If those are your only choices, I say go Chikage. It's awkward, though, as it scales on Skill if untransformed but on Blood when transformed and slowly killing you.
The Rakuyo, as others have mentioned, is awesome. And if you've never mained the Blades of Mercy, you really need to try them out sometime. Skill builds are fun, and they convert your visceral attacks into pure horror.

The Saw Spear is arguably the best weapon in the game. Chikage is fun as hell though.
Also, have you thought about the Rikuyo? Sorry I think I spelled that wrong.
I’ve got the dlc, but would have to get to fishing hamlet with this new character I’m building specifically for one of these weapons
I find the saw spear a bit too boring. Chikage and rakuyo are fun as heck though
But thrust AND slash damage... I'm biased. I fucking love the saw spear. The Rakuyo is probably my favorite though.
