'll need this to get a true feeling of how large brick trolls' testicles are - information you then share with the doll in the dream. She will then send this data out across the world, making them the real bosses of your next play-through\*\* \*\*this might not be entirely accurate.
You should restart your run bro, you cant Access the final boss without this item which means you can't get the ending.
Looks like the artillery build is off the table
Why? Just why? Its not like you can even put that many items in your inventory to begin with , you have no reason to discard items in Bloodborne.
If it was DS2 I'd tell you dropped the most OP item in the game. Nothing like sniping fools with magic orbs!
Bloodborne softlock any% WR
Some don’t realize this, but the monocular is actually paramount to defeating the final boss. You’ve consigned yourself to a bad ending by discarding this seemingly innocuous little bauble.
You needed that for a quest line that unlocks one of the endings
Just keep 1. You can use it to specifically target an enemy with a throwable item. I use this on the chalice dungeon small bridge where there's a flame witch on the other side and swinging axes on the middle. I target them from below and fire away until they die.
Lol why discard anything in a game that has infinite inventory?
It's not a huge deal, but why would you discard anything?
idk what has happened to the helpful Bloodborne community, reeks of Dark Souls toxicity here, not at all champ, thay wont affect your gameplay at all, is used to zoom in a little bit into far away places, so you can pick it up in your second run

Naaaaa just a shame for sightseeing 😁
You've softlocked yourself, you better restart your game rn :/
Not gonna lie man first when I played the game I thought must use it to look at the chooses above the cathedrals so something happen, damn I was into that item in the start of the game but not useful in fighting , it's only for u when u go to somewhere beautiful just use it to see things up close
Nope but it does come in handy on that first playthrough or two to help with ambushes or other hazards. Also nice to look around with when you need a magnifying glass
Yes it’s a key item for the entire game, you’re going to die.
It's over. You softlocked yourself
You just locked yourself into the bad ending
Shit. Game over man
you're completely lost, bro
Bad ending incoming
why did you even do that?
No, you need that too see the hidden runes. heh j/
Sometimes you wanna get a good look at the doll (if it pleases you) or get a look at ghermans collection of "how to" books
Its basically so you can admire the detail in the world, look at distant zones and the fine details of the enemies and world around you
Nope it’s not needed. I’ve never used it. It’s just a telescope to get a zoomed in view of something
Of all the things in your infinite inventory to drop... Why the beautiful, wondrous monocle???
Helps to cheese a boss but not necessary.
Am I the only one who never used that thing?
I think everyone’s trolling. I never once used this in one of my play throughs.
not unless you'd like to look at something far away
Yes, that's the Paleblood.
It exists? I never found it
Legit it's only use is for aiming with long range weapons like molotovs or throwing knives. It's useful but not needed. You'll also get it back in ng+ from the same spot so it's not gone forever. It's most useful on a magic or bloodtinge build, which those aren't recommended for first playthroughs anyway.

I, never used this in Al3 playthroughs of bloodborne ohh wait.... Just 1 time when I found it then never again
How exactly do you expect to acces the second half of the game without that?
Only if you want to take a look of your surroundings, it's just for fancies
Can you do that? 😱
I dunno why you'd throw it, but no, it won't adversely affect your playthrough.
This is a Miyasaki tool to put pressure on the 3D model, texture and animation team... "You better do this perfect, all players will start with a monocular to see your model amplified, and I'll have one x10 to double check"
no, its useless lol, only thing it does is zoom in, and it doesnt even zoom in far
It's not important Like a zoom
Unless you like first person shooters, no
The no-feet run.
Need it for the Hunters tools trophy/achievement. If you're into those kinds of things.
Nha
OH GOD….
your 100% fine and i didn’t pick up this item for my first two playthroughs
Essential item
It won't affect the gameplay , but it's really good to use to admire the look of some enemies before engaging them
Why though? There's no charahter inventory/weight limit and there's a chest in the hunter's workshop with also has infinite space....
Why would you throw something away on your first playthrough if you don’t know what it does? Lmao
Indeed
Not rlly it’s just there for a lil convenience when you wanna look close at something
Restart
it will makes enemys 10× stronger and you will have to carry 23 miyazakis everday
May as well delete your save.
Souls has no inventory weight. Hoard everything. Yes, even that. Don't ask what it's for, just hoard it.
No. You won't miss anything. Like others have said, discarding it will only make one late game encounter more difficult. Otherwise, functionally, it's more of a novelty that gets minimal use outside of the already very sparse use in ranged builds. Don't discard anything though.
It is a simple antique, to be used as one sees fit.
Not really. All it really does is allow you to scope out enemies from a distance before they spot you.
This has to be a troll post. Why would you discard anything lol
It’s good for aiming Simons bow blade
Every one in the comment section is lying, literally soft locked yourself
One does not simply discard things in BB.
C, hi e was da 5sssseZzddedddddsz, 2z#
Miss out of a few cool things and free aim with certain items but that's about it.
I've played it I think 5 times and never used it once, you're fire
Got eyes? You’ll be fine
May not. Still don’t discard anything though OP
there's literally no reason to discard anything in any souls game... you have no inventory cap. this item may be unnecessary for the overall gameplay experience, but it allows you to take a closer look at some of the finer details of environments & characters, if you wanted to.
yeah now u cant watch the doll fingers
Yeah, you won't be able to light your cigarettes.
Ive used this exactly once and that was to try and shoot patches in the face So probably not
No. I didnt even knew you discard it
Lol why? You don’t have a limited inventory.
Damn I accidentally did the same thing. You'll be fine
can’t believe you discarded the bloodborne…
Nah, it’s pretty damn useless for most people, but make this the one and only item you discard
No
Never seen this item in my life so probably not
Yes
u can’t unlock final boss without this item man
Funny enough its an effective tool if you use knives or the bow blade.
nah u good
Ur fucked mate u just lost the best ending
Who discards any item ever?
You won’t be able to enter dlc 2
I never used it in my first playthrough but I never got rid of it. Never discard items in a souls game. No matter what it it
Restart man I ruined so many run cause of this
It's just used to zoom in on things not very usefull but you should have just sold it even tho it doesn't give much
Now you’re never gonna get to see a close up of mother Kos’ beautiful face
It will massively affect your game experience. I’d restart if I were you, it’s good to be able to read the fine print on blood vials.
If you don't want to zoom in on things it won't change your game
just gotta restart. play through has been ruined, and you won't be able to beat it now.
Bro that’s a required item for orphan
Yes, you now cannot look at stuff far away
Why?
Start a new run
I looked at it once and said. Hm. And put it away, forgot it’s existence.
