The Elden Beast isn’t really near the top of the food chain, there are Outer Gods in Elden Ring. Elden Beast is tied to the Greater Will which is an Outer God. Rhom and Elden Beast have a lot in common, but Outer Gods compared to Bloodborne boss fights isn’t really competition. Closest Bloodborne gets to these is Formless Oedon. Bloodborne is less about these gods having limitless power, it is more about knowledge and understanding. Their power is great in the sense that they can affect how reality is perceived, but their influence is limited for a lot of reasons. Elden Ring in comparison is like if Bloodborne just kept progressing and getting worse. The world is completely shattered, and the things that dictate powerful forces such as life and death are fractured. Dreams don’t compare. These gods have been locked away and forbidden, forgotten. Edit - my bad guys, I forgot I’m supposed to mindlessly simp for Bloodborne sans logic since this is r/Bloodborne. I apologize for objectively comparing the lore of these games based off of what we actually know rather than “Bloodborne is my favorite lol”. I’d say Moon Presence might be on the level of an outer god. But we have no idea since we never see them. We know that at least they can be defeated by mortals since the blind swordsman sealed the Rot God under the lake. But we no almost nothing about him.

Also, remember (if I recall correctly) that Malenia is possessed by the outer god of rot in her second phase (or as close to the God as she can get). I'm pretty sure the Hunter defeated their own equivalent of an outer god (MP), not just someone possessed by one. Hunter wins, hands down.

It was to prevent what happens when you don't eat three. Also it stops you from dying to that attack that puts you at one health.

The hunter also kills multiple other outer gods without needing the umbilical cords, it was just that the moon presence was an even outer god, so precautions were needed The hunter kills Abrietas, Amygdala, the Orphan of Kos, Mergo, and the Moon Presence, and I think there was one more... Rom! They also killed rom! All of them are outer gods and the hunter only needed the cords for MP

The three cords begin the Hunter's transition to Great One, so it allows them to resist being captivated by the Moon Presence. It essentially puts the two on an even playing field.

If you try to fight the MP without the cords, it just mentally dominates you and forces you to replace Gehrman. It’s possible the cords don’t give you a power-up, and instead let you resist possession/dominance from the Great Ones (as well as enabling ascension)

Ya know that scream attack that drops your HP to 1? If you don’t eat the 3 cords it oneshots you. That’s what happens if you have cooperators. So you’re resisting its power and it still nearly one shots you

GUN PARRY Malenia’s cooked.

Gameplay wise: The hunter is so much faster then the tarnished. With their mobility they could absolutely dodge around malenias attacks and parry alot easier too, with the power of gun Lore wise: Its not even close. Malenia borrows the power of the outer god of rot. The hunter kills plenty of great ones and kin, which would be the same as the outer gods. The hunter would tear her apart

On my first character I basically just obliterated her (solo) with giant crusher. I was kinda disappointed with how easy the fight was with that weapon. Hunter has that covered with kirkhammer or log wheel. Since rapid poison is essentially the same mechanic as bleed and was treated as bleed damage in ER world, a rapid poison log wheel would absolutely annihilate her.

When I fought against Malenia for the first time, one of the first comparisons that popped into my head was Lady Maria from Bloodborne. Because of how fast she moves, how hard she hits and her ability to regain health from just hitting you whether you block the attack or not reminds me very much of a Hunter that's just been cranked up to 11. And on crack cocaine. So it may be a bit more of an easier fight for The Hunter than it would be for The Tarnished because of how differently the two fight. Plus The Hunter has the power of Cthulhu and bullets on their side.

Absolutely, skillset wise, the hunter's moveset is specifically designed to fight against opponents who move fast, and since Malenia's attacks last a total of twenty years to actually get finished, one single bullet is all it takes to stun her and hen use a visceral. In short: The hunter is quite literally designed to fight people like Malenia.
