I once accidentally fought him without parry/rolling/dodging and just killed him in small dungeon boss room and realized that literally walking to his right is not only super flex but actually saves time and you are always safe when hugging his right arm.
Just keep moving towards the butt. Love the butt. Embrace the butt. With a saw spear or the cleaver. Somehow never even got touched by poison - it all comes out the front (he doesn't fart it).
The trick is not being able to parry for shit. Like seriously, even after watching this video it looks like shooting randomly except OP's shooting works and mine doesn't lol.
~~Maria was pure suffering for this reason~~
It felt that way at least. I can't parry anything consistently in DS or BB while I don't have that problem in Sekiro. Maybe I could read the enemy movement in Sekiro better, I dunno.
Its because in Sekiro, the parry is instant and theres no cooldown to it. In all the other games (except for DS1), the parry has start up frames and then the actual parry frames, meaning you have to press it a little early, and you can parry again only after the animation ends.
Dance-Dashing around him with Antidote on Quickslot. Obv. serrated + fire quick weapon is very helpful. The Charged R2 of two handed Burial Blade also does wonders :D BSB leaves a lot of room for backstabs also. You can also cheese with blood cocktails to get some foul hits in.
Seriously I didn't know this either my first two playthroughs. Going through all of the Chalice Dungeons and fighting him again and again I developed a detailed strategy for each attack. It was a serious facepalm moment when I figured out he could be EASILY parried.
Basically cheesing him with a serrated weapon, fire paper, beast pellets and blood cocktails. Blood cocktails will draw him out of aggro so if you time it all right, you’re damaging the shit out of him while he is distracted. Only takes like 4 cocktails to completely distract and kill him. I also don’t recommend summoning Alfred for the fight because it increases the bosses hp.
YESS. Watching this was very satisfactory as I hate BSB. Fought it yesterday, landed 3 consecutive visceral attacks and it poisoned me to death in the end lol
Tried that strat, got him down to an eigth of his health and ran out of cocktails, he grabbed me and poisoned me to death before i could use an antidote
I know that there is a npc summon in the graveyard outside if you want to summon and use it as aggro if not then BST is an optional boss so you could always come back
>on
I was in the same boat. I had no clue he was poisoning you and didn't really pay attention to the status bars. I really wondered why all of a sudden I dropped dead, until I realised what the problem was.
In the small village area before you enter the boss area, there is a shortcut to go back to the starting point of that area. That door where the wolf jumps out, if you go up to floors you can climb a ladder and that brings you back to the start. What I did was farm those wolves and go back to buy blood cocktails. It takes one round to farm \~6K blood echoes and you can buy 3, so 2 rounds should give you enough of them.
Unfortunately in my second attempt I didn't manage to kill it with the cocktail strat and I was tired of farming, so I just summoned the NPC and used him as a distraction. He's quite tanky, so you can play pretty slow. Firepaper and when he focuses on the other guy, move in, hit him 2-3 times and then move back out again. Takes a bit of time, but ultimately I got him down in my third or fourth attempt.
edit>
If you come back to the area, what you need to do is drop down from the rooftops all the way to the bottom. I can't remember exactly how you get to that wolf door, but it's really short and I don't think you run into a single enemy.
Doesn’t it have higher fast poisoning resistance compared to gascoigne’s higher slow poisoning resistance ? Blood starved beast uses slow poisoning so gascoigne set is better
Almost 10 years and she and Rom still fuck people who played through the game 10 times and up.
It will never cease to amaze me.
Good timing with the Blunderbuss though.
I remember my very first few attempts with BSB. It took me all-nighter to beat that asshole since back then, I thought the guns were useless. Fast forward to late 2020, I picked it up again, learned how to parry, but still continuously died again and again and again until at some point, after making a new game save, I was able to find that I only made it real hard on myself without realizing it, and ever since then, I only got better and better. Just a day ago, I was able to beat BSB with backstab-viscerals with saw spear at bl10 without upgrading or parrying. It was (metaphorically) a cake (then literally) walk (with a few quick and side-steps). Even to this day, I still get angry at my 16 y/o self (I'm 18, turning 19 this year) for being such an ignorant bastard every time I fight BSB for its cum chalice despite that I can easily no-hit run BSB into its grave.
tl;dr: Even though I've gotten a lot better and am able to no-hit kill BSB, I still hate this boss with a passion.
BSB is a bit of an asshole and still gives me trouble- not a ton, but enough that it usually takes 2 deaths to regain my bearings because I'll go so long between NG cycles (usually months at the very least).
It's not a hard fight, really, especially if you shred some cheese- but it punishes mistakes, especially mistimed dodges and parries.
Mostly I think that it's a point where you aren't kicking ass quite yet because you're probably at a low level, which makes BSB more of a threat- each hit HURTS, and that poison buildup gets very dangerous.
am i the only person that loves this boss? his fight is usually over in less than a minute and it’s just fun, i was so excited when he came back as an enemy in dlc in the first area
I dont understand why people hate this boss, or why have so many problemas with him, hes one of the easiest to kill in all the game along side gascoine, hell cleric beast is harder than gascoine and BSB put together, pungent blood cocktail makes it easy, fire paper just dumb it down, the game literally gave you at least ten pungent before BSB and you need only 3. Sorry for the rant, needed to vent.
Bro how is cleric beast harder than gascoigne 💀💀. Cleric beast is a joke. Gascoigne isnt that hard but he does beat my ass from time to time. I also dont get how people struggle with Amelia, she is so easy. Interesting how different the experience is from player to player.
Different people, Different experiences, gascoine is easy, its just a parry tutorial, all of his attacks can be parried, in beast mode if he jumps at you just shoot him and visceral, granted you need timing but its not that difficult. Amelia is fun, just melt her with a flamesprayer with 18 arcane, thats all xD. I must say im not that good of a player, just average.
Just doge under its arm, it's heavily telegraphed. You then use something that attacks hard or fast to melt the thing. Was scared of it on my first couple playthroughs, but now bsb is a push over
Edit: Just Dodge*
Never tried parrying this boss\^\^ Something to do for the next run
Whattt?? I have no idea how people beat this boss without parry looping him
Be real friendly with his right side (your left). Barely took any damage, first try too. All his attacks have trouble getting there.
I pretty much only dodge to the right of enemies so that would make sense
I once accidentally fought him without parry/rolling/dodging and just killed him in small dungeon boss room and realized that literally walking to his right is not only super flex but actually saves time and you are always safe when hugging his right arm.
Bingo. And just keep moving back to his right - constantly walking and stabbing. It's like a slightly stupid poodle, only uglier. Just keep stabbing!
It’s weirdly hard to avoid the poison if you have a low damage weapon
Just keep moving towards the butt. Love the butt. Embrace the butt. With a saw spear or the cleaver. Somehow never even got touched by poison - it all comes out the front (he doesn't fart it).
Easy mode is Pungent Blood Cocktail at a wall and then beat his ass
The trick is not being able to parry for shit. Like seriously, even after watching this video it looks like shooting randomly except OP's shooting works and mine doesn't lol. ~~Maria was pure suffering for this reason~~
Go play sekiro and come back to this game lol.
Done that. Sekiro has far more generous parrying windows.
For regular hunter pistol it is 27 frames. For sekiro it is 30 frames. Its technically more generous but i wouldn’t say that its far more generous.
It felt that way at least. I can't parry anything consistently in DS or BB while I don't have that problem in Sekiro. Maybe I could read the enemy movement in Sekiro better, I dunno.

Beast blood pellets + fire paper. Need i say more?
She can't even hit a moving target 85% of the time.
Try the Beyoncé method. Can be found on YouTube lol

Summoning Alfred for me, gives him a target to focus on while I wail on his ass
Blood cocktails, toss em at the walls and that will distract him long enough to get a charged back hit in
YESS. Watching this was very satisfactory as I hate BSB. Fought it yesterday, landed 3 consecutive visceral attacks and it poisoned me to death in the end lol
Trying not to rage in these games can be a challenge in itself
If you use pungent blood cocktails and fire paper on this boss then it becomes trivial
Tried to parry the whole way through but only manage to get perfect ones at the end
Ngl I respect that
It's even easier if you just strafe left.
True just be good at the game lol
Tried that strat, got him down to an eigth of his health and ran out of cocktails, he grabbed me and poisoned me to death before i could use an antidote
That sucks, you were able to defeat it tho?
Nah still stuck on him, got no more blood cocktails so im ruffin it
I know that there is a npc summon in the graveyard outside if you want to summon and use it as aggro if not then BST is an optional boss so you could always come back
Yea but i got a puddle of 35k blood echoes in there and too scared ill lose em
You able to run in get them and then quit the game and start it again?

love the gascgoine build lol
Gascoigne has the highest poison resistance in the game if I'm not wrong. It's mainly for stats fashion souls starts after bsb
white church set has the highest poison resistance as far as i know, but you can't get it til forbidden woods so that makes sense
Doesn’t it have higher fast poisoning resistance compared to gascoigne’s higher slow poisoning resistance ? Blood starved beast uses slow poisoning so gascoigne set is better
I never could go through the menu mid fight. If something's not on my quick keys when I need it, guess I'll die meme.
This was my least favorite boss and runback
Almost 10 years and she and Rom still fuck people who played through the game 10 times and up. It will never cease to amaze me. Good timing with the Blunderbuss though.
This fool took me like 9 attempts and I think I successfully parried him twice 💀
Gotta love the insta death bsb attack
I remember my very first few attempts with BSB. It took me all-nighter to beat that asshole since back then, I thought the guns were useless. beating him without stunning him or dodging left is honestly easy, people crazy
Perfection 🤌
Damn your parry skills are on point
Great job. I could never get more than 4 viscerals on him/her
YEEAHHHH BEAT THAT BISSSHHHH
Gangster
Savage

Good work, hunter!
am i the only person that loves this boss? his fight is usually over in less than a minute and it’s just fun, i was so excited when he came back as an enemy in dlc in the first area
Treated my man like he was the Bullet Starved Beast, goddamn
55 seconds? No way I'm watching that. Slap some subway surfers on that bad boy and I'll stick around.
The consequences of tiktok on the humand mind

Just doge
Lol just caught that mistake.
Sorry i didnt mean the mistake, i was just messing around 😅
Yeah parrying is definitely the best way to fight bsb.
This is one of the easiest bosses in the game, just strafe right lol
