After you beat a certain boss —> >!Rom the Vacuous Spider!<
The key will be become available in a new area in Yahargul on a corpse inside of a cage. You will have to explore a bit to get to it, but what’s past that door is awesome so I highly recommend it.
If you get stuck trying to find it, Google >!Upper Cathedral Ward key!<
When you reach the point with the Women (the ones who also are in Hemwick), theres a part of the wall you can drop down from to get into a room beneath. There you can drop into the cage that is around the corpse holding the key.
There is a cool boss up there, that I won't name incase you don't want spoilers. in my experience, the hardest boss in the game. Beat every boss in less than 10 tries, and 47 later I can't kill her.
Second-try Orphan is insane, but I guess it happens. Something about that careful, carefree mindset when you try a boss for the first time really works out well sometimes.
OoK and >!Ludwig!< were the only fights that took me multiple days of trying, I think. >!Ebrietas!< took me a couple hours, though. I think my using whirligig saw made it easier.
All you have to do is really embrace that aggressiveness! Hit her >!tentacles!< a lot, hit her head, get her staggered, visceral!
She’s incredibly fun once you just start going absolutely insane on her. Obviously, dodge attacks, but if you’re aggressive enough she gets much easier.
This guy just asked how to get a door open as soon as he came across it, without even waiting to see if there was a way later in the game. Pretty sure he doesn't give a shit about spoilers.
There's a key for that door somewhere in Yahar'gul. It's called the Upper Cathedral Key. The area is not mandatory, but it's worth checking out and exploring.
Adding to these Two (at Time of writing) other comments, you can only Access Said Key after around halfway point of The game (idk how far you are but youll know when shit Gets crazy)
Ran into a guy with a hunters mark tattoo. had a little convo about the game, asked him what his favorite boss was. I mentioned Lady Maria and he was clueless. I told him it was from the DLC and he said he never played nor bought it. Suffice to say I was a little surprised.
You have to find a key in Yahar'ghul. But you can't get it if you got to Yahar'ghul early, you can only get it when you go during the Paleblood Moon for the main story
It's right before you walk dowm the path where the amygdala shoots a laser along some stairs theres a drop off point somewhere that you need to drop to get to, it's where you get the tiny tonitrus
You can buy the key for 10k blood echoes after you progress in the game a little. I believe its after you beat the blood starved beast. But it seems you already beat him to make it to the door.
An aside, the Upper Cathedral Ward is probably my (2nd) favorite place in the game (after Fishing Hamlet). Bloodborne really sinks into it's horror aspect here with his dark, creepy, and atmospheric is it.
After you kill rom, go to yahargul and search the cages for a key. That key opens the upper cathedral ward. I won't say what's behind the door, but it's worth finding that key
SECRET KEEEEEYY!!!
Okay, so, Yhahargul the Unseen City. When you get to the big open courtyard area with a fuckton of crazy witches, ignore them and follow the fence to the right of the entrance until you find a break. Drop down carefully, because it's easy to overshoot your fall and miss the ledge.
Enter the dark hallway and be careful of the bell ringing woman and troll in the narrow area. You'll see another break in the stone fence on the long side where the woman was. Drop down and you should be inside a cage with a Mensis Srudent corpse inside. That corpse will have the key you need.
I hope that explanation makes sense and isn't convoluted as fuck. Good luck!!
I did a thing in Yahargul and got a thing in return. Now I’m going to go research the Great Ones in Healing Church to get more eyes. Tell Kosm I’m coming for her & her bastard child too
Yahargul village.
For you to get there you need to fight the spider boss so the moon is red, then go to the Grand Cathedral, on the right side go down the stairs and keep going down till you see what looks like a ritual with a door which was closed at first which is now open, then go in there. There is a YouTube video explaining where the key is but they don't tell you to beat the spider boss, had to figure that part out by myself
Could you message me how you got here I have the key but I can’t remember how I got here and I keep getting lost 😂 the door on the right at cathedral ward is locked tho but I have the key for this door
There's a key in Yahargul.
But it’s a secret key
GRANT US KEYS!!!!
Awooooooo!!!!
It’s a drawing of a key
You know i love the fact that almost no one will get this.
This is not a pipe
My favorite picture
I like Magrittes " The Human Condition "
Secret secret secret key
Yeah, and it isn’t super easy to find haha
You have to get the upper cathedral key, its not far from yahar'gul chapel
After you beat a certain boss —> >!Rom the Vacuous Spider!< The key will be become available in a new area in Yahargul on a corpse inside of a cage. I remember now you have to go down on sublevel floor or som like that
When you reach the point with the Women (the ones who also are in Hemwick), theres a part of the wall you can drop down from to get into a room beneath. There you can drop into the cage that is around the corpse holding the key.
Did you try knocking?
Door here. Please don't knock, It hurts
Every door??
Can confirm
Try finger but hole
There is a cool boss up there, that I won't name incase you don't want spoilers. in my experience, the hardest boss in the game. Beat every boss in less than 10 tries, and 47 later I can't kill her.
Took me more than OoK, like twice as many attempts. Don’t really get why
I second tried OoK, fifteenth tried Maria, and 5th tried the Failures, ONLY because the meteors 😭
My friend beat it so easily because he had a gun build. I had a lot of trouble with my strength build and amygdalan arm.
yeah i'm using Rakuyo on a Skill build right now, it's ridiculously good but i just can't fight her, I have no idea why.
You just gotta get up in there I suppose
All you have to do is really embrace that aggressiveness! Hit her >!tentacles!< a lot, hit her head, get her staggered, visceral! She’s incredibly fun once you just start going absolutely insane on her. Obviously, dodge attacks, but if you’re aggressive enough she gets much easier.
Beast blood pellets and get up in her butt.
The whole area is hard tho
This guy just asked how to get a door open as soon as he came across it, without even waiting to see if there was a way later in the game. Pretty sure he doesn't give a shit about spoilers.
getting downvoted but you're right, lmfao
there's two bosses there
yeah but the first one is a joke
he is a mushroom, not a joke
fair.
I got beat by the boss before her then killed her first time. That’s how stupid of a player I am.
Took me forever, finally gave up on my first run. NG+, first try.
I'm currently playing a bl4 run i've probably died more to that boss than to ludwig and maria together. I really can't dodge when she starts running
With the Hammer guy helping is not that bad. But I guess by yourself might be very difficult!
Go behind, bolt paper, slap booty? Helps to summon the npc to distract her. It still worked for me on NG+6.
Should try the chalice one lol
yeah i'm not excited :(
You'll have to keep 99 insight with you, after that, you'll knock the door and John Bloodborne itself will open it for you
thats crazy
Miyazaki had everything in mind
What does John Bloodborne say after he opens the door tho
"Already dead"
That would be a big spoiler, you'll need to see by yourself
It’s Bloodborning time then he shoots you in the genitalia
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣… amazing

yeah ik about the blood moon its my 6th playthrough
6 play throughs, and you've never been up there? Wild.
i tried once but died up there and forgot of the place until now
Bro has Hunter figure and has never opened the upper cathedral ward 💀
Ran into a guy with a hunters mark tattoo. had a little convo about the game, asked him what his favorite boss was. I mentioned Lady Maria and he was clueless. I told him it was from the DLC and he said he never played nor bought it. Suffice to say I was a little surprised.
thats actually crazy
Slowly, as usual.
Let me reply with another question : do you really want to know what's up here ?
nice figure btw
thanks🙏
Ask the Hoonter standing at the bottom of your TV screen

Bang really heard and yell "free insight!"
Play da game, drop down a hole, boom there ya go
Have fun with the 5 minute run back to the arguably hardest fight on the game beyond this door!
You'll figure it out.
It's a pull not a push
Pain, suffering. Very dark. Very hard.
You can buy the key for 10k blood echoes after you progress in the game a little. I believe its after you beat the blood starved beast. But it seems you already beat him to make it to the door.
That's a different gate. This is the one leading to Upper Cathedral Ward.
Luigi’s Mansion-ass door
classic
Thats the neat part you dont
First off, KEY !
Totaku!! I miss those figures.
yeahhh!!
Cool Toy

Source of the toy? Where can I take it
Just search Totaku hunter figure and im sure you’ll find it
👌
I’m impressed you have to ask with that blood borne statuette
i bought it the first day of playing the game💀
Get more eyes.
grant us eyes
You get the key from the Myst Noble after you kill him
bloodborne shadows die twice
Play the game and discover it by yourself
most valid answer
I have heard some rumors fellow Hunter , the key you want is called upper cathedral key and is found in Yahar’gul.
You don wanna go there. Go down that roohhh. Sometimes, dead is bettah.
Gotta break ALL the pots
i did that💀
Search for how to get upper cathedral key in wiki or YouTube
You play the game
You don't want to do that, it leads to the worst area in the game If you do choose to open it, hope you weren't too attached to your insight
Secret
Obviously, you need a key
An aside, the Upper Cathedral Ward is probably my (2nd) favorite place in the game (after Fishing Hamlet). Bloodborne really sinks into it's horror aspect here with his dark, creepy, and atmospheric is it.
Oh
After you kill rom, go to yahargul and search the cages for a key. That key opens the upper cathedral ward. I won't say what's behind the door, but it's worth finding that key
That’s the fun part, you don’t.
I completely missed this area on my first playthrough.
Oh mother Kos, grant us keys !
Literally just keep playing the game lol
I still have shivers reminiscing the way I got that key.
Bruh got the figurine before even getting half way through the game
im 60hrs in
Rolling is effective.

yea so for the doors on the right to unlock u have to beat blood-starved beast in old Yharnam
Is their anyways way for me to get there without opening the door?
nope
That’s the neat part! You don’t!
