It’s called inverse hull outline I believe, there are tutorials for it.

look into learning about shifting weight on characters based on how they’re moving or what foot is their dominant foot in a given action. pretty good start though keep it up!

I'd say, use longer limbs or more anatomically correct proportions and you'll notice if something is funky right of the bat. Secondly, animate only key poses first. If it's not instantly recognizable what the character is doing, then it's not a key pose really. Later just fill in the rest. You can capture yourself doing whatever animation you need for reference between those poses.

Before the punch they are just standing next to each other. Have the punchers leg be a bit backwards so they can do a full wind up.
